Happily married for over 46 years, Jim and Sally have been sweethearts since high school when they were hooked up because of having birthdays on the same day. Although still extremely active in our own custom hardware and software business, we spend as much time as possible with our children and their families. Our oldest lives nearby working as a licensed massage therapist. The middle child lives with his wife, a professor at Sam Houston University, and two little girls in Houston where he works at Rice University. Our youngest lives in Denver where she is an oncology nurse and heads a Palliative Care Clinic. Her husband works for the Security and Exchange Commission. They have a daughter and a son. In addition, we have three wonderful 'granddogs', a Golden, a mixed breed and a Samoyed. Other fun in our lives include attending concerts by the Detroit Symphony and sightseeing in our Solstice.
We inherited this beautiful home after many wonderful and memorable years vacationing with the extended family. Because it has been in the family for so many years, we have first hand experience as to how well suited the house is for family reunions or groups of friends.
Located on an out-of-the-way street, and with 200 feet of lakefront, the property is a perfect getaway that provides privacy in a relaxing, tranquil setting. Being far from city lights, the night sky is spectacular as are the sunsets, viewable from the dock. When family arrives the house lends itself to boisterous activity while the layout of the house gives each person an option of finding individual solitude.
The view and location is beautiful. We enjoyed going to nearby places such as Macinac Island, Petoski, and Harbor Springs.
We had a great time at this place - it was big enough for our family of five plus a couple of friends. The kitchen seemed to have everything you'd want, plenty of seating space, lots of room for the kids to do their own thing in the lower level. Our dog loved the large yard; the fire pit got used every night. We loved the shallow water and sandy bottom of the lake. Cheboygan is nearby for groceries, dinner out, movie theater, etc. We would definitely stay here again!
Our stay was really VERY GOOD but there wasn't a choice for that. The house was wonderful! Very clean and LOTS of room. Kitchen was easy to work in and had everything you would need. The downstairs was roomy and a good area for kids to play indoors. The yard outside by the lake was huge and also a good area for kids to run around and play. The lake was sandy once you got in but getting in was a problem. Big slippery rocks made it impossible to safely walk into the lake, so no beach. You had to go off the dock and that was tricky for little kids, and older adults. Getting out was difficult too.
Sally was wonderful to work with and answered all our questions right away. We had a great time and had lots of family come to visit us. We had room to prepare and have dinner for everyone. The mayflies were everywhere for the first couple of days but finally died off. The kids had fun collecting bugs! All in all, a great family reunion spot.
We stayed for the week this summer with our children - 18, 10, 8 and 6. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the house. The pictures are a good representation of the house, but it is hard to show how nice the back yard really is. The kids played back there a bunch, jumping in and out of the water when they got hot or too cold. We had fires most nights in the "pit". The house has good space for a family or even two. The owners give very helpful, detailed instructions on the house, and it seems like they thought of most everything. The house is well supplied for basic things (matches, guide books, flashlights). The kids loved the ping pong table and the movies - though we only watched one because we spent all our time outside enjoying the lake. Neighborhood is nice and quiet - we could have let the kids ride bikes up and down the street if we'd known. The lake is great, of course, and being from Texas it was great to enjoy the cooler weather and water. And the location gives you pretty easy access to the river toward Cheboygan (great half-day trip), and you can drive to Indian River or Cheboygan in about 20 mins. We really enjoyed our stay and would consider this home again when we come back to Mullett.
Excellent vacation home. Well maintained and equipped. Great location on quiet street. Close enough to stores and restaurants for convenience, but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. Our dogs loved the open spaces and swimming in the lake. Wonderful owners who made the entire booking process simple and straightforward. Will definately return.
We stayed at this home for 8 days this summer and had a wonderful time. The house was clean and very large. Lots of room for the kids to play in the basement or the large back yard. Beautiful lake front lot and great location. Very nice bedrooms and linens. The home had all the appliances and kitchen "ware" we could ever need and it was an overall great experience. We'd definitely return to this home for another vacation!
Thanks so much!
