We're the Fergusons. We have 5 kids from elementary to college, and we love spending time at Waverly Lodge. When we're not there, we enjoy sharing it with others. C'mon up the mountain for a visit.
Matt Ferguson purchased this cabin in 2009
Four generations of my family spent a three day Christmas get together at Waverley Lodge. There's lots to enjoy for every age group. Immaculately kept, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Very convenienet to Catalooche Ski Resort and downtown shops. Owners were very nice and were available to us if we had any questions. Wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
The cabin was perfect. Just as described. Plenty of space for our party of 9, could have easily accommodated more. The owner was easy to reach with questions while we were there, and wonderful to communicate with before the trip.
We have only been home 2 days and we already miss the cabin! It was cozy and warm! We could relax on the deck and enjoy the stunning views of the mountains on all sides of us. It was close enough to everything we wanted to do. There were lots of activities at the cabin to keep everyone entertained. It was amazing! We will definitely go back!
Waverly Lodge was a great retreat......a beautiful home ! We enjoyed our visit so much. The home is very spacious and beautifully decorated. Our two grandsons, age 10 and 14 immediately staked out the loft which has built-in bunks like train berths with curtains that enclose the bunks. They brought their play station to hook up to the TV......and the loft was their special space. They loved the pool table and game room complete with basketball, fooz ball, and air hockey. Master suite and gorgeous kitchen made grandparents very happy. We discovered Cataloochee Ranch at the top of Fie Top Road.....enjoyed dinner one night and two lunches. Horse back riding was booked solid....so book ahead. Everyone went white water rafting on our son's birthday, and we had dinner at J Arthur's complete with signage out front announcing the birthday. The elk in Cataloochee Valley were spectacular....arrived at 5 pm and viewed 14 total.......crossing the road in front of us ! Drove to Tapoco Lodge for lunch, and then did the "Tail of the Dragon"..... 11 mile curvy road.....loved by bikers ! Also did Blue Ridge Parkway, Waynesville, Hendersonville, and Flat Rock ! Love Western North Carolina, and highly recommend the Waverly Lodge !!! So nice to come home at the end of your day to a retreat !
Our one week stay at waverly was awesome. Everyone truly had a great time. The home was amply stocked with the supplies needed, all we had to do was bring the food. The surrounding views were great to look at, especially in the morning on the deck with coffee or juice.
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home.
Was everything as advertised! A perfect location for exploring the National Park and the surrounding area. We were also able to take evening trips into Asheville with no problem. There was plenty of space for our party of 9 adults and 4 small children. Lots of little details made this rental feel quite homey.
Early breakfast at Joey's and BBQ from Haywood Smokehouse in Waynesville were some of the food highlights.
We had two different power outages that lasted about 4 to 5 hours. The second outage extended into the early nighttime hours and the house could probably benefit from having some more candles/flashlights, or other outage preparedness materials. It was actually a pretty cozy experience but may have gotten a little freakier for the kids if it would have been any darker or if our small tea light candles would have run out.
Fully enjoyed the stay and would recommend to other friends and families.
We had a fabulous stay at Waverly Lodge. We chose this home because of its beauty & cleanliness as well as the great proximity for Asheville area activities and Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area activities. The kitchen, dining, and family room area are fabulous and that is where most of our time was spent. The master bedroom on the main floor was perfect. The layout downstairs with a family room area, pool table and game room were great! The master down stairs is a little tight for 2 adults, but it worked fine. Communication with Matt was great and we will definitely book this beautiful cabin again in the future!
Maggie Valley is the closest town to the wild elk viewing in the Cataloochee Valley section of the Great Smokies National Park.
