Honu Hale Kai is a warm and elegant home base for your family vacation adventure. This home sits upon an oceanfront property (one house back) with a white sand swimming beach only 80 steps away. Ocean views can be seen from this home. This vacation home is two stories. The upstairs level is the main living room with its own fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, disposal and washer & dryer. The master bedroom offers a teak wood queen size poster bed with a Tempur-pedic® mattress. Enjoy your own private spa tub and separate walk-in shower. A small covered lanai is a welcome area for those who want to enjoy their first cup of coffee or read a good book before others awake. Downstairs is great for a second and/or extended family joining you, or for the kids. One bedroom has a queen size bed and the other has two standard single beds. This level has its own living room with a TV.

Enjoy kayaking, swimming, surfing, diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, kite surfing, and fishing. For those less active, take a long walk along the beautiful scenic Oceanside walkway along Kauai's eastern coconut coast. The paved walkway is a way for wheelchair assisted visitors to enjoy the scenery and for those with babies, it is a perfect stroll to soothe any child. We suggest early morning walks to capture the awesome sunrises that the coconut coast is known for. Be sure to take along your camera to capture the moment.

The majority of the walking path is paved for a smooth ride. For those more adventurous, an extended pathway continues along an old abandoned cane-hauling road, all along the ocean's edge.

This home is located within Kauai's historical walking town of Kapaa. Our guests can walk to fine dining as well as casual restaurants. Visit quaint curio shops, island art galleries, local handcrafters, and merchants.

Also, one will find fine jewelers and popular espresso bars with internet access. This town boasts of more than 15 different eateries that you can walk to and enjoy a variety of menus, for those who don't want to cook.

For those who like to dine at home, a complete kitchen package is available with service for 8 guests.

The town of Kapaa is centrally located on the coconut coast (east side) of the island, only 20 minutes from Lihue Airport. It is a beautiful 30 minute drive to majestic Hanalei Bay on the north shore and yet only 45 minutes to popular Poipu Beach on the south shore.

View Opaekaa Falls or take a boat ride up the Wailua River to the famous Fern Grotto. Water skiing, kayaking and canoe paddling are popular visitor activities and another way to enjoy the only navigable river in the state of Hawaii. It is only a short eight minute drive from your vacation home.

For the children, enjoy the local favorite, Lydgate Park where the keiki's will enjoy a labyrinth of slides, ladders, walking decks and fun activities for every age. This is known as Kamalani Bridge, built and created by the local community of Kauai for all children to enjoy.

Lydgate also features a baby pond and an adult safe swimming area circled by a reef structure to protect those who fear swimming in the open ocean. Lots of white sand beaches, picnic areas and restroom facilities are located throughout Lydgate Park.

Kapaa Town also has a small public skateboard park located within a baseball/basketball/tennis facility only a short walk away.

Bicycle rentals are available in town as well as surfboard, boogie board and kayak rentals. Scenic horseback riding is located only a short distance from home.

Aloha! I am Linda Summers, owner of the Honu Hale Kai Vacation Rental Home. My husband, Tom and I are originally from Orange County, California. We have been married for over 50 years, have two grown sons & 3 grandchildren. We have been residents of Kauai for over 46 years. We own and operate Summers Realty here in Kapaa and work together as a dynamic team in Real Estate.

Walk the town during it's "First Saturday" of the month when all the crafters, food vendors and musicians fill the streets with fun and excitement. Walk the oceanside pathway to experience early morning sunrises or evening moon rises as it glimmers on the ocean's horizon. Located near Kapaa's community Oceanside Park where events and celebrations are scheduled throughout the year. Central to all parts of Kauai, this is a convenient location for your stay.

What makes this house unique

Our guests are a few steps away from a calm sandy bottom swimming beach on this ocean front property with a view from the lanai of the ocean and walking path. Enjoy the outdoor hot/cold shower after a long day at the beach. Cross over to get an ice cold Shave Ice or enjoy a variety of casual food offerings to satisfy the appetite. A casual BBQ with picnic table contributes to the casual ambiance of this lovely location. Catch a charter with a local fishing Captain at the nearby boat launch or rent bicycles a few steps away or rent snorkel gear, surfboards at nearby outlets. Notes:
This home is family oriented with the master suite upstairs with formal living room , master bath and fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, disposal and stackable washer and dryer. Downstairs has its own separate living room and bathroom with TV, CD and DVD Player and radio. This floor plan works beautifully for the extended family or when the parents want the quiet upstairs and the kids can have their own comforts downstairs. Ground floor is wheelchair accessible. Easy beach access from guest cottage. Great walking path suitable for wheelchairs, baby strollers, bicycling and wonderful, long majestic walks.

