First I would like to say Thank you for helping me have one of the very best birthdays to date! The Tranquility II really exceeded my expectations. Bert was very quick and professional with responding to my inquiries and placing my reservation. Barbara greeted us when we arrived and she was extremely and helpful. Bert really hired a great person to oversee the property. The phone wasn't working, but Bert had it fixed immediately. The townhouse includes a Vonage phone so you can make free calls! This is great so you don’t have to worry about huge charges on your cell phone or buying phone cards. The property grounds were very well kept and gated. The unit itself is very clean, tv's in every room. There are DVDs, cd player, and an XBox for entertainment. The only thing you need to bring is food to stock the pantry. We grilled out one of the nights on the patio and watched the sunset on the ocean as we ate. The pictures represent Exactly what this place looks like and you will not be disappointed. The bus stops right in front of the property; it's the #10 ($1.25 per person each way) and it goes into downtown Nassau on Bay street where you will find the famous Straw Market (you can buy trinkets and bargain for merchandise), diamond dealers, Starbucks, a couple of banks, Pharmacies, and other stores. A few minutes before the market is a place called the Fish Fry where there are local restaurants that sell the best seafood, steak, and chicken. We ate at a place called the Twin Brothers and it was delicious. If you get there before 4pm, they have a very reasonably priced special (lobster tail for $14.99!). You can also ask to be let off at the Food Store to buy groceries. Once you get into town, you can walk behind the straw market and pay $6 round trip per person to take the Ferry to Atlantis Paradise Island. After being at the tranquility property, Atlantis was boring! I am so glad we chose to stay at Bert's property instead of at Atlantis. It was fun to go to the casino, however.
Tips: Bring plenty of money for groceries. The Bahamas is expensive and eating out is going to cost you a lot. If you go to the straw market, do not accept the first price given. All of the merchants sell the same items, someone will sell it to you for the price YOU want to pay. The citizens are very nice and always provide great service so it is good to tip them, but they will not insist you do like on other Caribbean islands like Jamaica.
Our trip was amazing. The condo was perfect for our needs. There were 6 of us in total and everyone had their privacy. The furniture was nice and the beds weren't bad. The kitchen was pretty well equipped. We cooked everyday so there were a few things that we had to improvise on.
The sunsets off the back porch are unbeatable. We made it a point to be out back every night as the sun went down. Two nights we were able to see a sea turtle not far from the deck.
The other reviews are accurate when they say that the bus will pick you up right at the gate. The longest we had to wait on a bus was 3 minutes. They will basically take you where you want to go if you ask them. Several times we had them take us over to Paradise Island and just gave them the $4 we would have given the ferry. This was especially nice because we had a 3 year old with us.
The pools on the property were nice and there was hardly ever anyone in them. My daughter found 8 conch shells just around the grounds. This made her trip!! We left them on the back porch for all to enjoy.
The highlight of the trip for all 6 of us was the trip to Rose Island. We booked online with sandy toes. While we were there we had a buffet lunch, which was great, and snorkeled. The water was so clear that I was able to walk out to the reef with the 3 year old on my hip. He was able to see just as many fish as the snorkelers.
The only negative to the trip was the confusion when we landed. Our check in instructions said to call Barbara, but Barbara didn't answer. We called several times and so did the cab company. Her voicemail wasn't set up and she never answered. My frustration and anxiety was really growing as we stood there pouring the sweat waiting. Finally, we decided to just have the cab take us to the condo. On the way there he lectured us about sending our payment in advance and people scamming us. Needless to say my anxiety was running on overtime. The folks that work the gate let us in, but there was no one at the condo. I decided to just go try the door, thankfully it was unlocked. I was so relieved!!! I decided not to let that affect our trip. Barbara did show up and took us to the store as promised.
I would definitely stay there again and have already recommended this place to friends and family. This was by far our best family vacation ever.
The townhouse worked perfect for my family of 6. It was very clean and Barbie was excellent to deal with. My only negative is I wish the beach would have been closer. We had a car and drove to the beach each day. For the price and the quality of the townhouse we were very pleased.
This was a great town home for our family of 5 to use for our 4 night stay in Nassau. The view is amazing! The home is equipped with everything you need, the kitchen is updated and clean. There are board games in addition to an XBOX for the kids to play. Barbara took us to the grocery store and helped us get set up and gave us a lay of the land. You will need a car when staying here as there isn't much sidewalk outside of the complex gates. We felt safe and had a great time using the pool and swimming at the beach. We'd definitely go back and stay at Tranquility!
This duplex is perfectly situated on the island, near the best beaches on the North side. Villa is kept in excellent condition and has everything you need. We were looking for something away from the restricted and expensive resort atmosphere, but still close to nice beaches and amenities. This property has access to a very nice and quiet beach of its own. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful stay at Tranquility Nassau Ocean in August, 2013. We were 2 adults and four late teens, and everyone was happy. It definitely exceeded our expectations. Barb & Barbie provided outstanding service that could not be beat. The local buses with pickups right at the front gate made getting around the island very easy, not to mention inexpensive, at $1.25 each way. Supermarkets are within walking distance, or an easy bus trip. The unit was spacious & very clean. We really enjoyed being able to see both the sunrise on one side of the complex & then later the beautiful sunset right from our deck! We were all amazed to find great snorkelling just off of our deck! We would absolutely stay here again!
