About Kris (or Ilka or Dave)
We're a group of 4 married couples (and longtime friends) who would frequently vacation in Palm Springs. It didn't take long to appreciate what a special community exists, and we were fortunate enough to pick up this house in 2008. Our love for the house and the town has only grown, and we're so happy to share both with our guests. Have a martini on us! We really enjoyed our stay here once again. It’s always clean and well stocked and everything functions well. Thank you.
Fun Family Vacation sSpot
This was a cute mid-century modern and was as described. Nice deep pool with 4 chaise lounges and 2 floating chairs available for sunning in/around pool. Loved the covered area for enjoying indoor/outdoor living. Nice big yard. Many toys and games available for kids. Easy/quick drive to tramway and nice park across the road.. Having a bathtub was perfect for bathing the toddler. House was clean and no maintenance issues. I was worried about the road out front but it wasn't that busy and easy to get in and out of driveway. I also appreciated the nice robes to use in all the bedrooms.
Although we had a great time, and pool was wonderful, we were very disappointed to find the place not very clean, I.e., dirty mop left in kitchen sink, different things on floor which indicated it was vacuumed thoroughly; never could get the TV to come on, pool guy didn't show on the days stated in info book (we had to call owner to get him out there),; never did meet the manager, who was supposedly to do a ten minute walk-thru with us, and also check us out; we were supposed to be credited a day of pool heating because they didn't get it turned on soon enough for our arrival date, but didn't. While owner was pleasant on phone and via emails prior to our renting, he wouldn't respond after when I told him the problems we had. Beds were comfortable, but in the future we'll stay elsewhere for the amount of money it cost.
Hi, Donna, we hope overall your trip to beautiful Palm Springs was relaxing and enjoyable. We're truly disappointed as well that some details of your stay didn't live up to your expectations, and we wanted to address those issues. We've checked with our cleaning service to get clarity on how that could have happened (we are clean freaks!) and to make sure it won't happen in the future.
In regard to the TV, we are unsure why it wasn't working for you - we apologize! We've confirmed the TV and cable are working properly as of now. But we understand your disappointment.
The pool service in Palm Springs definitely gets backed up during windy periods as all the pools need cleaning at the same time. I hope they were still able to get to our home in a reasonable time. It can be super frustrating when these things don't happen on schedule.
To address the pool heat, our apologies, we simply don't recall this issue. All of the owners spoke with you several times throughout your stay and we made every effort to address any issues you brought to our attention, but that's not one we remember. We're more than happy to refund the fee for the day the pool wasn't heated to your liking.
Again, it's so disappointing for us to hear this as we really try to make sure guests at our home have only the best experience. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us privately to discuss anything in the future.
All the very best from us.
We had a fabulous stay at martini weekend! The heated pool was great for the kids, the kitchen was fully stocked and the beds were heavenly! Thank you for a great weekend!
Cool decor, great pool!
We had a fun girls weekend here to celebrate two birthdays. The space was well laid out, comfortable and easy to hang out in. The kitchen was well stocked-- we ate in several times and had everything we needed. We also used the grill one night. The terry cloth robes and plenty of towels were a nice addition to make out stay more comfortable. And the pool was awesome!
Leading up to the reservation Ilka and Dave were easy to communicate with-- I had a few questions and they got back to me within minutes. While we were there the property manager was easy to get ahold of as well. This was an overall great experience, and I would go back!
Lovely poolside mid-century house in the historic Racquet Club Estates
This is our family of fours (13yrs and 9yrs) second time staying in this area for Thanksgiving. The house is simply but nicely furnished and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The pool was great (quite deep in the middle which was OK as all of us are swimmers). We paid for heating it as it was November, and it took about a day to get up to temperature. Everyone had lots of fun- there were floatables, loungers and plenty of pool towels. Wifi is good, and there are a very large selection of DVDs to watch and Netflix if you have an account. The location is close (15-20 mins walkable) to some good food spots (eg Sandfish, The Ice Cream Shoppe, Ernest coffee), and opposite a park with play area/volleyball. Main downtown is further and a drive or 40 min walk. We went to the Palm Springs Art Museum which the kids actually really liked- the Bistro there has some nice lunch options. We also went back to The Living Zoo which is great. The only downside with the property would be the view towards the mountains in the backyard is marred by power lines which is a bit of a shame, and it's a bit noisy at times with traffic at night. Planes go over as well- its close to the airport, but we didn't find that a problem. Otherwise it's a really nice place to stay and the area is fabulous.
