Enjoy beautiful sunsets with views of the foothills and 60+ mature Ponderosas! This three bedroom two full bath home sleeps up to EIGHT ADULTS: Tempurpedic King in master, Queen in 2nd bedroom; Queen pull out leather sofa in living room and a full+twin bunk (100 lb max top bunk) in 3rd bedroom. We have a window A/C in master Bedroom plus a NEW 10,000 BTU portable unit that sits in the main living area (Kitchen/ Dining & Living Room). Home has stereo system, wireless fiber optic high-speed internet, 2 flat screen CABLE TVs, Blue Ray/Wii console+2 Wii remotes and a GAS GRILL/BBQ. Park out of the elements in the heated garage (2 additional cars can fit on the long driveway). The outside features vacant lots on both sides.

About Jim White

Jim, a Santa Fe, NM native hiked the Weminuche wilderness as a kid. His spouse fell in love with Pagosa upon the first visit decades ago. Paradise in the Pines is our dream-get-away from the hustle/bustle of city life: where our kids watch Humming-birds/deer/fox/coyottes and the occasional bear. It's where they do great fishing (20+ fish at one sitting!?) not far from the house. In essence, a place where wonderful memories are made to last a lifetime..............

Why Jim White chose Southwestern Colorado

We love the outdoors and Pagosa Springs has incredible year-round adventure opportunities. Peace and quiet are interrupted by the wind chimes hanging off the Ponderosas. Humming birds/deer/fox visit often (we provide a salt-lick by the rock garden) and the solitude/fence make it their own. Our kids find fossilized rocks on the many boulders in the yard!

Plentiful powder and "first to open Colorado ski resort" at Wolf Creek, feisty trout in the spring-fall, hiking among one of the largest US Wilderness, some of Colorado's most beautiful fall colors, water falls and mountain scenery. Notes:
With the adjacent vacant lot, the entire property is fenced in for added privacy . Since this home is equipped with an expensive radiant heating system for the winter, central air is not an option, however we provide A/C in master bedroom and a portable swamp cooler (located in master bedroom closet: just fill w/ water and turn on) to cool down the upstairs (there are ceiling fans in most rooms). The home cools down quickly via cross ventilation/A/C + swamp cooler during the hottest days of July.

Amazing home, full of hospitality!

We were so excited to be back in Pagosa Springs! This house provided the best "base camp" we ever had for a vacation! The teens were downstairs with the two bedrooms (queen and double bunk) and their own bathroom and a door to the fenced-in yard(look close at the pic- it has chicken wire-the dog stays in!). This lower landing has the washer/dryer and a door to the garage (Jim has set up a place for ski equipment/hiking boots etc). Upstairs is beautiful. The master is just off the kitchen area. The spa tub was heaven after hiking Four-mile Falls and white water rafting on the West Fork River. The stairs are many, but they kept us moving. The hot springs(beware-towels(yours-Walmart?or rent at spa-not Jim's) and swim suit will sulfur stink), great restaurants and stores, mini-golf, hiking trails, etc all close by. We drove to snow in June at the Continental Divide! And when we got up there, found more crazy Texans. We were moving big logs so we might have been the first group of the season to get that high, which was not quite all the way to the look-out. Hot- Air balloon, stars, and wildlife observed just enjoying the decks at Pagosa in the Pines.

Mr. White has notes all around allowing us to try our best take good care of everything, as the place has our hearts. Thanks for hosting our family on a perfect vacation in our happy place. The Richardsons

Nice house with plenty of room but no AC in master bedroom.

We enjoyed our stay at the property and it had everything needed including a gas grill. The only down side was the fact that there was no air conditioner despite what is listed in the accommodation section of the listing. Staying during the summer months might be tough to do again without the AC, the master reached 84 degrees the last night we were there. Other than that it was a nice stay.

Owner's Response: Hello David, our apologies: Beginning of May we were informed that the A/C install was scheduled, however, we only found out that it was still sitting on the table in the garage when the guests who arrived the day you left, phoned us to inform the house could not be cooled. A second, new portable A/C unit has been purchased/installed. Our contractor has been advised that the A/C needs to be installed by May 31-no exceptions. We totally agree that A/C is necessary with the heat waves hitting CO, as early as mid June. Our apologies for the inconvenience since we strive to provide an exceptional experience at Paradise in the Pines. Regards Jim W

Beautiful, comfortable home.

The house was perfect and left us wanting for nothing! Loved watching the deer everyday as they hopped the fence into the backyard. Such a peaceful setting. The location is convenient to town and also to a day trip to Durango or Ouray! Would definitely stay again.

Great Value and Great Location!

My family stayed here for a week and other than a few sore knees (both people and dogs) from all of the stairs, we found the home clean, well stocked and very comfortable. Our pups enjoyed the fenced back yard as much as we did. The daily visits from the deer and even a fox that made an appearance on our first day reminded us why we love coming to Pagosa Springs. Great location with easy access to all of the play spots in the Pagosa Springs area. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a GREAT stay!

We love the radiant floors, we never turned the heat on. We most appreciated the king bed (memory foam), never slept so sound in all our lives. The back yard is one in a million. Harley, our German Shepherd just had a great time back there. It's too bad that this house was so close to the 3 different streets...made it extremely noisy. It was not private enough with the houses right in your back yard. Needs an upstairs deck in the back with the BQ pit for more privacy for the 3rd floor and entertainment area. It would have been perfect if there was more decking upstairs. You are correct! This house really had the stairs...with the high altitude made them more difficult!! But we did enjoy the warm and beautiful home.

Owner's Response: OWNERS' CORRECTIONS: Home has TWO covered decks on the top floor (front of home w/ 5 chairs+2 tables and back of home, just off kitchen w/ a gas BBQ/3 chairs +table)-it also has 2 additional covered/furnished decks on the bottom floor for guests to enjoy. All four covered decks are private/furnished and home is surrounded on both sides by vacant lots (4 lots on one side). Home sits on 3 separate lots to ensure guest privacy. House has but TWO floors with two separate staircases (~24 steps internal and external). Master bedroom has a 6K TEMPURPEDIC king bed-not the cheaper memory foam reported by guest. Home sits on 0.8 acre fenced yard and is quiet/private, every time we've been lucky enough to visit and see the many daily wild visitors, year-round. We caution clearly (see description) that home has two stairways to access the second (living) floor and is NOT appropriate for those who cannot navigate stairs with ease.
