About The Owner

I am retired from Emory University but still keep busy with a second career involving consulting and volunteer work. We like to travel especially to Italy where we have a son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren. We also have 6 grandchildren in the states who like to visit the lake.

The Owner purchased this house in 1980

Why The Owner chose North Georgia Mountains

I discovered this lake in 1975 and was impressed with the clear water, pristine setting, isolation (at that time) and views of the mountains.

What makes this house unique

This is our respite from the city. We swim, hike, read and occasionally venture out to galleries/shopping. We also entertain family and friends for long weekends. Our children and grandchildren love to come and fish, swim, boat and hike.

Outstanding Views and Boathouse

  • 5 of 5

We travel to the northeast Georgia region yearly, and this was our favorite rental to-date. The views are what you are paying for, and they don't get any better than here! We really enjoyed the boathouse and swimming in the water - Lake Burton is so clean and refreshing. While there we also went to the Dahlonega Wine Trail as well as Yonah Mountain and Stonewall Creek wineries. Our only regret was that we didn't rent a boat for our stay. Lake Burton is beautiful, and this house is situated beautifully on the Lake so you can enjoy the views from the house and the boathouse. We hope to be back next year.

Fabulous honeymoon!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and it was wonderful. We arrived at night so we could not see much of the property, however upon waking up in the upstairs Master, we just sat up in the bed and the view of the water was stunning. This home is surrounded by beautiful mountains, trees, plants and peaceful serenity. The rustic interior is relaxing, cozy and it was very clean. It has multiple decks for relaxing, sitting outside and grilling. You can fish, swim, canoe, kayak and sunbathe! I cannot say enough positive things about this lake front property, go and experience it for yourself! We loved it!!

You won't be disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at night and we were unable to see the property clearly on the outside. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and wanted a great experience. After getting settled, we found the inside to very clean, with fresh linen and a decor that my wife loved; a rustic and modern balance of furniture and decor. We stayed in the master bedroom. Lots of room for sleepers for sure. Upon arising, we were greeted with a view of the lake that was brought in by the glow of the morning sun. We sat up in bed and both said out loud, "WOW"! It was a beautiful sight to wake up to. We quickly inspected the entire house and the exterior. We were very pleased and enjoyed our stay immensely. Fishing off the boat dock and the diving platform was a daily routine. Fishing gear was available, the scene was breathing taking, the weather was perfect, and our honeymoon was memorable. The owner is gracious and more than willing to remedy in concerns that may come up. We had none!

The perfect summer rental

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed at this Lake Burton property many times and in many different weather conditions and it's always better than wonderful. The different decks provide spectacular views of the lake and plenty of space to entertain. I love the intimacy of the beach (very private feeling) and the plantings around the area. It was very safe, clean and accessible for the younger children, too. The home itself is spacious and designed perfectly for entertaining or relaxing quietly.

This Lake Burton home is surrounded by so much beauty: water, mountains, trees. No pretentiousness and a whole lot of comforting peace. This is my idea of a perfect summer rental.
