About Cindy Hall

I was a RI Realtor for 35 years and fell in love with Wickford Village. My husband and I were married here in St Paul's Church and raised our two children here. We purchased this wonderful historic home in 1993 and spent one year renovating this Queen Anne Victorian, formally built for the Governor of RI, Governor William Gregory in 1883

Cindy Hall purchased this apartment in 1993

Why Cindy Hall chose Wickford

In 1993 this wonderful Queen Anne Victorian was a listing in the real estate office across the street that I was working for. The property was in terrible neglected disrepair and I showed it to potential buyers and curious lookers many times. They shook their heads and informed me "It was just too much work". I knew my husband and I could bring it back to the former beauty that it was and so after many months on the market we made an offer and had the privledge of becoming the owners and caregivers to this wonderful Queen Anne Victorian prize. The renovation and repair was a full time one year commitment to bring this home back to the condition it deserved to be. We hope you enjoy your stay here, in this wonderful historic home!

What makes this apartment unique

A warm, comfortable, enchanting apartment with the comforts of today and the historical character of days gone by. Enjoy the Sunnflower House! (The tallest building in Wickford, with the sunflower plaque on the side of the house!)

Charming and Sunny Sunflower House

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sunflower House. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. Everything we could have needed was in place. Awaking to the sun streaming through the stained-glass window was tremendously better than waking up to an alarm clock!

Wickford Village is charming and so convenient to nearby family. Beach Rose Café, Shayna's, Tavern by the Sea, and The Place are favorites when we're in the area.

From initial inquiry through check out, communication was easy. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. We look forward to a return stay in Sunflower House.

An Amazing Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Five stars is not an adequate rating for this property! If I could, I would give it twice that amount! The first floor apartment in the Sunflower House is absolutely gorgeous! My husband and I have rented VRBO properties for many years - both in the states and in Italy. This one is, without a doubt, one of our very favorites. The apartment was spotless and beautifully renovated. Everything in it is top of the line and it was remodeled to perfection. I loved the dark wood doors and woodwork, stain glass windows, the granite counters, the hardwood and tile floors. The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. The location is also perfect. Wickford Village is very quaint and everything is literally right outside the door of the apartment. You do not need a car to visit all of the shops, restaurants, and historic homes in town. We had a wonderful Italian dinner at Tate's, a great breakfast at the Beach Rose Café, another good dinner at Tavern By The Sea, lots of coffee and warm muffins right out of the oven at a shop directly across the street. We found the people in town to be exceptionally friendly, and the shopkeepers appreciative of our business. It is a great place to visit! Cindy, the owner, was easy to communicate with and extremely personable. The booking process, check-in, and check-out all went smoothly. If we come back to the area in the future, we will most certainly stay at the Sunflower House. This apartment gets a very high recommendation from us. You can't possibly go wrong if you rent this property!

Memories are made here!

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here at the Sunflower House. This place has a special meaning for us & that's why we were delighted to return here to have a nostalgic vacation. You see, 50 years ago my hubby was in the Navy & stationed at the nearby Seabee base. He rented an apartment upstairs in this very house. This is where we began our life together as young newlyweds. Life had taken us back to Oregon after the Navy. When my husband asked what I wanted to do for our 50th anniversary I said I want to return to Wickford. We'd traveled to the area in 2011& found that it might be possible to rent the downstairs apartment. Wow! What a grand idea! We were pleased with all the upgrades & the super friendly & helpful owner. We enjoyed reading the history of the house & once again exploring the area. 38 Brown Street is indeed very special to us & will be forever. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing the "Sunflower House" (also known as Governor Gregory's house), for your very special anniversary! I enjoyed meeting you and hearing about the way it was back in 1966, when you lived in this historic house! You will always be welcome back! All our best Anniversary Wishes for you! Cindy and Bryson

Fabulous!!

  • 5 of 5

My mother and I had the pleasure of a two night stay at this property and it was fantastic. Cozy and comfortable with a feeling of home. There was a binder full of information about local shops, eateries and tourist attractions. The surrounding areais fabulous. Lots of great shops and friendly people everywhere. The only downfall was that our stay was short. I hope to return again in the future.

Wonderful stay in Wickford

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two nights and it just was not long enough. Great location and apt was great. Very comfortable bed and plenty of room for us. It was close to many attractions and was a peaceful place to spend time. Would love to go back and explore more and Cindy was great to work with and quick to respond.
