Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Come and relax in the tranquility of nature in this unique home perched on edge of the salt marsh on the back side of Wild Dunes. Dramatic, open architecture, with sweeping marsh views, looking out to Dewees inlet. Have morning coffee in the porch rockers, walk 15 minutes to a beautiful, uncrowded beach, take a ride around the island on one of our 5 bicycles, or enjoy all the golf, tennis and swimming that Wild Dunes has to offer. Spend your afternoon relaxing with a book in the hammock or one of the comfy window seats, or take a glass of wine to the porch rockers and watch the afternoon clouds move over the marsh. When dinner time rolls around, create your own low country cuisine in our fully equipped kitchen -- or venture out to Charleston, Mount Pleasant or Sullivan's Island to one of the many amazing area restaurants.

Unique features of this home include the 14 rocking chairs, distinctive post-and-beam architecture, gourmet kitchen, 3,000 sq. ft. open floor plan, elevator and 90-inch Mitsubishi front projection HDTV (but most of all THE VIEW!)

Perfect for six people and will work for eight (three bedrooms with queen-size beds, plus an extra 'half bedroom' with double-size bed). Two full baths and one large powder room, plus outdoor hotwater shower. High quality linens. Master bedroom has 32-inch Sony LCD HDTV and private balcony with two rockers. High speed wireless internet access via cable modem at no charge.

Hardwood floors throughout. Granite in kitchen and baths. Cathedral ceilings in loft and master bedroom. Fully-equipped kitchen with two ovens, Sub-Zero refrigerator, recipe books, etc. Screen porch with four rockers and sofa. Covered porch with four rockers and dining for for six. Living room with large sofa and four swivel rockers, ideal for viewing marsh or 90-inch front projection HDTV. Laundry room with washer and dryer. Sports Card for access to Wild Dunes fitness, golf, swimming and tennis facilities (though you pay activity fees).

One of the most outstanding features of this home is the architecture. Designed by Peter Bohlin, recipient of the 2010 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and designer of the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in NYC, it feels spacious and expansive with dramatic angles, striking architectural features -- and huge windows that make you feel as though your are in the midst of nature, not looking out at it. Photos and words don't do it justice -- you just have to experience it!

Weekly rentals are accepted on a Sunday to Sunday basis. Not suitable for children under the age of eight due to open balconies, elevator, unlocked cabinets, etc. No pets, no parties, no smoking.

We enjoyed a relaxing girls weekend in this spacious, comfortable home. The views from the porches are amazing. The house has everything you need including a first class entertainment system.

National Geographic Setting

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a quick family get-away the week after Christmas. The house was beautiful, architecture stunning, and the marsh views were simply amazing. We were able to see so many different kinds of wildlife, it felt as though we were in a National Geographic setting. We actually saw two bucks fighting in the marsh outside our window!

It was quiet, secluded, private, and owners were easy to work with and accessible. Enjoyed the boardwalk, bike rides, quiet walks, great music and sound system, and especially the unbeatable views from floor-to-ceiling windows.

We would most definitely re-book this lovely home!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Seagrass Lane is perhaps the best location in Wild Dunes!

This home has privacy, and probably the most beautiful view of the marsh, that is available.

The view is great in the photo, however, it's a "wow" when you enter the home.

I found the home to be very clean, well stocked, and very relaxing for a group.

Our family enjoyed the central living space, that accommodates everyone to be together,

and the spacious porch.

The owners quickly respond to enquiries, and were most helpful.

We hope to return in the future.

The Marsh House - August 2016

  • 4 of 5

The renting process was very smooth with the keys arriving 1 week prior. Detail instructions very helpful and accurate. The house is located at the back of Wild Dunes so you have a very quite and peaceful place to relax and WOW the views. We spent every morning and every evening into the night on that back porch. So very relaxing. The location and the views are the highlight of this vacation property!

The second floor features two bedrooms and a shared bath. The architecture of the home allows both bedrooms to open to the main floor which diminishes privacy on the second floor. The noise of the main floor (emptying the dishwasher or having the ball game on) seems to echo on the second floor so if you have teenagers that like to sleep in that might be an issue. We enjoy to cook and found the kitchen lacking of some essentials (platters, serving bowls, prep bowls, appetizer plates) but we understand that most people go on vacation not to cook! The towels are in need of upgrades. They are of a better quality but are faded. The couch had also seen it's better days. I know we rented at the end of a very busy season but all of the doors and door jams were in need of a very good clean. The bikes were functional to a minimum degree (the chain slips bad on one beach bike and the other one makes a clunking noise). There are two other bikes available (not for the beach) and one of them (white one) works beautifully but the blue one's gears are messing up. We also found it very inconvenient to take the trash to the dumpster the day you leave. I just don't understand why you can't leave it in the trash bins. Overall the property was a delight! We would rent again without taking the teenagers (that would elevate most of the problems we had with the property: Noise, cooking, bikes). Compare to most homes in this price point the house is very nice!
