We enjoyed our stay in St. Malo. The location on the boardwalk, within walking distance of the intra muros, was superb. We felt let down, however, by the addition of extra charges, and the limited provisions in the apartment. Specifically, after booking, we were charged 60 euros for towels and linens (having to make the beds ourselves), 7 euros per day for Wifi (which only worked well between 2300-0800), and 80 euros for cleaning after (double the standard rate). We were given 1 trash bag and 1 roll of toilet paper for our 6 day stay. If this was normal practice in the business, I would be more understanding. However, we have been travelling in Europe for two months now, staying in over 10 different places, and this is the first time we encountered such practices. We booked through Home Away, and this information wasn't apparent to us. Perhaps it was delineated on Inter Home's site.
At any rate, I hope these things can be corrected going forth, for the sake of future travellers. Again, the basement apartment was fine, and the staff at the agency were pleasant, but if they feel the need to charge more, I think it's better to do so upfront.
