We rented the Deer Ridge for a dream family Holiday vacation and were not disappointed! I'ts at the top of the mountain and the views from the wrap around porch are incredible. The kitchen is very well equipped! Plus, there is a grill deck right off of the kitchen which worked well for Sam's delish Brisket and BBQ ribs the next day! So much room to move around and with 8 adults and 3 very small children we had plenty of room to spread out. Sandi and Clad were great to work with and so helpful with all of my pre vacation questions. But I needn't have worried - they have everything! The children and grandchildren loved riding the Polar Express and we all enjoyed a couple of landmark restaurants: The Cork and Bean and Jimmie Macs. The week passed all too quickly but who knows; we may be back. If I had any negatives, they would be few. There is no TV on the main floor where everyone hangs out (my sons brought theirs - had to watch Christmas movies, you know) out and for bathing babies, there is only one tub except for the huge one in the master. (Hard to reach babies over the high tub.) Also, a must visit is to Dillsboro. What a cute little town and only 20 minutes away. Only 2 or 3 blocks in its entirety, but a stopping point for the Smokey Mountains Railroad, 3 very nice restaurants, great little shops and even a wine store, complete with wine tasting. Bryson City, we'll be back!

Owner's Response: We are always excited to see people like you take the time and effort to post your positive experiences on VRBO! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! I must apologize for not bringing to your attention the bath tub on the first level. There are actually three tubs at Deer Ridge. One in the bathroom on the first level, one large jaccuzzi tub in the Master bathroom on the 2nd level and a hot tub outside on second level. The third level has an oversize large shower, no bathtub- as you mentioned. You are correct, there is no TV in the living room on the second level, but there is one in the Master bedroom of the 2nd level and in the family room of the first level. When we built Deer Ridge we decided to go with windows on all walls so views are not interrupted by a TV wall. Thanks again for your positive feedback, we hope to see you again soon!

Hospitable owners and beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 families staying there for a long weekend and the house was amazing. The rooms are spacious great seating for a large group. The kitchen was large enough for several to be in there at one time working on meal prep. The hot tub had a wonderful view of the mountain. The house was setup in a way to make you feel like a welcome resident, not as an annoying renter. The beds were comfortable... plenty of hot water... plenty of seating... plenty of parking. There were 2 sets of washer/dryers. Thank you for the beautiful home.

Deer Ridge - Couldn't have asked for more!

  • 5 of 5

I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to stay at Deer Ridge for a week. This home is absolutely beautiful and the mountainous views and just amazing. I visited the area with a group from my Mini Cooper Club and the parking situation was just as perfect as the house itself. We had a group of 12 with 8 cars and we had plenty of room inside and out. The home is spotless and full of modern amenities yet it still has a cozy cabin feel. It is even more stunning than the pictures. With three floors there was plenty of space for us to spread out on our own yet there were also great spaces for us to gather as a group. The Property Manager was also a pleasure to work with. This home and the surrounding areas were quite a change from life back in NY but I enjoyed every minute of it! I would most definitely recommend it and would love to visit again.

Owner's Response: Hi and thank you so much for taking the time to compliment our property! You probably don't know just how much it means to us as owners and our property manager Sandi, but it made our Christmas that much brighter! Not many take the time to go back online and provide feedback like you. It is our intention of renting to share the beauty and majesty of Gods creation up there with other families and we do our utmost to make your experience a pleasant and memorable one. Sincerely, John and Kathy Luke
