Overview

About the property

Studio Cabin queen log bed + futon couch, 1 Bath, Designed for 2 (Sleeps 2-4)

Historic hand-hewn Log Studio Cabin Rental nestled in a 5 acre organic cherry orchard with outstanding Flathead Lake views. Fully restored with antique furnishings. The cabin is located 15 miles south of Bigfork. The cabin is not located on the water, but is conveniently located about 1/2 mile from the Yellow Bay State Park. (Approx 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk) Designed for 2 people, this 400 square foot log cabin rental can accommodate up to 4 guests.

The great Covered Porch has rustic log posts that frame the incredible Flathead Lake and Wild Horse Island views. It is a short drive (or walk) to the Yellow Bay State Park, public beach and boat ramp. Peaceful and private in the Flathead Valley of Northwest Montana.

Built in 1932, this log cabin was hand hewn from trees taken to clear the surrounding cherry orchards. Built as a homesteader's cabin when the east lake shore was a very remote location with few families living at Yellow Bay, and the only access was via a 2-track dirt road.

The cabin has been completely restored, creating a warm cozy retreat with the charm of a by-gone era. Retaining the original logs, floors, windows and aged patina were very important, while adding all the modern amenities one would expect.

The cabin has a queen size log bed as well as a lay-down, futon-style couch and wood stove. Fully equipped kitchen & bath, and a covered porch with gas barbecue overlooking Flathead Lake. There is no tv or phone, which suits most guests just fine. But we do have wireless internet, and cell service is available.

We hope that you enjoy this little piece of Montana history. It is a very special place to us and to all our visitors from around the world.

If you like this cabin but need something larger or your dates are already booked please see our other adjacent log cabin. The Yellow Bay Lodge listing VRBO 285855

Rustic log home, with gorgeous lake views!

  • 5 of 5

For an authentic cabin feel with great views I would definitely stay here again. Did not want to leave actually. George also gave us a ton of great food and activity recommendations while we there which we thoroughly enjoyed!

This log cabin was AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about this VRBO property. I have found my new "happy place". The log cabin was updated perfectly and had everything we needed. The views of the lake from the front porch and lawn were breathtaking. It was peaceful and very relaxing. I would, and am, recommending this place to everyone.

Perfect for what we wanted. Walking in, I commented, "this is wonderful, better than I expected."

  • 5 of 5

We wanted quiet, simplicity without being "too rustic". Older appliances reminded me of my childhood and "Gramma's" kitchen, Beds very comfy. Stared at night. Spectacular view of the lake. Everything we needed. We will be back.

A little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

This cabin, this place....WOW I am not sure I can put it all into words. First of all, the view alone is a million dollar view of Flathead Lake. Couple that with this beautifully restored cabin with the best attention to the "little" details and it is the perfect place if you are looking for somewhere to completely disconnect from the world and RELAX. The online pictures don't do the cabin justice. The love and care that was put into the restoration and continues with the upkeep of the cabin is amazing. We saw deer & wild turkeys in the yard amongst the beautiful cherry trees. Everything about this trip exceeded our expectations. Skip chain grocery stores and head into Bigfork to Bigfork Harvest Foods it is like a blend of Whole Foods and a local, small town grocery store - their bakery is AMAZING. Rent a boat and head out on Flathead Lake for a fun, relaxing day that allows you to see the area from the water. We cannot wait to come back to this little slice of heaven!
