The Neighborhood:

Bedford-Stuvesant has become the hottest part of Brooklyn. So many exciting new restaurants and cafes are opening up that it's hard to keep up with the changes. Beautiful historical neighborhood with a trendy young spirit. Safe, quiet, vibrant and super friendly. Make sure you visit our local farmer's market

Recent NY Times review of the neighborhood sums up the essence of this stunning, vibrant and constantly changing historical neighborhood.

Located in the historic district of Bedford-Stuyvesant; today a vibrant urban Caribbean/African American community (sandwiched in between the fascinating Hasidic areas of Crown Heights and Williamsburg), only 15 minutes from the Barclay Center, Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens/Zoo & Museum of Art. Nowhere else can you find such luxurious, spacious living, in the heart of New York City and only a 20 minute subway ride to Greenwich Village. the neighborhood is quiet, neighbors are warm and very friendly and you will find an abundance of fresh fruit, seafood, meat and grocery stores -- New local restaurants and coffee shops are cropping up everyday and lines wrap around the block for famous new establishments, Peaches and (vegetarian) Saraghina. Fashionable Fort Greene and Williamsburg are only minutes away on foot, by bus or subway and home to some of today's best bars and restaurants in Brooklyn

Read a Letter from a Recent Happy Guest: 'Our stay in NY and in your House were great! We really enjoyed the house and we were so happy we were not in Manhatten. We especially loved your kitchen. This was the place we sat in or in the garden. Lovely to sit there in the morning with a coffee. We also met Sylvia (neighbor) and Hannibal (her dog). We never used the sitting room because we had great weather all week.

Everything you told me about the house was right. No surprises or disappointments. It's a house with great character and we also liked the neighborhood. Nice people everywhere".

Wonderful Home Away Spot

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights in this wonderful Victorian. It slept all 10 family members comfortably and we did not feel cramped at all. This home is stunning with its old architecture....just makes you wonder if the walls could talk, what stories could they tell. The owner was wonderful, helpful and very accomodating. We would certainly reserve this Brownestone again!

Quirky and comfy

  • 4 of 5

My family of four were gobsmacked at the architectural details of the various rooms in Ruty's amazing brownstone, especially the shutters and the built-ins. Had we stayed as long as we intended--cancelled and delayed flights cut our trip down from two and a half days to one--the place would have been a great base for exploring Brooklyn as well as Manhattan. As it was, we wished we had been a tad closer in, so that we could have spent a little less time on the subway (50 minutes to the Natural History Museum) and more time in the house and neighborhood.

My husband would have wished for a coffee maker that kept his brew hot longer, but overall the house was generously stocked and supplied and, as all before us have said, a wonderfully spacious spot to retreat to after being immersed in the crowds and noise of the city.

Ruty was warm and well organized, easily adapting the transfer of keys as our plans changed and changed again. We felt well taken care of.

Beautiful home for exploring NYC

  • 5 of 5

I am very happy to provide a positive review for this property in Brooklyn. We (a group of 4 singles) had a fantastic 3 weeks in this house over the New Years’ period 2016/2017.

The house itself is beautiful, very large, spacious and comfortable with all the facilities you need including a great kitchen to cook in with new appliances, 2 bathrooms and a separate laundry with washer/ dryer. The bedrooms are huge with comfortable large beds and have beautiful fixtures throughout. We used the three bedrooms and had the air mattress set up in the study which acted as the forth bedroom, this is a large double size mattress and very comfortable to sleep in. There is also plenty of drawers/ wardrobes and room to unpack in each room which is really nice for a long stay.

The heating was perfect and the 3 levels gave us all plenty of space to hang out together ( or separately which you often need after a long day) and it really did feel like home away from home.

The location is fantastic, only a short 5 min walk to the subway that takes around 20 mins into lower Manhattan. The neighbourhood itself is beautiful, with tree lined streets of brownstones and plenty of cool bars and restaurants to keep you occupied ( Peaches Hot House and Saraghina in particular.) I really can’t fault this accommodation. The tenant upstairs is very friendly and helpful and you hardly even notice she is there.

Most important of all is that Ruty the owner is extremely reliable, approachable and incredible helpful with anything you need ( before, during and after the stay) nothing is too much trouble if you need help with anything she always responds to enquiries asap which is fantastic. Ruty, thank you very much for all your help. Your house is stunning and we has a wonderful time staying there. We hope to be back very soon!

Short-term Home Rental done right!

  • 5 of 5

I've had previous experience with short-term home rentals and none compared to HOW INCREDIBLE THIS STAY WAS! Even before we booked, Ruty was responsive to our inquiries and concerns. Once booking was completed, she quickly sent us all the pertinent information to make our pre-arrival go smoothly.

The house is located in a working class neighborhood, about 4 blocks from a "C" Line subway station. It can appear a little "different" if you're not from a big city. We never felt unsafe or worried, we just made sure to be alert to our surroundings. Ruty's Brownstone was/is in impeccable shape; it's clean and well maintained. Like others before me have stated, "it looked exactly the same as the pictures". The 3/2 layout was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 1 teenager. There's so much space, we never got in each other's way.

Dia, the tenant, was extremely helpful with any questions we had about the house, neighborhood or just plain getting around. I can't speak highly enough about what an amazingly smooth and professional experience it was.

We look forward to staying here again the next time we're in NYC. If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I'd say - Ruty and Dia show how to do Short-term Rental right! Keep up the great work ladies.
