Nice secluded ranch home - but ask about the driveway condition

  • 4 of 5

This ranch home is located on the side of a hill with beautiful views on scenic acreage about 10-15 minutes south of Mariposa. It is an older home, but was clean upon our arrival including the hot tub. We spent 2 days exploring Yosemite NP ( about 1 hour away) and our evenings resting up at the ranch. Two items worth mentioning : The pond is an additional 1 mile up the hill on the owners property ( not right next to the ranch), and I would inquire before arrival about the current condition of the 1.4 mile driveway to the ranch. It is not paved, and had significant ruts in places that required a slow careful drive up and down the driveway each day with our two midsize rental cars. SUV's - no problem. 2 nice Harley Davidson bikes - could get interesting.

We (four adults, four kids) spent four nights at the Ranch. The place is just awesome - on top of a hill overlooking the foothills outside Mariposa with heaps of space. The main building is not new, but has loads of character and we loved it! The kids loved the hot tub outside and us adults spent every night watching the amazing sunset while barbecuing our dinner at the fire pit. Several reviews have mentioned this already but the road to the ranch is not very good, so make sure your car can take it.

Great for friend/ family reunions!

  • 5 of 5

We had our family reunion at the ranch a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it! The house is a little older with the "personality" of an older home. It has lots of space indoors and outdoors and is very comfortable and clean. We happened to be there during a major heat wave, but the air cooler kept the house comfortable. There's a large patch of soft, green grass in the back yard under a large tree with lounge chairs and horse shoes. We enjoyed having our breakfasts out there before the heat of the day. Cooling off at the lake was amazing! (By the way, we were able to drive to the lake.) I strongly recommend bringing inflatable inner tubes to lounge on the water.

A couple of notes for potential visitors... Try to arrive in the daylight. The dirt road to the house is rough and would be challenging to navigate after dark, and it might be hard to find the house, too. There's a gas station where you turn off the highway to go to the ranch, and it looked like it had the best gas prices in the area. It also has a convenience store where you can pick up things like milk, ice cream, or the forgotten toothbrush.

I definitely recommend this location and would love to come back again. Thanks, Judy, for a wonderful week!

Authentic Ranch house experience

  • 4 of 5

Loved our stay. Beds were super comfy and sheets. The property is on 100 acres and is so remote and quiet and lovely. The drive up is a 1 mile dirt road that is quite a ride, rent a car that can handle it. We saw lots of wild life just on that road alone each night! Firepit area is perfect and rustic and cool log benches. Hot tub was so relaxing at night and in morning. Loved all the games and records and fully stocked kitchen ( with cooking utensils) including dishwasher det. and laundry det. which most house rentals don't include. Beautiful stars at night and peace and quiet. Spacious bedrooms and 3 showers, helped 5 people get ready quickly. Loved having the washer and dryer! Only suggestions are better quality towels, and bedroom off kitchen needs shades. Early sun woke my daughter up each day with only sheers on. Would also love to see some flower pots on the property, as much of the planters were empty or had dry old plants in them. Its about 45 minutes to 1 hour from the park entrances, so a little drive. But we wanted the space and experience of a house, so worth it. Thank you , enjoyed our stay!
