'THE IGUANA HOUSE'
Directly on the beach and located at the widest point of the Delaware Bay, approx 28 miles across to NJ, this Island home offers something very special that the large resorts don't have, peace and quiet.
Step right onto the sand from this beautiful beach home. If fishing is your thing, cast your line into the water and fresh fish are yours for breakfast or dinner, fishing license required.
You can put your small boat or kayak in the water right off the beach and explore local tributaries where you will find not only the serenity of a wilderness-like landscape but also many species of fish and crabs. Children can ride bikes on the quiet Island road, roller blade or play on the beach, collecting shells and sea glass and be amazed at the site of prehistoric horseshoe crabs that migrate to this area from South America.
Let the sun rising over the Bay and the sound of sea birds wake you in the morning and the gentle rustle of the Bay lapping at the beach lull you to sleep. Enjoy the 'Quiet Life', come to South Bowers Island...

Our experience matched the reviews here. We really enjoyed the house and the location. Plenty of peace and quiet and close enough to golf courses and short driving trips to area towns and ocean beaches. Bring kayaks or a canoe if you can. Bob was very responsive and easy to work with.
2nd visit here, beautiful house, great beach for small children. Very private. If you like bonfires on the beach this is the place to go. Only thing I missed was the Iquana is not on the front of the house anymore. I missed seeing him. Thanks Bob for another great vacation!
What a treat to stay at Iguana House. Our ages ranged from 2- 70+ and we could not have enjoyed a more peaceful family holiday. We didn't need to do much - the decks give views to the sea at the back and inland to the front. There was plenty of wildlife to observe on the beach (crab, shrimp, fish, turtles) and shells to collect. The house is light, airy, clean and thoughtfully designed with a brilliantly equipped kitchen. It is remote - a positive for us - coming from London. As we left we felt jealous of the next family to enjoy it!
The Iguana house was beautiful. Fully stocked kitchen, all the rooms were very spacious. I love when I find a hidden gem, this place is one of them. My family loved the privacy of our own beach. Sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. Be prepared to have everything you need food, Paper towels, TP....ect. I found the most convenient place to stock up was the Walmart super center in Milford about 20 minutes away. The dollar store is right next to it for cheap foil, hand soap, baggies, water....all those little things you need. We enjoyed the fireworks display on July 2nd. And our neighbors invited us to and enormous bonfire, great fun! Walks along the beach collecting shells and sea glass. We plan to return, thank you Bob and Cindi for sharing your lovely home with others.

I really had no idea what to expect as we've never rented a vacation home before. We had a wonderful week we had at this house. I am a neatnik and was so pleasantly surprised at how impeccably clean and well -maintained the house was. So serene and quiet, if you are looking to relax then this is the place to go.
We enjoyed swimming at high tide, a bonfire at the beach, and looking for snails and hermit crabs at low tide.
The only downside was the flies-not the owner's fault, that's just the way it is by the bay sometimes, so be sure to bring some bug repellent.
The kitchen is stocked with any and every appliance and gadget you could ever need-in fact there are so many that there isn't much cabinet space for non-perishables. With a bunch of teenagers the food didn't last long though!
Also, be sure to bring your electronic devices-we couldn't get a cell phone signal so had to rely on wifi to contact the outside world.
A wonderful getway-I'd rent from Bob & Cindy again in heartbeat.
All the reviews here seem to hit pretty close to the mark. House is lovely, well-kept. Kitchen is extremely well-stocked for pretty much any type of cooking and serving. Be sure to bring any/all kitchen cleaning items (sponges, dish/dishwasher soap, hand towels, paper towels)... literally everything. Grill was convenient and easy to use. We enjoyed many home cooked meals for our group of 8 (ages 7 to 70), but as other reviews mentioned, be sure to stock up--nearest grocery store is about a 15 min drive.
Beach is very clean and private, excellent for evening bonfires and smores making... our family's favorite. Not sure if it was just the time of year, (Horseshoe crab mating season?), but the number of horseshoe crabs made swimming a little uninviting for our group. However, kids and adults enjoyed building sand castles, fishing, shelling, looking for sea glass or just sitting on the beach. Location allowed for an easy drive (under an hour) to other area beaches like Rehoboth and Lewes.
The photos represent the space accurately. Main living area is open and bright and perfect for family/group time. We could enjoy separate actives (puzzles, games, etc) while still being together in one large room. Door at the top of stairs added privacy and kept the upstairs bedrooms quiet. (Great for little kids). I will say that the combination of a 5:30am sunrise, the thin window coverings and uncovered transom windows took some adjusting to for our little ones, who finally managed to sleep in toward the end of our week-long stay.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend or revisit this property. It's really a beautiful spot. A great house. Thanks, Bob!
