Grand Haven House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

Beautiful and brand-new Lake Michigan vacation home nestled atop a graceful dune within walking distance of charming downtown Grand Haven, MI. This home is unique in design and location.

The third bedroom, the master suite, has a queen size bed and also has a walk-out balcony for those romantic sunsets. There are 2 full bathrooms upstairs; one in the master suite and another servicing the other guests.

The lower level consists of an open floor plan with a spacious living area, furnished in a contemporary, comfortable style, and includes a large flat-screen HD TV. Dining area and full kitchen with island are open to the main living area and look out to both the wooded dune to the north and Lake Michigan to the west. A full bath is located on the main floor as well.

About Honore Lee

I am fortunate to claim Grand Haven as my hometown. This is a beautiful lake-shore community where family and friends reside and gather year-round. After university in Kalamazoo, my husband and I settled in that vibrant community to work and raise our family. He works in real estate and I am an artist and educator. The locale here is perfectly suited to our professional endeavors and our interests. We both enjoy kayaking on the big lake, walking the beach and cycling.

Why Honore Lee chose Western Michigan

This property has been in my family for over 100 years. The original home was a small, single-story cottage with a wide front porch on a sandy dune. While the dune is still sandy, the home not be maintained as it was, and so we tore it down and re-built on the same site. It now is oriented toward the lake, with a full second floor and an open plan on the main level. We love it here, and to share the lake breezes and comfortable setting with travelers.

What makes this house unique

Grand Haven can be a bustling town in the summer, and we feel that our dune-side location offers privacy and relaxation while still within walking distance of the action. In addition, the beach is expansive and inviting, just a downhill walk away! A favorite sunset viewing spot is at the top of the public staircase, "Weber's Stairs"-- grab a drink and join in for a toast to the day!

Gorgeous home on bluff overlooking Lake Michigan

  • 5 of 5

Property is absolutely perfect for our family of 4. 3 full bedrooms and 3 full baths. Sits on top of a bluff overlooking the lake with incredible views. Location is ideal. Easy 5 minute walk and your toes are in the water. The lot is much larger than we realized with room for games, fire pit, and activities underneath the shade trees in the sand! Master suite w balcony is wonderful. Deck and grill are fantastic. Huge open family room and dining area for groups to hang out. We had a warm couple days at the end of our trip so we really could have used air conditioning. Having said that, every other night using fans, ceiling fans and the breeze it was perfectly comfortable. We could hear the waves crashing a few nights through our balcony screen. Would love to come back again next summer. Highly recommend.

House was just as described. Bit of uphill walk but keeps you in shape. Parking on concrete is very nice with room for two cars easily. Great place to stay.

You can't ask for more

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our weekend at the Virginia. The house was very well equipped, roomy and clean. The location was perfect for us, a 2 minute walk down to the beach and a great view on Lake Michigan from the House. The neighborhood was very quiet and you get a nice breeze from the Lake. Into town it's just a 5 minute ride. What else can you ask for besides being able to afford this more often. Unfortunately in the summer properties like this are only rented by the week. Will have to come back in the shoulder season. :)

And btw, the booking process was hassle free and the communication with the owner very pleasant.

Notes:
Our home is attractive, yet comfortable and appropriate for all ages. We have a fire bowl outside for evening marshmallow roasts, and a nice deck for late-night gatherings or early-morning coffee. Grilling is a popular choice after a day sight-seeing and beach-combing. Bikes are available for cruising the area and the boogie boards are fun for bouncing in the waves.
