Greetings from Palm Island, Florida. Palm Island is one of the last bastions of the old Florida lifestyle. Quiet and laid-back, Palm Island is really three islands (Don Pedro, Knights and Palm) with a contiguous seven mile white sand beach on the west and harbors and inlets on the east.
Palm Island is separated from the mainland by Lemon Bay, but is served every 10 minutes by car ferry as well as water taxi and private craft. Traffic is minimal, requiring no lights or stop signs and one paved road. Although vehicles are used, most island transport is via golf cars.
Tranquility House is a four bedroom beach home completed in 2008. With approx. 3,500+ s.f. of living space under air and 7,000 s.f. total space, this property is ideal for gatherings of families, friends, weddings and special occasions.
Tranquility House sleeps 12-16 people. It has been designed for strength, beauty, energy efficiency, comfort and low maintenance.
Our family has owned and managed multi-family, single-family and vacation properties in three states since 1980.
Dave Andrews purchased this house in 2009
We built this property in 2008 to be an upscale beachfront fractional ownership property. Fractional Ownership did not develop, but the property became popular for weddings and vacation rentals. The property is now rented about 40 weeks annually. We return the property to arrival condition after each rental.
We are owners and managers, not agents or employees. We have many years of experience professionally owning and managing over 300 units. This property receives our dedicated attention.
Tranquility House is unique on Palm Island in many ways:
* Directly on 7 mile sand beach
* Sleeps 16 comfortably
* Exclusive Pool Club membership
* Beach side spa
* Sunsets over water
* 8 passenger Honda provided
* Lush tropical landscape setting
* Private dune boardwalk
Wow! This is an absolutely gorgeous home with the prettiest grounds on the island and the perfect beach setting!
We hosted our daughter’s wedding and reception at the house and it was fantastic! The area below and behind the house are great for a reception and we couldn’t have found a nicer beach for the wedding!
The owners are great to work with and helped out tremendously with the wedding and reception! I didn’t know what to expect when I was told that we would have a concierge that day but I sure didn’t expect the help we received! It was great. Very friendly and accommodating!
After the wedding, when we finally had some downtime, we were able to truly discover the beach. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets that can be enjoyed from the multiple balconies, from the hot tub or directly from the beach! We spent the remaining days walking the beach to the State Park, picking up shells (better shelling than even Sanibel!), hoping the turtles would hatch and kayaking and paddle boarding (we brought those). We paddle boarded with a Manatee and with Dolphins! So close we could have reached out and touched them.
Having access to the Club Cart and the van was great and the passes to the ferry really helped! It’s certainly close enough to Sarasota, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Naples etc. for some great sightseeing but I would suggest highly that you get everything you need, groceries (don’t forget the coffee ) etc. and then just spend your days on the island.
We plan on coming back next year with a lot more time on our hands to do more fishing, paddle boarding, sunset watching and beach combing! Our other daughter already has her wedding plans in the works for the Tranquility House in a couple of years!
Beautiful house and great location, we were there over the Labor Day weekend and had the beach pretty much to ourselves. We had the whole family including grandson with us They expressed to me that this was the most memorable vacation we have had. Lots of room and house is right on the beach. Take board games with you as it gets expensive everythime you go across the ferry to go get something. We will def book it again next year.
If you are looking for a true "get away from it all" vacation in comfortable, well kept surroundings this is the property for you.
Three generations of our family spent a week on Palm Island this past April. We wanted a family beach vacation and could not have found a more ideal place. The beach is a few steps from the property, the house is designed for family living having three master suites and a perfect bunk-room for the kids with their own bathroom, also a very comfortable sofa bed is available in the "den" with easy access to the first floor shower room. The house is beautifully furnished and stocked with plenty of kitchen equipment, plus a great laundry room. The view from the living room and deck is tranquility itself and we all loved spotting the marine life that visited us each day and needless to say the sunsets are superb!
The house is on an island which can only be accessed by ferry, which is expensive if you run out of passes, but with good planning you don't need to leave the island too often as there is a family style restaurant, convenience store and ice-cream shop available at the local resort. The owners of this property keep it in immaculate condition and have high expectations that their guests will do the same.
We will all be returning to Tranquility House again next April - this time for longer!!
We chose this home for its privacy, size and amenities and we were not disappointed. The home is large and very well appointed. Everything you can think of is available for your use including a golf cart and minivan if you choose to use them to get around. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need for cooking and preparing meals even for the 10 of us. (One thing I couldn't find was a potato masher, which is no deal at all but since the kitchen had absolutely everything else, I was surprised not to find one. However, it could have been there and I just missed it.) The storage downstairs has everything you can imagine for the beach from beach chairs and toys to umbrellas and boogie boards/ floats. The home is equipped with an elevator so it is a great home for elderly guests and those with disabilities. The elevator did have an issue our 2nd day there but the owner was there within the hour to resolve it. The owner is very pleasant, helpful and professional.
The home is decorated amazingly and the finishes are top notch. It really is a luxurious beach home. It doesn't have a pool but there is a pool you can use in the marina on the mainland. Speaking of mainland, yes, you need to take a 2 minute ferry ride to get on the island which for us was fine as we never left the island after getting on. There is a Publix nearby and we did all of our groceries for the week prior to our arrival. I can't speak for local restaurants since we cooked our own meals everyday. The road on the island is paved about halfway to the house. The rest of the way is was sand and huge holes. However, the owner informed me that they will be placing compacted crushed shells on that road and I indeed saw crews doing just that the day we were leaving.
The beach is very quiet and the views are amazing. During Turtle nesting season (May-October), you must close the blinds after sunset in order to use interior lights. It wasn't too big of a deal since we are big fans of our oceans and wildlife. To enjoy the beach views under moonlight, I would go to the 3rd floor deck (Best spot in all the house to relax and take in the views) with a drink and relax under the ceiling fan. There were places for ceiling fans on the 2nd floor deck but there weren't any. I'm assuming there are reasons for that. All the furniture inside/outside was comfortable but the master bed squeaks loudly with just my breathing. Overall, we had an A+ time and we will definitely stay at Tranquility House again.
The owners charge for every little thing on top of the nightly rate and taxes. Some of which are: every person that stays in the house is a separate additional charge, if kitchen items are not in the exact drawer and spot as they were at your arrival ( there are photographs of every drawer you are to follow), any bit of sand found in the house or golf cart . . and the list goes on. The cleaning fee is exorbitant, for example they said it took them 17 hours to clean the house, which took the price of the cleaning fee up a lot after we spent time organizing all of their things and doing the laundry. The house was very clean when we left.
We had 8 family members staying in the house and because they thought we had more than the allowed number of guests they went through all of their security cameras to see who had been there. We found it to be an invasion of privacy since a lot of living at a beach house takes place outside. We were charged hundreds of dollars for our father smoking cigars outside.
Finally, to get to the pool you have to take the ferry back onto the mainland which is also a lot of money. That was not clear in the description at the time we rented the house.
Palm Island is a great place to visit and we as Floridians we have vacationed there several times, but will never return to this property. They owners are too much like lawyers and not kind renters. There is way too much legality involved in your stay at Tranquility House. I highly do not recommend getting involved with these people.
We had a wonderful time at Tranquility House. The house is maintained immaculately, the beach is very private and safe. The deck is awesome, it offers a great view of the beach and opens up completely to the kitchen and great room. This house is perfect for a family vacation. We will definitely return.
