Loved it; 4.5

Despite very cold weather, we had a great time in this cozy cabin, sitting in front of warm fireplace, reading, talking. Wall heater works well too, keeping temp at whatever you set it. Sitting in hot tub on deck, overlooking stream while hubby hunted the elusive trout was pure heaven. We did bring a 5 gallon water jug; sulphur water is pretty smelly although perfectly safe. Didn't sit on deck or around fire due to cold weather, but can imagine doing so with pleasure. No problem getting there, but we are well used to windy mountain roads. The other cabin on the property is angled away so you never notice them, but there is a fire ring in opposite bank of stream for house viable from deck. Still very relaxing and remote feeling, while being less than 25 minutes from Boone. It's a one room cabin with a bath, very well constructed. Perfect for a romantic getaway for my fly fishing husband as a birthday gift. Our dog Spunk thoroughly approved too, and her old bones were grateful to lie in front of fire after traipsing thru icy cold streams following her trout crazed master. We will be back, and will check out her other properties.

Rest and Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

After my nerves were shocked from the scary winding roads next to the very steep cliff, I found the cabin to be just what I needed. The only sound was from the bubbling stream which was so peaceful and calming to the soul. The cabin was rustic but had somewhat of a romantic charm about it. While it was cold this weekend, the hot tub and fireplace kept us warm. Would definitely consider coming back with more family and renting the cabin next door too.

Relaxing , Gorgeous Scenery

  • 4 of 5

We just recently stayed here and had a great time! It was a charming little cabin and the kitchen had all of the utensils/pots/pans etc that you need. The back deck was so relaxing, to just sit out there and listen to the creek was very enjoyable. There was also a picnic table and fire pit by the creek.

On a different note, the water does have a smell. But we just brought our own for drinking. There is no bathtub only a shower, which may be a problem if you have small children. I have a 1 1/2 year old so that made bath time difficult. Keep in mind the road in is very long and windy. The closest store is 15ish miles away so make sure you get what you need on the way in unless you want to leave again.

None of these factors would keep me from staying there again. I would definitely recommend this place!!

Wonderful Property.

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Our friends rented the other cabin that is about 50 yards away so we got to enjoy their covered porch on the rainy days. The kids (age 5,4 and 2) played in the creek from Morning till Night. The only reason the I didn't give 5 stars was our cabin had a strange smell when we first arrived a bit like a a public restroom and a wet dog. However we opened all the windows and turned on the fireplace and lit a candle and flushed the toilet a few times (because we think it had something to do with the cleaner that was used) and it aired out quickly. Besides this, the cabin was very clean. The husbands really enjoyed fishing in the creek. We loved seeing the King Fisher birds fly along the creek and the bats drinking from it at night and my husband saw a 4 foot otter and said they had a moment :) Great place to connect with nature and about 30 minutes from the Boone Earthfare for grocery's. The fridge in the house is very small but there is a full sized one under the house where the washer and dryer are. We would love to stay here again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us.

Very Nice Set-Up

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice cabin at a good price. Though it is only a one room cabin, it is actually very spacious, and it has a nice hot tub, so that's definitely a plus. The only things that I didn't enjoy (not at the fault of the cabin owners) were 1. the sulfur water (which they do warn about beforehand), and 2. the unpaved, incredibly swervy one-laned roads leading to the cabin. Overall, a good deal.

Wonderful getaway cabin

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I went up for the weekend and had a great experience. The serenity and beauty of staying in this cabin, on the creek, was above and beyond what we expected. We have nothing negative to say about our stay. The cabin is situated just far enough away but if you must go, Boone is a short 25 minute ride back up the mountain on a scenic road.

I would recommend this to anyone who needs to getaway and like us, is tired of staying in Inns and hotels. For the same price you can stay here. Our cabin is one of 3 on the property but they are situated so you still feel secluded.
