My husband and I are recently retired and enjoy an active lifesyle that include racing our sailboat, skiing, hiking, traveling, and beach time. We were born and raised in the Portland area. Went to Franklin and Milwaukie High Schools. This home was built by Paul and his brother when he was in his mid twenties to be very strong to stand up to the coastal storms and it has survived many with no damage.
close to a local airport. Located between Newport and Lincoln City. With a panoramic view up and down the coast for many beautiful sunsets. No traffic going by or noisy people. We are located at the end of a cult de sac overlooking the ocean. We built the home to live full time but plans changed so we decided to let others enjoy it also. We appreciate it being taken care of which makes it possible to keep the cost down.
This property he built on was because of the incredible view
The house was nice and clean. The views were amazing. Sitting and watching the waves was so peaceful. We enjoyed our visit and loved having a base to come back to. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a nice place to stay. I thought the beds were comfortable and there are plenty of places to sleep.
The owners were quick to answer my questions. We would rent this home again.
A comfortable home with just about everything you can imagine needing right there. With 2 of the bedrooms with a queen each and a set of bunkbeds, it was a great fit for the kids and grandkids and grandpa and grandma had the king ensuite all to themselves. We literally watched whales from the livingroom couch for hours at a time! Amazing! The beach is an easy walk down a path that is private for the homeowners in the subdivision and even the almost-3 year old was able to navigate it with a little help. The Thriftway had amazing rotisserie chickens and the coffee shop next door made for a quick java run each day.
This house is in a convenient location between Lincoln City and Depoe Bay, and has great ocean views. The beach access was fine for the younger members of our group, but definitely not for the older ones. However, Fogarty Beach is about half a mile away and is our favorite beach in the area anyway. There's a Thriftway just across 101 which was great for grabbing things like milk and bread. The living room was comfortable for a large group and we were watching whales spout from the windows. We didn't have the greatest weather so didn't use the BBQ or deck, but they would be nice on warmer days. The kitchen had everything we needed for meal preparation. I would recommend this house and would rent it again for another family trip.
Have stayed in many VRBO homes and this one is a keeper. I rarely give a 5 star as I'm pretty picky -- and actually would give this a 4.7. The view is amazing but really, there should be something like a card table in the View Room (Even two). That's where my friends and I wanted to spend all our time but there was no table for playing games or doing puzzles. We made do but it wasn't optimum. All of the rooms were lovely and very, comfortable -- from the comfy beds to the leather furniture. I slept in the Master bedroom - and watched the ocean (and whales!) from my bedroom window. The ladies in the other rooms enjoyed their rooms very much although at least one mouse in the wall between their rooms kept them awake some. The kitchen is the best equipped kitchen I've ever encountered in a VRBO house. The location of the house is in a small cut de sac and was so quiet. The driveway drops down below level with surrounding houses so we felt wonderfully isolated. A great stay, all in all. Two small irritating things (besides the mouse) is the lock box was very sensitive so that we had to push the code several times before it "took". Once we gained entrance, we were supposed to find a house key but the only key in the other lock box was a small key that did not fit the front door lock. That meant every time we returned from being out and about, we had to use that pesky lock box. Also, there was not enough toilet paper. 2-1/2 rolls for 4 women for 4 days? Seriously? We bought toilet paper...
The nightly rate was very attractive for women on fixed incomes. A real deal since the house is really wonderful.
This was our second stay at this house (stayed last summer as well) and won't be our last. This house truly feels like home, but on the ocean! They have pretty much everything you need (well, I did have to stop and get a few serving utensils, and some bigger coffee cups). Wonderful views, no road noise, great location between Lincoln City and Newport. Close enough to stores and outlets, but far enough to be away from the hustle and bustle of regular life. Just kick back in this comfy house and enjoy the views. I still think that it would be much nicer to be able to have a breeze in the bedrooms, and still waiting for the deck to be built on the other side near the master bedroom. That would make it SO much nicer! Love me the sound of the ocean waves! Thanks again Gail and Paul for the nice stay...we'll be back!
P.S...be careful on the trail to the ocean behind the gate to the south of the property...my sister said there was a lot of poison ivy or oak there! (can't remember which she said)
Second time we have stayed here. Good location. Grandsons love the house and the beach. Love just sitting and watching and listening to the ocean. Didn't need all of the beds, but bunk beds are a nice addition for larger family groups. Very clean.
