Everything was in order and the cove was nice. Enjoyed the canoe and dock. Owner was great to work with.
We truly enjoyed our time at this house! The separate living areas were perfect for 2 families! We spent most of our time on the dock and had a blast swimming, fishing, floating around, canoeing, and paddle boarding. Rick was super helpful and qucik to respond with any questions and inquiries I had. He was a pleasure to book through.
My wife and I (grandpa and grandma) spent a week with our two children and their families - 4 grandchildren aged 11 - 19 - ten people in all in Rick Crofford's house on Smith Mountain Lake; their property sits almost at the end of a finger of water off the main lake and, thus, we had no boats or jetski's flying by or making noise. We were able to rent a pontoon boat at a close marina for three days which was perfect, and everyday we could lollygag on and around the dock in the fresh, cool lake water during the 90 degree days. The house was very comfortable and felt just the right amount of home-i-ness so that we could relax and not worry about messing up something. The upstairs was separated from the downstairs by out-doors entrances but this was not a problem. The Only detractor I can think of was that the house sits up a fairly long grade from the water level and this was not a problem for any of us, but an older person or a wheelchair/disabled person would have prohibitive difficulty with this. Otherwise everything worked, especially the air-conditioning(!!), there was plenty of hot water for showers and we just had a great week. Highly recommended...
Very nice home with good kitchen and lots of dishes and good variety of pots, pans and utensils for cooking. Lovely deck that overlooks the back yard down to the water. View is of the creek. Nice little screened in porch upstairs with ceiling fan where we enjoyed lots of quiet time reading. The house has 4 large flat screen tv's. We really enjoyed the separate upstairs and downstairs with young adults staying downstairs. Upstairs has a couple of strategically placed hand hold bars for senior citizens to assist in stability. The gravel path down to the dock was a little rough for 86 year old parent, but she was able to get down twice. The dock is uncovered and a little hot in the afternoon. We brought a canopy to put on the dock which helped enormously. Lots of great parking. Nice neighborhood with runners, dog walkers and walking families. Very nice homeowner who checked in with us to ensure everything was going well. Wonderful vacation experience!
We had a great week at SML! Having 6 adults and 3 children, it was nice to be on two levels of the house. The kids and adults enjoyed the great selection of games provided when we got our daily rain !
Having our own pontoon boat, it was very easy to use the community boat launch close by.
No one wanted to come home!
This property is all it claims to be. It is quiet and secluded, with access to good swimming and boating, a two story house that provides enough space for our multi-generational family ranging from age 3-80.
Our home is in a quiet, exclusive neighborhood on a quiet cove with excellent swimming and fishing off our dock. There is a boat launch for your boat right next door. Smith Mountain Lake is known for its spectacular mountain views, great fishing, clean, deep water, and growing boutiques near the bridge. This is a perfect spot for a family vacation on a lake with boating, antiquing, fishing, swimming, wine tasting, historical landmark touring, mini-golfing, hiking, and biking.
