We really enjoyed our stay at the Sparrow Pond Cottage. We found it to be fully supplied with everthing necessary for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is newly remodeled and fully equipped. We enjoyed the screened in patio and gas grill for cooking out. Pool and beach access were very close too ! We look forward to returning to soon! Also, the manager is very nice and quick to respond to any questions!
This Sparrow Pond cottage was absolutely wonderful!! It had been recently refurbished; the kitchen was beautiful, the living areas and bedrooms were so comfortable, and the screened-in porch was perfect for eating meals and relaxing together. The manager was very helpful (we had a question about internet service on the first day, and she responded immediately). The cottage is very close to the beach, the pool and the Straw Market, and the island itself is so beautiful and well-preserved. We had a great time exploring Kiawah on our bikes, walking and running on the the expansive beaches, and exploring some of the local restaurants (we loved Southern Kitchen, Chez Fish and the Jasmine Porch). We would enthusiastically recommend this property and Kiawah Island for a relaxing family vacation and we hope to return soon!!
We live in upstate New York and visit South Carolina every Spring. Our kids are older now and we decided to go a little later, the first week of June and try a new destination in SC which took us to Kiawah Island. I had never used VRBO in the past, I started looking for places and the same realtor came up over several places. I sent her a lot of emails, she responded to every one even at 11pm at night. While I loved the places I found, we needed something a little bigger and Susie Oringel was awesome in finding the perfect place. I would go thru Susie again in a minute. Kiawah Island was beautiful, our place and the weather were beautiful. I also highly recommend the bike rental. Awesome vacation.,,,,
We were pleasantly surprised with this lovely property. You can tell it has been recently updated. The kitchen was immaculate and well-stocked with any utensil, pot or pan we could possibly have needed. Each of the two bathrooms was spotless and very hotel-like in it's provisions. The size was perfect for my husband and I, our fifteen-year-old daughter and her friend who accompanied us. Each girl had her own room which was a plus for us.
Susie, the property manager was great and couldn't have been nicer. The cottage has a binder with plenty of useful information about Kiawah, local shopping, and local attractions. We referred to it often. Susie emailed several times during our stay to make sure everything was going well and I certainly appreciated her attentiveness. The cottage is obviously well-maintained.
My ONLY complaints--and they are few--is that the master bedroom has very little walking space with it's king size bed. However a king size bed is a "must have" for us, so I prefer the larger bed to the extra space. The sliding patio doors do not work very well (they are probably original to the cottage). And even though the space was fine for the four of us, I think it would be too small for a larger, more boisterous family. I believe the square footage is around 1200 square feet, but most of the cottages in this part of Kiawah are around that same size.
As for Kiawah, it is quiet and well-maintained. We enjoyed being in the West Beach Village area since it is do close to Fresh Fields with it's excellent shopping. The grocery store there reminds me of a small Whole Foods. There are several retail stores and restaurants. We did not feel like we needed to leave the island for anything we needed. It was a very restful vacation.
I would highly recommend that you rent bikes while you're here. The two fifteen-year-olds both agreed that bike riding was one of their favorites parts of the trip.
I would definitely recommend this property.
This was our first trip to Kiawah Island and it couldn't have been more perfect! The cottage is very comfortable. I was 4 months post op knee replacement and the stairs are easy to climb. Once inside, the cottage has everything needed to set up housekeeping. Harris Teeter's delivery was awesome, the Southern Kitchen a great place for breakfast/lunch. Beach is beautiful and the shoreline unspoiled by vendors usually seen at other SC beaches. Only complaint, pool bathroom closest to beach and still a walk if you've really, really gotta go! Need public restrooms closer to beach access.
This was our first visit to Kiawah Island, and it was perfect! My husband and I have 3 small children, ages 5 years, 3 years, and 21 months. We rented bikes with Burley trailer and childseat, so we were able to ride everywhere on the island with the kids. We went to the beach daily, and the water was warm and shallow enough for the kids to have plenty of playtime. The cottage is perfect for families. Everything was included: dishes, linens, laundry detergent, and even games for the kids! We are definitely coming back soon!!!
