About Jarek Mika

We are family owned and operated. From the left meet Kate, Jarek (sister and brother) and our mom Dana.

We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.

We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.

We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.

Why Jarek Mika chose Washington DC

With metro, grocery store, restaurants, Target, Tivoli Theater, Starbucks and many restaurants, we love the convenience of our unit. There is no need for a car when staying with us and we hope you enjoy our location as much as we enjoy living here.

Great location, gorgeous home!

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly our stay in Columbia Heights. The townhouse was amazing. Clean, bright, quiet and welcoming. A great place to unwind after a day out and about. A great combination of Victorian beauty coupled with modern comforts. We had no problems parking on the road with a permit. Definitely take time after dark to relax on the balcony in back. It's even better during a thunderstorm! The neighborhood is safe and conveniently located within walking distance to the Metro, restaurants, groceries and a very nice wine shop. Had no problems hailing a cab the one day we needed it. Definitely recommend a patio dinner at the Heights. If we are ever back in DC, this will definitely be our home base again. Cannot recommend this home more highly!

Amazing property, very good location

  • 5 of 5

Property: 5 stars

The property is lovely. Modern, well maintained, with everything you need. Very comfortable. Really appreciated the welcome package and a stocked pantry with many of the basics already covered. It is as nice and welcoming as the property pictures convey.

Location: 4 stars

You are about a block and a half to the Metro which is really helpful. Some nice fast casual and ethnic restaurants nearby. Didn't feel unsafe. But Columbia Heights still on the rise. When it hits "Dupont Circle-like" shops/restaurants five stars for sure.

Great Place to Stay While Visiting DC

  • 5 of 5

We loved this property as it had everything we needed. All of the rooms were clean and inviting. The kitchen was very well stocked with the essential tools. It was an easy walk to the Metro to get to the DC area and there are plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood within walking distance. We parked our car on the street for three days and never once had to use it. We felt safe walking around in the neighborhood. The owners were exceptionally helpful in making our stay a wonderful experience and made themselves readily and quickly available for any questions or concerns. There are a lot of stairs both from the outside as well as the inside which is typical for this style of housing and neighborhood (this is mentioned in the listing description). We would highly recommend this property and would definitely book again.

Good location for DC

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed for a week in this condo for our nieces wedding. We had 6 adults, a toddler and a 6 month old with us. Warning: There are lots of stairs! Two of the bedrooms are very roomy and the third, while small has very high ceilings and is fine. There are three bathrooms upstairs with the bedrooms and one 1/2 bath downstairs. We did not cook except for breakfast, and pizza one night, but the kitchen is well appointed with nice appliances. The sofa in the main room could use a cleaning. The gathering space there is very nice with good lighting for reading and visiting. The neighborhood is great! The Metro stop is 2 blocks away. There are great restaurants on 11th street- 2 blocks the other way. A Target and a Giant Grocery are 1 and 2 blocks away. We even found a small park for my grandson on 11th. Safe walking in a family area.

Excellent property, well appointed

  • 5 of 5

This property was very nice, exceeding my expectations. The bedrooms were lovely and comfortable. It was immaculately clean (we are picky) and roomy, allowing our family group (3 generations) to spread out when needed.

The apartment is well kept, practical, stylish, and furnished thoughtfully. In fact, all the little things you need, and usually have to buy once you arrive when staying in a vacation home, were already there, generously left behind by former guests or provided by the owner..laundry soap pods, sugar, couple types of coffee, every possible needed seasoning...the pantry and kitchen was very well stocked, the best I've experienced in a vacation rental property. There was high end shampoo and body wash in our bathroom that I liked so much I bought the same when I got home

Very easy to get around and lots nearby to explore. I loved that the owner had wheeled grocery carts available for the easy walk to Giant or Target. Also appreciated the guidance left in the living area about the neighborhood and how to find everything nearby.

Well chosen spot and I would definitely stay here again!!!

Comforts of home close to Metro

  • 5 of 5

Loved our week-long stay at this chic Brownstone vacation rental. The spacious two upper floors were great to come home to each day after our long fun days of touring DC. Only 2.5 short blocks from the Columbia Heights Metro. It was convenient to not need a rental car and also to grab dinner close by. Shopped for a few breakfast groceries at the nearby Giant and also stopped into Target for a few needs during our stay. Really nice neighborhood. Plenty of beds and bathrooms for 4 people all very clean and comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen for anyone desiring to make a meal there. Also took advantage of the wifi, and all the great DC tourist pamphlets and printouts of recommendations. Would definitely stay here again on a return visit.
