Mount Hood Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Hot tub, Record Player, Close to River (Sleeps 2)

The 'Bon Fir Cabin' is a beautifully restored 1930's cabin located in the foothills of Mount Hood. It is just 43 Miles from the Portland airport, less than a mile from the Mount Hood Wilderness Area, and a three minute walk from the Zig Zag River. The original native fir floors, cedar siding and vaulted ceiling throughout help it retain it's historic charm. The cabin is fully equipped with a modernized kitchen, cozy wood stove, a queen bed, and a four person hot tub. The Bon Fir sits on a large wooded lot with plenty of room to relax.

The cabin has only one bedroom with a queen bed. The bathroom has a full-size front loading washer and dryer, and an antique clawfoot tub with a shower. The four person jetted hot tub is built into the deck to soak your bones after a long day of fun.

About Martin

I was born in Oregon and I like all kinds of outdoor activities. I hike, bike, surf, run, rock climb, ski, fish, raft, and camp. I write and play music. Nothing is better than great friends, great beer, and great food. I live in Portland, Oregon. Other than managing cabins, I work full time as an electrical engineer at Intel designing the worlds most advanced computer chips. I'm involved in several community gardens in NE Portland.

Martin purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Martin chose Mount Hood

I bought this cabin because I wanted a place close to Mount Hood and I love the outdoors. As soon as I walked inside I fell in love. The dark wood paneling and the vaulted cedar ceilings give the cabin a beautiful historic feel. The deck is huge and the hot tub is a great bonus.

What makes this cabin unique

I like to get a fire blazing in the wood stove and play games with friends. The tall trees and large lot give a sense of space that contrasts with my otherwise urban life. I like to play old records on the record player.

Great quiet cabin for the value...perfect for a couple

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Martin's cabin. It has a very homey atmosphere. We didn't use the wood burning stove...only needing to use the wall heater once...and briefly at that. The hot tub on the deck was a real bonus after the long hikes we took during the day. We took advantage of the record player...it was quite a kick listening to the old albums. We did cook 4 out of the 5 nights we stayed there. I brought my own cast iron skillet and a couple of bowls with lids. That is the only thing lacking a bit. A nice salad bowl with a lid...and a few more storage bowls for leftovers. We would highly recommend this cabin...a great value.

Absolutely Amazing

  • 5 of 5

This is without a doubt the nicest place I have stayed in the 15 years I've been going to Oregon. Everything is exactly as described in the description only better. I wish I had found this cabin sooner. The pictures don't do it justice. Thank you, will be definitely coming back.

Well-appointed and thoughtfully maintained cabin with great access to Mt. Hood activities

  • 5 of 5

We were so glad we booked this property - it had everything we needed after a long day of whitewater rafting and a hike to sit down, relax and make ourselves a meal. The kitchen is particularly clean and well stocked although you'll want to check before you make anything as there are more pots and pans, etc. than pantry items. The hot tub is also a highlight and is also well-maintained. Very comfortable bed, small but workable TV & DVD player, Wi-Fi -- basically everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. FYI that some toiletries were provided but as described in the posting, you should bring what you need as well.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Bon Fir Cabin was amazing! It was so peaceful and quiet at night, and not to mention it gets so dark in the woods, that I don't think I have slept that great in a long time. We enjoyed sitting around by the fire and listening to great music on the record player! It was so cozy inside and had such a cool mountain vibe. We watched movies, played board games, and drank wine till the early hours of the morning. We had such a great time watching movies and cooking food together. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. The restaurants that Martin recommended were both really good as well. We drove up to Government Camp and rented snowshoes and hiked around Trillium Lake and then did the Barlow Trail hike on Sunday. We have already recommended this cabin to our friends and relatives and we look forward to coming back soon. Time to start planning our return trip!
