Full basement with complete laundry room. What more do you need?? This house is a gem of a find!

The Neighborhood:

Bedford-Stuvesant has become the hottest part of Brooklyn. So many exciting new restaurants and cafes are opening up that it's hard to keep up with the changes. Beautiful historical neighborhood with a trendy young spirit. Safe, quiet, vibrant and super friendly. Make sure you visit our local farmer's market

Recent NY Times review of the neighborhood sums up the essence of this stunning, vibrant and constantly changing historical neighborhood.

Located in the historic district of Bedford-Stuyvesant; today a vibrant urban Caribbean/African American community (sandwiched in between the fascinating Hasidic areas of Crown Heights and Williamsburg), only 15 minutes from the Barclay Center, Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens/Zoo & Museum of Art. Nowhere else can you find such luxurious, spacious living, in the heart of New York City and only a 20 minute subway ride to Greenwich Village. the neighborhood is quiet, neighbors are warm and very friendly and you will find an abundance of fresh fruit, seafood, meat and grocery stores -- New local restaurants and coffee shops are cropping up everyday and lines wrap around the block for famous new establishments, Peaches and (vegetarian) Saraghina. Fashionable Fort Greene and Williamsburg are only minutes away on foot, by bus or subway and home to some of today's best bars and restaurants in Brooklyn

Read a Letter from a Recent Happy Guest: 'Our stay in NY and in your House were great! We really enjoyed the house and we were so happy we were not in Manhatten. We especially loved your kitchen. This was the place we sat in or in the garden. Lovely to sit there in the morning with a coffee. We also met Sylvia (neighbor) and Hannibal (her dog). We never used the sitting room because we had great weather all week.

Everything you told me about the house was right. No surprises or disappointments. It's a house with great character and we also liked the neighborhood. Nice people everywhere".

Nice brownstone

  • 4 of 5

We've stayed here with two couples and had a wonderful time. The house is large with plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen is not too big and is on the ground floor with one of the bedrooms and a bathroom. Ther're also a nice garden with chairs and a table. We didn't spend a lot of time in the living beacause that's on the first floor. Neighbourhood is fine, subway and a good supermarket are close.

Ruty promised she'll ask the janitor to solve the problems with the locks. And she paid the deposit back even before we got on the plane back home!

Spring Break

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I decided to take our 3 children (plus my niece) to New York for their spring break. We wanted a home to stay in so we could cook and sleep comfortably. After much research we decided on this home, and we are happy we did. Ruty was awesome to communicate with, and Dia was very helpful. The home is not far at all from the subway, was VERY clean and was stocked with everything we needed. There was a grocery store literally 0.2 miles away. The beds we very comfortable with nice linens. My only complaint is the front door seems to need repair or replaced. It does not seem very secure even when locked. The storm door was very secure though so we were ok. You can hear people talking and cars going by outside when you're in bed so you may want to bring a fan or ear plugs to cover it up. Ruty also released our damage deposit before we even made it home. Awesome home. I would definitely rent again!

Owner's Response: We sincerely appreciate your comments and positive feedback. We apologize for any difficulties you had with the front door, but we want to assure all guests that your security is our utmost concern. The door is totally secure, and we use custom made multi-lock keys which are impossible to copy. Please bear in mind, this is an old building. We are happy to hear you would 'definitely rent again', we definitely want you back! Thanks agin Ruty

A welcoming space

  • 5 of 5

Four of us (all > 60) stayed here over Thanksgiving 2015. The place is charming and fairly centrally located (about an 8-minute walk to the C subway line, Kingston-Throop stop). The bedrooms are enormous, especially the two towards the street, which also have the most charm. There's a stand-up shower in the bath next to the kitchen, and a clawfoot tub with shower on the third floor. There is plenty of storage room, a large flat-screen TV with DVD player, and lots of room for lounging on the second floor. We actually didn't lounge much, so can't report on the furniture there. The kitchen seemed adequately stocked with equipment, including a gas range, and there's a nice eating area in the same space. The original woodwork is beautiful. There's a nice lady living on the fourth floor who provides the keys and the initial tour. My only caveat really, is that the door locks were less than cooperative. The basement access locks seemed a little easier to negotiate than the main entry at the top of the exterior stairs. There's an adequate grocery store maybe a half mile away, on Fulton Ave towards Manhattan, mom-and-pop corner stores nearby (one really good one on Throop: Olive Leaf, or something like that) and a good dry cleaners a couple of blocks east. One must buy wine from a wine shop, not from grocery stores. Parking is on-street. The neighborhood, Bedford-Stuyvesant, is a little run down, but seems to be undergoing improvements. We never felt less than safe. If you don't mind walking a bit (that pretty much describes New York), I'd highly recommend this brownstone.
