George and I moved to Vermont from Connecticut, where we both were born and grew up. George took a job as music director at Windham College, and I taught special education classes from K. - College, including seven years at Landmark College before starting my tutoring-consulting business, Options in Learning. We now live in Bath, Maine, just north of The Dolphin Cottage.

We have come to this area for vacations since our children were little. We love the ocean and nearby Popham Beach. Our family didn't miss a year for the past forty years, and now we get to live nearby full time!
This property is special to us because it is secluded, quiet yet has an amazing view of the many boats that use the nearby Marina, from small sailboats to mega-yachts. It's always exciting looking out over the bay. It is so convenient to special places and activities, yet feels like home when you come back from exploring.
We booked this cottage based on the location as we had never been to Maine. Overall, our vacation was lovely. It does have a great view of the bay, however, the adirondack chairs with a view of the bay, do not go along with this cottage. They are on the neighbor's property. Also, the dock is a little hard to find at first as there are no signs. It is a shared dock, however, it is shared with 11 other families and it is only about a 10 x 10 ft floating dock. It could get crowded at times. The kitchen is stocked with a few basic items. The week we were there was unseasonably hot. Sometimes little air was blowing. We did find a fan to put in the window to circulate the air as there is no air conditioning. The bathroom had a mildew smell the entire time as well. One of the highlights of this trip were the neighbors, Hope and David and Mary and Jerry. They couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. It would be worth it to go back there just to hang out with them!!!
My new husband and I rented the Dolphin Cottage in August 2012 for our honeymoon. We had been looking for a quiet and peaceful setting in Maine - and we found it! We had an amazing stay at the Dolphin Cottage. It is a beautiful home and so comfortable. Everything is modern and all the amenities are there. There was so much to see and do within driving distance - explore the islands of Harpswell and nearby Bath and Freeport. We highly recommend the cottage and the owner was so lovely to work with. Please visit this cottage!
Wonderful ocean bay views, dock access, a quiet location, yet close to unique amenities whatever your interests, this ideal location is only six miles from Brunswick, home of the famed Maine State Summer Theater at Bowdoin College. It is 15 miles from Popham Beach State Park, and 15 miles north of Freeport, the best outlet-shopping city in Maine. This area has many public hiking trails with gorgeous views, plus a 2.6 mile trail for walking or biking along the beautiful Adroscoggin River. One of the most famous white sand beaches in the Maine, Popham Beach, and the Maine Maritime Museum are located near Bath, the next town North on Route 1. Boating, swimming, hiking, 'light housing', shopping, dining on a wharf, or just relaxing on the dock, the choice is yours at 'The Dolphin' cottage.
