Intense weekend gateway for adventure lovers

  • 5 of 5

The major problem with our stay was that it was way too short. Simply put: we had a blast. Having active kids takes a lot planning to keep them busy and happy!

Even if we arrived late night Friday, the house was welcoming and clean. We unpacked and settled in roomy bedrooms, grabbed quick supper, tucked kids into beds and enjoyed late night music courtesy of the forest. Yes, it is woods in the mountains so bring extra sweater and a bug spray!

We went hiking in the Bushkill Falls nearby, afterwards kids played golf and swam on the row boats. Since the house is equipped with various cooking paraphernalia’s and grill, we made an appropriate use of it to get us dinner in no time.

Next day we had horses booked at the stables (included! Yay!) later we explored the nearby basketball and tennis courts and pool. It was perfect! I was speechless because it turned out it is heated! So even weather was not that summery, water was perfect!

Because we bike for fun we had to check the trails. It may be challenging for some but sure enough we exhausted ourselves and kids as well!

Before you go, keep in mind what is that you want to do and bring extras that your family uses to avoid running to the store. (Unless you are like me a driving maniac that likes windy roads! Or need a moment for themselves). Check the attractions nearby because not everyone like outdoors like we do! And there is plenty other things we saw that maybe fun.

Overall, the house is (was when we arrived 😊) neat and roomy. It is more remote, so not that much car traffic which is a plus for kids playing outside! It provides plenty of equipment to cook and have your meals served home style with full sized dining table next to the kitchen. The extras like pool, sports area and horses makes it a go for weekend or vacation getaway.

All I wished for was an extra day, so I could take a break from all the activities we had!

Thanks Anna!

Worn out, broken down and bug infested.

  • 1 of 5

*This overdue review is for a stay from last year:

Myself, two girlfriends and our two babies under two years old spent two very memorable nights at this house. While all of our transactions with the owner were timely, professional and pleasant, our stay was not exactly as we had expected. First as we arrived we noted that the "gated" development is nothing more than an unmanned fence- anyone could walk right in. Should you stay here, DO NOT TRUST YOUR GPS! Once we found the house we couldn't believe it was the same from the listing--With silver duct tape holding the front door together? And the front step of rotted wood brimming with carpenter ants? That didn't make it into the online photos.

Inside, couches had slipcovers with holes in them we were too scared to see what was under. As we moved through the living room we were also greeted by blinds that were broken, falling, and warped from hanging over the heat vents that lined the floors, scratches on all the walls, dirty stained dining chairs and more carpenter ants.

Our first day was rainy and cold so we turned on the heat--floor radiators + babies on the move= kids that get burned. After we used our luggage to set up a border between the kids and heat and dried some tears, we were all set. Another non-kid-friendly thing we wish had been mentioned in the ad is the fact that the TV pictured on the wall is, in fact, not on the wall. It sits low on the ground on a TV stand within easy access of curious babies who just love to push buttons. Taking mental note of and sucking up all of these things, we fed the kiddos and started bath time so the grown-ups could then eat and enjoy the hot tub. ANOTHER non-kid-friendly surprise? The one bathroom in the house with any shower/tub does not have a tub stopper. I will say that the kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and kitchen gadgets and is hands-down the nicest room in the house.

Worst? By nightfall we were under a full-on attack by carpenter ants, cicadas and moths with only can of Lysol and a random shoe to protect ourselves. Now, you can expect a certain number of pests in the forest mountains, sure, but this was beyond reasonable. Overall, this house could use one serious scrubbing, new furniture, an exterminator & more accurate photos. I get the feeling that the owner hasn't visited this property in some time. On our next vacation we'll do more research and select a place that is more kid friendly & not held together by duct tape.

Owner's Response: thank you for review but it has nothing to do with our house; the house is fully renovated last year and all these allegations have nothing to do with our house. it little hurts that people write things like that and you can't do anything just try to have hope that people will not relay on one opinion and read others too.

Amazing home that had everything.

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely perfect in every way. It was VERY clean when we got there. There was soap, towels, linens, blankets, throws, dishes, and even some spices! There was even a dryer to dry our clothes after we used the amazing hot tub! There were 8 of us and we did not have a single complaint about the house-- it was perfect in every way.

The beds were large and plenty. The location was also amazing, the house is very close to Bushkill Falls, hiking trails, restaurants, and more. We used the ranch to ride horses free range and we also did a trail with the horses. This was all included in the stay!

The host is extremely responsive and was available on the telephone to help with anything, although we only bothered her because our gps wasn't working.

We are looking forward to going back!

July 4th weekend

  • 5 of 5

We spent our 4th of July company outing weekend at this cozy place tucked away in a secluded peaceful area of Bushkill. The house is very clean when we got there and everything is functional. Linens, pillows, towels were all provided. The cookingware and kitchen utensils are all complete. The best feature is the tub of course and is our favorite! We were hanging out all night at the tub and the grill also worked very well. The house is about 20-30 min away from the Pocono TreeVentures where we did rope courses and zip lines. We also enjoyed eating at Muller's Diner, really good food and affordable prices, and it's also about half an hour away. Anna definitely gave us a good customer service and it wasn't a hassle to get our deposit back. We will surely rent this house again!

Memorial Day Weekend 2012

  • 4 of 5

Me and my friends have spent here Memorial Day Weekend - and this place is definitely great for that .

There is plenty of space inside the house - even with 8 adults and 3 small kids running around .

The fact that this place has included acces to the pool , tenis court and my favorite Horse Back Riding - makes it really worth the money we've spent.( In the winter, ski lift passes are also included). Plus - there is jacuzzi on the premisses , and that just added to the fun.

Miss Ania - the owner - pleasure to dill with. If there is anything amiss - just call and ask to get it fixed. After the weekend I've got the deposit back in no time.

Few practical things to remember - if you go there with bigger group of people ,

it is a good idea to get more paper towels and toilet paper. It simply runs out quickly. Getting your own laundry detergent , dish liquid and fire wood for fire place - also a good idea.

If anyone needs internet access -there is a cable wire but not the wireless router. Wasn't really a problem ( maybe that is even better - no one was stack on there machines all day !!) .

The house is really secluded - in the middle of the woods and I love that.

Nice and quiet - except the wild turkeys concerts and often visits by deer.

If we'll have chance - we will rent this place agin :-)