Definitely a Home Away from Home

This house is fully equipped with everything you need from the beach to the mountains. Our family of 5 was so comfortable in the home and in the surrounding neighborhood. It was a great location and we felt like we were "living" in the real Hawaii. Would definitely recommend this home and location for those who just want to relax and enjoy all that Kauai has to offer.

Spoiled!

My family and I felt so spoiled at this house. We loved staying the week there. With 2 teenagers, we were able to all spread out and yet be together too. It was great to have 2 bathrooms to get ready quicker. Convenient to go both north and south on the island. Loved the balcony where we could sit and eat together while enjoying the ocean breezes. This house has everything you need. The owners are so kind. We would go back in a minute.

Beautiful home, right on the beach

Tom and Linda were wonderfull hosts and helped make my best friendswedding so special. They went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel at home. They were very good at communicating before our stay. The home was awesome! We had a view to the beach and we're able to see the sunrise from the upper porch. Very close to all the shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

Beautiful grounds just steps away from the beautiful beach and Town with local restaurants and great food options along with Hawaiian local shave ice stands to delight the grandchildren and all of us! Linda and Tom welcomed us all with kindness and aloha!

Wonderful, immaculate, comfy home away from home!

We only spent 4 nights and it was difficult to leave. Home is well appointed, has all the ammenties you need..from shower gel to snorkels!! We loved sitting on the top deck so much we walked into town 3 nights and brought food back so we could eat and enjoy the ocean/mountain view!! Pizza food truck in yard across the street has excellent pizza..and we are from NYC! Linda and Tom are great hosts; there if needed but also leave you on your own. After several days of hiking, kayaking, bike riding, walking around town, I also enjoyed resting in the hammock!! Great way to experience the island like the locals!! Highly recommend for two or more people!!

A convenience for everyone. The Eastside location is convenient to restaurants, shops and beaches, It is a unique location with a rich history that includes the Wailua River and a string of beach parks and now the bike path as a focal attraction for residents and visitors.The Eastside boasts walk ability, local style, ocean proximity and an eclectric mix of pretty much everything you'd want. Walk to historical Kapaa Town with fine boutique shops, casual dining, arts and crafts; walk to library, public swimming pool, and Wednesday afternoon Farmer's Market where the local people sell their produce; Water ski up the Wailua River, View the majestic Opaekaa Water Falls, Extensive Shopping at the Coconut Market Place with free Hula shows or enjoy a quiet evening in a comfortable movie theater, or enjoy dining at nearby hotels fine restaurants fine dining service. Walk to local post office, medical center and much more. A car is recommended, but not really required if you don't care to tour the island.

The quaint town of Kapaa offers retail shops, dining and healthy food outlets, with ethnic cruisine as well as Living Food eateries and health stores.

Enjoy the 12 ft wide concrete pathway all along the oceanside for

jogging, biking, walking, strolling. Lots of grass surrounding

rental for the small children who get restless.

We provide beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards and some sand toys for your convenience. Snorkel gear is not provided but you are welcome to use snorkel gear left behind by previous guests.

Other Activities:Golfing, Kite Surfing, Kayaking, Snorkeling, Bike Rentals, Paddle Boarding, Surfing and best of all pure relaxation.

The fisherman in the family can always 'talk story' with the locals at the nearby mini boat harbor where charter fishing boats are often setting sail for fresh Ahi, Ono, and Mahi-mahi. Fresh fish on the BBQ is always a must while enjoying the ambiance of the island.

Plan a family cook-out on property with a private BBQ, picnic tables, and night lighting.

Enjoy the coconut market place which is a small shopping center only one mile away, with fine shops, eateries, and much more. This is a great place for souvenir shopping and to watch an afternoon hula show.

Honu Hale Kai is comfortable, fully furnished, fresh, and awaiting your arrival. Warm aloha will be extended to all that enter through its doors.
