About Kris (or Ilka or Dave)
We're a group of 4 married couples (and longtime friends) who would frequently vacation in Palm Springs. It didn't take long to appreciate what a special community exists, and we were fortunate enough to pick up this house in 2008. Our love for the house and the town has only grown, and we're so happy to share both with our guests. Have a martini on us! Ring a Ding Ding
Mid century Alexander home with a private pool and great entertaining space. Kitchen was well equipped as advertised.
Far enough from downtown that you’d need a car and on a somewhat busy street, however you never heard street traffic from inside the house.
Overall a very nice place.
This place worked well for 3 couples. The pool and backyard were nice.
After reviewing many properties online, we decided on the Martini Weekend. It seemed like the perfect place for a girls getaway. Teri (the property manager) arrived soon after we did. She was very friendly and helpful.
It was evident upon our arrival that this property is tired and in desperate need of a refresh. It isn’t like the photos online. Furniture is fraying and uncomfortable, rugs are stained, coffee cups are stained, and the landscape definitely needs help. In the photos a TV was in the master, but not during our stay.
While the pool definitely needs updating, , it was wonderful! We paid for heat and it was heated and very comfortable except on our last full day, we woke to a much cooler pool, really disappointing. We let Teri know about the heat issue and she said the owner controls that. No resolve.
Communication was confusing. Book said pool person comes on Monday and Thursday. We let Teri know on Monday evening that no one had come by on either Thursday or Monday and she told us it was Tuesday and Friday. Every scheduled day we stayed out of the pool much of the day and yet no one ever showed. Our entire 9 day stay had no pool maintenance. By the end of our stay, the pool was dirty with debris floating on top and also on the bottom.
Noise could be an issue for some. Racquet Club Road is loud and busy. This property is also in the flight path for the Palm Springs Airport.
One morning we woke to no power in the kitchen. We found the circuit box and flipped the breaker. Power was restored. It’s very apparent that the wiring is old in this home.
This was our 6th Palm Springs rental and it was our least favorite. This property has great potential and could be a real gem if the owners invest in it.
Though it stings a little to get a critical review, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience so that we may grow and improve our offerings.
While you make many fine points, your frustration with the communication is something I regret most of all as it would have been easy to avoid, and highlights a mistake I made. When the pool maintenance and heater trouble was brought to our attention we immediately contacted our pool care company and investigated the pool cleaning schedule and the heater maintenance. As it was the day of your departure, I made the mistake of not responding back to you personally as it was clear the issues could not be addressed prior to you checking out that morning. That said, we’ve since repaired the pool heater and received further assurances that the pool was being cleaned as scheduled.
Running a vacation rental in the desert has it’s many pluses but a few minuses. One is the fact that the airport is located in the center of town. Depending on the direction of the wind, every home within Palm Springs proper is in the airports flight path at one point or another. Additionally, as noted in the booking email, the desert wind can, at times, blow dust and debris into the yard and pool. It’s something we make every effort to curtail, but with longer stays it can sometimes it gets the better of us. Lastly, the few times we received complaints regarding road noise we’ve learned there has been construction in the area. While it is a wide road, it’s generally pretty quiet - personally I’ve spent many lazy afternoons napping on a float in the pool without a disturbance.
Lastly, we appreciate you bringing the condition of some furnishings to our attention. Due, in no small part to your feedback, we’ll be conducting a thorough review of the property ourselves and work to improve this quickly and tastefully.

Great house! Great location! Teri (property manager) was on it - the coffee machine broke and we had a new one almost instantly! Definitely recommending the property to others and will stay here again.
Our Martini - Bikini Week
We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, the layout was perfect for us. All the amenities were provided. It was easy to get in touch with one of the owners. The check in process was simple we just asked them to meet us and they selected a time and came. They also came to fix the TV when it stopped working. The pool was perfect, we did not heat because we only used it in the early morning. The pool was extremely clean. and the grounds around the pool were meticulous. The location was extremely close to downtown Palm Springs (about a 20 minute Drive). It worked out perfectly for the 4 of us. We would highly recommend this mid -century home.
My only suggestion would be a better mattress in the master. I kinda feel like the pool should be heated (and included in the price). There was only 4 of us... which seemed most appropriate for the size of the house!
