We just wanted a clean, simple place to stay for our trip to Hana, and this little placed filled the bill! A clean fully equipped kitchen with star fruit, a nice bed, and a clean bathroom with shower! An outdoor table to eat at on the front lanai...It was a comfortable place to land, easy to find, and just great for a budget traveler! Thanks for the care!

Affordable with no multi-night minimum stay.

  • 4 of 5

Great little place. Nothing fancy, but very affordable for the area. Nice, big, comfy bed. We had the larger unit with full kitchen--stove, larger (but not full sized) fridge. The fresh bowl of bananas, from the back yard, were a great treat. Very quiet area. The owners were very friendly and helpful with a restaurant suggestion. This place made the Road to Hana much more pleasant by allowing us to make it a two day trip. The biggest plus for this place was the lack of a multiple night minimum stay.

Nice clean place to stay

  • 4 of 5

We wanted to spend the night in Hana so we didn't want to make the full Hana trip in one day. This rental is just before you arrive at Hana on the main road, easy to find. This unit is a detached building behind the owners house, I believe there are three "apartments", we stayed in the furthest. Nice but small kitchen, nice bedroom with a large bath. The unit was very clean. If you plan a Hana trip, consider staying here for the night, it's about half way, restaurants near by. Get up the next day and check out the Hana beaches, and make sure you see Waianapanapa-state-park. I would recommend this rental.

Good ratio price/quality

  • 4 of 5

We did not have great expectations as our idea was just to stay one night in Hana. The unit we rented was slightly more expensive than the price announced here, around $10 but very reasonable price vs average Hana prices.

In fact, it is like a bungalow separated in different units, ours was full equipped, kitchen, king size bed, bathroom, towels (but no Wi Fi). You're in a garden behind the main (owners) house.

It is pretty quiet and if you don't mind about the fact that you can hear your neighbours and the rooster's crow early morning, that's your place!

Beautiful garden and we were well reveived. We did like it!

Great budget option

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here for 2 nights in late September in room #1 (without full kitchen). I recommend this option as an affordable basic rental in Hana.

- Clean

- Fridge and flatware/utensils

- Comfortable, soft bed

- Although no a/c, it cools down at night, and the windows + fan made it comfortable enough.

- Requires cash only and upfront (I think at least paying for only 1 night at a time is reasonable, which is what I did)

- $5 for internet access (total for stay)

- Tiny ants in kitchen area (only after I had some food out). I believe this can be common issue in Maui.

- Saw a couple small frogs and a gecko inside, but they stayed near the window, and this may be common in rural Hana.

- Bathroom sink is older model (separate dials for hot & cold, and minimal room for toiletries). It would be helpful to have an area to put toiletries. There was a small stand in the bathroom closet, but it was dirty and not sure what it was for.

Note: There was no one else staying here while I was there, so I don't know if sound would be issue from neighbors (3 units total sharing the same structure). Also, I didn't use the shower.

Thanks Rolene for providing this affordable rental next door to your home!

Hana Maui Vacation Rental

Our review is essentially the same as the previous one.

We saved about $200+ for one night compared to the hotels rates.

Kamalei answered all of our questions and suggested activities and places to eat.

The town closes early so eat before 4PM or bring your own food.
