About the property

The weeks of August 5th - August 12th and the ECLIPSE week of August 19th through August 26th are open. This is a first rate opportunity to book a first class beach house at a great rate. You may call Meg directly at 843 327 3881.

You are invited to visit this true SANCTUARY BY A SEA. Step inside; the stunning view will send a wave of joy through you. The first thing you know you will be standing on the breezy deck, where the sea and sky seem to join. The smell of salt air ,crashing waves and pelicans soaring by allow you to drop your worldly concerns and be there, in that moment. You know you can relax, now.

Soon you will stroll the short distance down to the beach on the private boardwalk to pick up sand dollars or seashells at waters edge. Seabirds skitter at your feet. How alive and renewed you feel!

You will discover in the supply room plenty of beach chairs or you can hire your beach camp set up for you. Help yourself to the beach toys and rafts.

You are off the clock now. Lounge on the beach to your hearts content! Perhaps you brought your own summer reading or choose something from our library.

Wander over to the semi-private pool used by 4 houses where you can swim and relax on the pool furniture free of sand and salt.

Enjoy a fabulous meal at one of our island's several top notch restaurants, then relax in our hot tub while experiencing the sounds of the pounding surf and the beauty of the moon and stars. It is common to see a shooting star.

Each room has its own and personality. Perhaps the favorite part of the sanctuary is the open covered porch and the adjoining deck. the spectacular view and delightful breezes offers a magical gathering place for a family dinner or cocktail hour. It is a wonderful retreat from the hot sun and a delight at sunset when the clouds turn from white to pink

. There are two master bedrooms in the house. The one on the first floor has a beach view from the bed. It has its own entrance to the hot tub deck, which also leads to the beach walkway. The upstairs master is large and has cathedral ceilings. It has a very comfortable queen size futon sofa bed that opens up and has a side view of the ocean. The 2nd bedroom upstairs has an ocean view from the bed and a special charm of its own. Its my favorite bedroom in the house. I call it the blue room. All the beds in the house are queen except the front room facing the street on the lower floor; it has two twin beds.

The kitchen is a delight! It is wonderful to flip pancakes while watching dolphins frolic in the surf! We have everything you have at home in our kitchen stock; a blender, crock pot, electric frying pan, pots of all sizes, every tool known to man, or at least known to me...

Outside there is a lovely sitting area where there are two grills, one charcoal and one propane. Take your choice.

We don't mind a well behaved pet . Let us know if you are thinking of bringing a four legged loved one.

This sanctuary is non smoking for the enjoyment of everyone. There are smoking areas outside on the decks and the downstairs garden area.

About Meg Kivett - Sanctuary By a Sea now on Facebook!

I was born and raised in Washington DC and found my way to San Francisco for college and graduate school. I received a masters degree in psychological counseling and was happy with my practice and life on the west coast. Then Jim proposed to me...I responded 'I can't leave the Pacific Ocean.' 'How about the Atlantic?' was his answer. We met in Atlantic City New Jersey and traveled from one beach town to the next down the coast, all the way to Key West, Florida. I was skeptical about leaving my life in San Francisco and the beautiful Pacific Ocean. It only took a few days here on the Isle of Palms and visiting Charleston before realizing that I was rapidly falling in love with this place! The beauty, the people, the,to me, is Santa Barbara East. I haven't missed San Francisco nearly as much as I thought I would. And I love my beach!

Meg Kivett - Sanctuary By a Sea now on Facebook! purchased this house in 1993

Why Meg Kivett - Sanctuary By a Sea now on Facebook! chose Charleston Area

I bought this property because it is a true Sanctuary by the Sea! The view cannot be topped. It is a true piece of Paradise...This area offers everything! World class dining, theater, the symphony, watersports of every kind, Spoleto, a wonderful jazz and blues community, fabulous beaches...mild winters, friendly people, etc, etc, etc! A slice of paradise!

What makes this house unique

Besides the view?! Hot tub, private beach paths and a full size pool that you most always have to yourself, (selves). A place to relax and rejuvenate.( Most of my guests come back year after year.) The ocean breeze as you have a family dinner or a private moment with a lover on the covered of the favorite spots in this retreat... come see for yourself. Our beautiful Marina is just four blocks away and has a great restaurant, bar, boat rentals and boat tours. Fun for breakfast and lunch, on the inner coastal waterway, surrounded by magnificent yachts.

For the first time I am offering long term winter rentals at off season rates! What a wonderful place to escape winter, with the splendor and sophistication of Charleston 15 minutes away. Church steeples instead of skyscrapers dot the skyline. Visitors love Charleston as it is a return to memories of a gentler time with its cobblestone streets, flickering gas lamps, and historical landmarks. Walk King Street and explore unique specialty and antique shops. World-class dining normally associated with much larger cities offer vibrant culinary talent, especially of the southern kind. Warm winter temperatures will entice you to walk the pristine beach at the Isle of Palms, and visit the magnificent mansions. Call Meg to discuss your ideas of a winter stay at the Sanctuary by a Sea. It will be a winter escape you will never forget!
