'A lasting monument to the genius of one man, this civilized city of classy squares and cafes is often neglected in favour of its illustrious neighbors. Time to put that right,' says Tim Pozzi
Our family has stayed in this apt. twice now- the first time for 4 nites(6/08) and the second time for 7 nites(6/10) and we cannot wait to go back. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths , full kitchen, and room to spread out--all for less than the cost of a hotel room. Fabulous grocery store across the street with an incredible selection of cured meats and cheeses, friendly greengrocer, and an abundance of excellent restaurants in walking distance. Great for daytrips- take the train to Venice or Padua or Verona- no traffic or parking hassles! Drive your car to Bassano del Grappa, Asolo, and other quaint nearby historic and cultural towns. Vicenza itself is worth 1-2 days of walking around and sightseeing. Drive out into the countryside or take tour of the villas of Palladio. The apt. itself is clean, well equipped, and spacious. The owner has a nice library of guidebooks and local touring info and connects you to the local businesses, restaurants, coffeehouses, etc. It is about a 2-2 1/2 hr drive from Malpensa airport in Milan. A perfect place to unwind after flying in. The photos and desciptions are spot-on. You could do without a car but I could not imagine missing out on driving in the Italian countryside. The underground parking is a bit tight but doable.
We stayed in the apartment for four nights hoping to explore all that Vicenza had to offer. The apartment was perfectly located for a quiet and peaceful stay, but less than ten minutes walk into the historic centre and a similar distance to begin the walk to the rural villas etc.
The apartment is large and spacious - the bright and sunny lounge is a particularly pleasant room for relaxation. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds excellent.
The local shops and bars were excellent and we ate extremely well while we were here. (If you don't know Italy remember that most shops and restaurants may be closed on a Monday.)
Vicenza is beautiful and staying here allowed us to see the city at its best (most tourists seemed to come for the day). The Palladio museum is a good place to begin sightseeing to understand the great architect and the Theatre Olympico is just breath-taking!
This apartment in Vicenza is in an excellent location with local services a few steps away and friendly locals who assist non-Italian-speaking tourists. The apartment itself is very comfortable, beautifully quiet and close to the centre of town. The owner's recommendations are very helpful indeed. We would certainly return to Vicenza and to this apartment if the opportunity arose. The Palladian architecture is glorious. We recommend highly the restaurant Angolo Palladio in Piazza del Signori. The waiters are exceptional.
The wonderful Juanita greeted us, showed us around and became a great assistance during our 2 week stay. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the station, very good local shopping, restaurants and the centre of town.
A minor car parking problem was sorted in minutes: there were no other problems at this lovely, well appointed apartment.
My wife and I and my two daughters aged 20 & 18 stayed for five nights in December 2013 in this most wonderful apartment. Its description was exactly as it was described to us in the VRBO listing.
The bedrooms were roomy and the beds were comfortable and had plenty of wardrobe space. The two bathrooms were excellent, along with the well equipped kitchen which enabled us to cook some of our own meals and there was also an eating area and a large lounge room with television and mini library.
There was also a third bedroom if needed. There was a washing machine in the laundry which was easy to use and the heating was also good.
The security to the building and apartment was excellent and there was a lift to use.
In close proximity there was an excellent supermarket with a delicatessen, a butcher, a fruit and vegetable shop with the most delightful owner her name was Raffeala, the produce was beautiful. There was also a dry cleaner which we used.
The apartment was very clean on our arrival.
It is close to the railway station and very easy to find once alighting from the train. There are restaurants near the apartment.
It is a short walk into the centre of Vicenza which was absolutely beautiful with plenty of coffee shops and restaurants, many with WIFI which was very handy.
The shopping was very good with plenty market stalls also. The city of Vicenza had plenty of history to discover and time must be put aside to walk through a lot of the old buildings. A trip to the town of Verona by train from Vicenza train station is a must.
We had an excellent five night stay in this apartment and would strongly recommend this apartment. When we return to Italy we will definitely stay here again.
The pleasure derived from opening the shutters of this impeccably clean and appointed apartment was ten fold. The linens, modern kitchen and bathrooms and charming antique furniture were so inviting and comfortable in this spacious 3 bedroom apartment. Wonderful storage for all belongings was a bonus and helped you feel that you were a traveler staying in a home rather than tourist in a cramped hotel room. The interesting art and books and even a piano just added to the texture of our stay in Vicenza. The location could not be more perfect as it was close to the train station and all of the destinations in the Veneto and also to the Palladian Villas and buildings in and around Vicenza. I was transported to the 1500's when I walked from the apartment to Palladio's Rotunda. All of the other Palladian buildings are steps away. Truly a remarkable apartment in a remarkable location.
Sandwiched between Venice and Verona, Vicenza has somehow slipped off the tourist circuit, yet the historic centre is a Unesco World Heritage Site, with peaceful squares and porticoed streets graced by life-sized statues and picturesque balconies designed by the great architect Palladio and his followers. It's a wealthy city, with plenty of art, good shopping and excellent restaurants. I could not have said it better myself!
Our non smoking home is a five minute walk to the Piazza dei Signori (the center of the city). It is centrally located just a few steps from the ancient walls and Roman ruins. You will fine Regency table and chairs, Down filled linen velvet designer sofa, an 1800's pear wood corner cupboard, argentine onyx coffee table, 17 century light fixtures and hand made lamp shades. I enjoy the short walk through the park to the train station, where Venice, Padova and Verona are just minutes away. No need for a car, but if you do have one, we have a covered locked garage.
