Just a short walk to the beach - we've supplied a beach cart, chairs, boogie boards & sand toys. At Monteray Shores Clubhouse enjoy the pool, playground, tennis courts, bike & kayak rental, sound fishing/crabbing off the pier, fitness center & kids' activities. We're just steps away from some of the Outer Banks' finest shops & restaurants. You'll love it here!

Added Bonus: We offer Early Arrival at no additional cost! This is unusual for the northern beaches, where almost every other home has a 4pm check-in. There is one main road in and out of the area -- as it gets closer to that 4pm arrival, all that traffic can really back up. Our earlier check-in allows you to beat most of the traffic crossing onto the island and up the coast.

Updates: We've owned this home since 2008 and every year we make repairs, upgrades and additions to what we offer. A few major changes recently include: in 2014 we had the entire exterior of the house painted, added flat-screen tv's in the living area and master bedrooms, and upgraded the entry with "wood" tile flooring. In 2015, we replaced all carpeting throughout the house, added a new washer & dryer and replaced the upper floor HVAC unit. For 2016, our winter guests will be the first to use a brand new hot tub on the upper deck!

Why Beth chose Outer Banks

We love Corolla and have vacationed in this area since 1996. Corolla beaches offer a quiet beauty that we have not seen in many other places. The beach is small, but so is the community, so it never seems too crowded & you’re always near the water.

The Monteray Shores community has so much to offer and our guests receive complimentary access to the Clubhouse Fitness Center, large pool plus kiddie pool, sound-front Sunset Pier, tennis courts, terrific playgrounds and more.

We really feel that our house is perfectly located. Only a short, 8-10 min walk to the beach and since we are on a higher elevation than homes closer to the water, we have wonderful ocean views. Being at the southern end of Monteray Shores, we are super close to many shops & amazing restaurants. Teens also appreciate being able to walk on their own to Dairy Queen or mini-golf.

What makes this house unique

Our home has a rock & roll history! It was formerly owned by Dave Grohl - yes, THAT Dave Grohl - and even though we've never met him : ( we like to wonder who may have visited here over the years!

Great time

Had a great trip. Never been to Corolla this time of the year but will be back to stay at this beautiful home. Very clean, lots of room for everyone. Great location to eating. Few blocks to the beautiful beaches. Love the outside grilling area and picnic table. 5 mins to the 4x4 area to see the wild horses. We rented a jeep and spent lots of time out driving on the beaches. Did some cooking inside the large kitchen, which had everything we needed to cook. We will be back, thanks for great memories.

We just returned home from spending a week here. Another couple joined us there. We all loved the house, clean, spacious, bright and cheery. It is conveniently located, with fast and easy access to the beach, clubhouse, restaurants and shopping. The bedrooms were roomy, the beds very comfortable. We really enjoyed the hot tub, and relaxing on the deck. We used all of the appliances without any problem ,just can't imagine what a previous reviewer is talking about. We recommend this lovely home without any reservation!

Wonderful Beach Home, Fantastic Owners

We just returned from an amazing week at Swept Away in Corolla, NC. The house was tastefully decorated, very clean, and well-stocked. The layout was open and spacious so that we never felt cramped, even with 5 kids underfoot. It was centrally located to both the beach, shopping, and the clubhouse. And unlike the previous reviewer, we had absolutely no trouble with any of the appliances. Most importantly, the owners were extremely helpful and generous. It was a pleasure to rent from them and I would highly recommend this beach house.

Good Stay, Could Have Bern

This is a nice house with a lovely interior. I loved that there was seating for 8 at the dining room table, plentiful 3.5 bathrooms, comfy seating in the living room, lots of bright natural lighting, and a hot tub conveniently located on the main living level. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and eating in. And the house was just a few blocks' walk from the beach, Food Lion, and restaurants. (Be sure to visit Timbuck II!)

The negatives are relatively small things. This is my first rental property that didn't provide basic necessities (toilet paper, bar soap) -- so don't show up desperate to use the restroom! The fridge door almost never shut completely. They sent instructions for how to properly load your food items -- but what they really need is a properly functioning fridge. It simply must be fixed or replaced. Also, I believe if you "sell" things as part of your offering, they should be in good shape ... that means toss out those nasty, rusty beach chairs and those games with missing pieces. Lastly, the washing machine didn't fill propertly. You can choose "super plus" size load all you want ... it's still going to fill only partially. I had to give everything an extra rinse to ensure the soap came out. The washer also must be fixed or replaced.

Overall it was a good places to stay. Fixing these little things would have made it a great place to stay.

Note: Be prepared for walking up and down a lot of stairs. This is usually fine but tiring and sweaty when bringing suitcases and groceries in.

Owner's Response: My Husband and I just recently purchased Swept Away. It is our first and only rental property so any and all comments or suggestions are welcome. The house was already booked for 2016 by the previous owner so we have had very little time in the house. We have a week booked for ourselves soon so we can get in there and check everything out. A little surprised to hear there is an issue with the fridge and the washer because every major appliance in the house is Brand New! We want every guest to have an exceptional stay!

Great Falls

Super property for OBX getaway

We loved the house. We stayed 3 days over the Christmas break and it was a great getaway. Great location to both Duck and Corolla. Very close walk to the beach. That stretch of beach at the OBX is amazing. Close to a great golf course at the Currituck Club.

The house had a great layout, was in great condition, and was very clean. The kids enjoyed each having their own rooms. Very comfortable living conditions and the hot tub was a plus. We definitely plan to rent this property again.

Beautiful, well-maintained home, awesome location

My family thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay in this house. It had everything we needed plus much more! The location is wonderful too, my toddler and 80+ year-old grandparents were able to comfortably manage walks to both the beach and grocery store. The owners were very easy to work with and provided a lot of helpful information about the area. If you choose to book this home, you will not be disappointed!
