Come and relax in the tranquility of nature in this unique home perched on edge of the salt marsh on the inlet side of Wild Dunes. Dramatic, open architecture, with sweeping marsh views, looking out to Dewees inlet. Have morning coffee in the porch rockers, walk 15 minutes to a beautiful, uncrowded beach, take a ride around the island on one of our 4 bicycles, or enjoy all the golf, tennis and swimming that Wild Dunes has to offer. Spend your afternoon relaxing with a book in the hammock or one of the comfy window seats, or take a glass of wine to the porch rockers and watch the afternoon clouds move over the marsh. When dinner time rolls around, create your own low country cuisine in our fully equipped kitchen -- or venture out to Charleston, Mount Pleasant or Sullivan's Island to one of the many amazing area restaurants.
Unique features of this home include the 14 rocking chairs, distinctive post-and-beam architecture, gourmet kitchen, 3,000 sq. ft. open floor plan, elevator and 90-inch Mitsubishi front projection HDTV (but most of all THE VIEW!)
Perfect for six people and will work for eight (three bedrooms with queen-size beds, plus an extra 'half bedroom' with double-size bed). Two full baths and one large powder room, plus outdoor hot-water shower. High-quality linens. Master bedroom has Sony LCD HDTV and private balcony with two rockers. High-speed, free WiFi.
Hardwood floors throughout. Granite in kitchen and baths. Cathedral ceilings in loft and master bedroom. Fully-equipped kitchen with two ovens, Sub-Zero refrigerator, recipe books, etc. Screen porch with four rockers and sofa. Covered porch with four rockers and dining for for six. One of the most outstanding features of this home is the architecture. Designed by Peter Bohlin, recipient of the 2010 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and designer of the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in NYC, it feels spacious and expansive with dramatic angles, striking architectural features -- and huge windows that make you feel as though your are in the midst of nature, not looking out at it. Photos and words don't do it justice -- you just have to experience it!
Weekly rentals are accepted on a Sunday to Sunday basis. Not suitable for children under the age of eight due to open balconies, elevator, unlocked cabinets, etc. No pets, no parties, no smoking.

Way better than five stars! This exquisitely designed house is for those who desire a peaceful retreat in a sublime setting. The views from the porches and especially the Master Suite are so peaceful that one would never want to leave. The sunsets over the marsh are stunning.
The main living area is spacious, light and just perfect for entertaining a large family group for meals. The private boardwalk to the beach over the marsh is fun and there is a good swimming beach only a short distance from the end of the boardwalk. There are bikes and a beach cart for use in the garage.
This is not the type of house where you would want to have small children on vacation because of the loft area and the technical equipment in the house (elevator, alarm system, descending screen for the television). However we had three boys nine to almost 13 who were old enough to be aware and obey rules who thoroughly enjoyed sharing the spacious loft bedroom with their own window box view of the marsh for reading and their own TV and games area. The kitchen was perfect for us with everything needed to prepare meals as we ate all of our meals in. The elevator worked well for bringing up luggage and it also made the house accessible for our 94 year old grandad who was with us. He had a bedroom right across from the elevator with his own bathroom. He loved reading on the porches.
The neighborhood is very quiet. It was a joy to experience this property. The owners were very responsive, helpful and patient with us!
We recently stayed at this incredible marsh house and I was *WOWED* by the view. The house is a wall of windows, and watching the marsh fill and empty with the tides is a sight to behold. I hope to visit this amazing house again soon. And thank you, Cindy and Gene, for being such friendly and responsive hosts.
A beautiful as photos and more
Beautiful home in a peaceful area with stunning and unobstructed views of the marsh. Perfect setting for a ladies weekend retreat. Owners were extremely hospitable. The home was well appointed and well maintained.
Thank you for a great stay!
As previously mentioned by others.. This house is beautiful, secluded, immaculate, well equipped, etc. The owners are an absolute pleasure to work with. The views are next to none on the island.. Tucked nicely away from noisy crowds but conveniently close to everything. We've been gone for 5 hours and miss it already. Cannot wait for the opportunity to visit The Marsh House again!
Beautiful place to relax with the family!
Our family enjoyed a fantastic week together at the beautiful Marsh House and loved the accommodations and location of this peaceful place! We were surrounded by gorgeous views and enjoyed watching for wildlife from the amazing porch... on one of our returns from the private beach, we were even greeted in the driveway by two baby deer exploring with their moms...so sweet!! The owners, Gene and Cindy, were so easy to reach by phone for questions during our stay and everything we needed during the week was provided. The kids are already asking when we can go back for another stay!!
We had a wonderful week at the Marsh House. The house is just as described. It was immaculate with beautiful views. The kitchen was well appointed and the family room was very comfortable. We used the bikes (we liked to ride our bikes to see the turtles and alligator in the pond in the middle of the island) and beach accessories supplied everyday. Getting to the beach was easy, we usually drove and parked across from the Wild Dunes Resort. We found we didn't need the resort card. Parking was always available. The beach is fantastic on IOP. Other days we sea kayaked, rented a boat and toured around Charleston Harbor and of course we spent some time in Charleston. Lots of things to do. A few of our favorite restaurants were the Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan Island, The Boat House, and the Peninsula Grill (Charleston). After a day at the beach it was fun to come back to the house and use the outdoor shower. Later in the evening we would watch movies on the projection TV that came down from the ceiling. Can't wait to return.
