Beautiful location, house has issues

  • 4 of 5

We loved the property location, it's lovely on the beach, and the sea was for the most part, quite calm. The house is comfortable with many amenities but we had so many water issues, it would be dishonest not to share our experience about it. The caretaker was very responsive to our calls but we completely ran out of water during the week and took showers in trickles once transferred to the well. The house could also do with some upgrades in kitchen cookware. I hate to have to mention these drawbacks because the locale is really wonderful. Be sure to bring bug spray! Overall a nice week.

Owner's Response: Dear Renter, As I have just learned of the water issue, since your review, I would like to apologize for any inconvenience you encountered. We try our very best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It is my understanding that due do a lack of rain, our cistern was at low capacity. We have encountered this once before, and lately since the weather patterns have changed. ( It should be rainy season). The caretaker informed me of a malfunction in the well, as he tried to switch water sources. Those two things, working in conjunction have never happened before and with our best efforts will not happen again! Again, I apologize for the low water pressure, I hope your time there will be remembered in a positive way. My best!

Fantastic time in Little Exuma!

  • 5 of 5

Our two families thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your home. It was perfect with the guest house – this was needed to accommodate 9. Loved the well equipped kitchen. Wade is an excellent host, resource. We did encounter very strong sulfur smell with the water and he worked on cleaning the filter and flushing this. This may be an overall island thing, but Wade was very responsive. Truly an incredible beach and the water for swimming is fantastic. Sand flees are as described, so you do need to use repellent. We cooked most meals and did venture down to Santana's one evening. Did a boat excursion with Robert Thompson to the pigs, iguanas and did some fishing. Rented a car through Thompson's at the airport and very accommodating. Guests should know that the road to your home is rough. We first had a mini-van but it road too low to the ground (which was not good for the van); Thompson's was very accommodating in exchanging this for a CRV. We did bring our own meat and this worked out well. We look forward to a future return.

Best house on the best beach in Exuma - great for a family holiday or group of friends

  • 5 of 5

This is probably the best house on the best beach in Exuma. The house is large and comfortable - the pictures on the website are accurate. Everything works (apart from the Wi-Fi on our visit - but we were the first visitors after the hurricane). Its a short walk down decking to the beach. The beach is beautiful white sand, and the house is on the best part of the beach. We had a great time swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, wave diving/surfing, fishing - and lazing about!

The house is a little isolated and you do need a car - but you have the beach to yourselves, and the house has everything that you need. Stock up in food and drinks in Georgetown - its 20/25 minutes away. The kitchen is large, well equipped, and unusually has a fair supply of herbs, spices, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar etc. - so you can actually cook a decent meal! We had some lovely meals and some pretty mean cocktails. "Tropic Breezes" in Williamstown (about 5/10 minutes away) is a great place for food and drinks if you need a break from cooking. Christie (the owner) is warm and cheerful - in contrast to the reception that you will get at "Chat N' Chill".

We hired a boat one day out of Georgetown, and that was great fun - the lady in charge showed us how to use the boat and recommended spots around the area - we just managed not to 'beach' on the sandbar. Nice snorkelling and a fun way to spend a day - we took beers and a picnic.

No complaints - it was a lovely place to stay and we had a very happy holiday.

Dreaming about returning soon!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this AMAZING home for our second family vacation in beautiful Exuma. We had visited the Tropic of Cancer beach during our first Exuma vacation 3 years ago and we thought it was the most beautiful beach we had ever walked on. The house was perfect for our family of 10. It was clean and cool and nicely decorated. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. The dining table is big enough for everyone to eat and perfect for card games too. The rooms are spacious and all have their own bathrooms. The deck was perfect for hanging out and the view every morning will take your breath away. We felt like we had our own private little piece of paradise. Just the beach and us! We explored the beach, water and rocks just a short walk to the right and to the left. We kayaked to the small island just a short distance from the house. We loved the big brown butterflies, lizards and tiny hermit crabs that greeted us every morning on the back porch. The house keeper, Wade was wonderful. I can not say enough about how nice it was to have him for questions and suggestions. Santanas and Tropic Breeze are just a short drive down the beach for some of the best food and company you can find on the island! I'm not kidding! We LOVE these 2 restaurants! Chat n Chill is a must on Sunday. Just take the short boat ride "Elvis Water Taxi" from the Georgetown marina for $12 per person round trip. Plan to stay for the day! So much fun! Don't miss Coco Plum Beach. It's the only sandbar you can reach without a boat. It is unbelievable! You will feel like you are walking on water I promise!

Our trip would not be complete without spending a day with Ray and Justin at Exuma Water Sports. Swimming pigs, grape eating iguanas, gentle nurse sharks and amazing snorkeling experiences are just some of the things you will talk about forever. Look them up and schedule a tour before you get to Exuma. We loved our stay in this beautiful island home and enjoyed exploring Exuma! Already dreaming about returning!

Hint: Order Avon's Skin So Soft from Amazon before you come to Exuma. The mosquitos are crazy! Even the locals recommend Skin So Soft. We tested it and IT WORKS!

Simply Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely Fantastic.

Beautiful home, cute and comfy cottage. Amazing views and vistas from enormous balcony.

Creamy white sand that never gets hot. Mile long beach is a fabulous walk for me.

Great snorkeling off the many close Cays. The cave on Pelican Cay is really cool.

Daughters loved it here. Neat places near by to explore.

Private, quite, tranquil, calming - priceless...

Nicest beach house I have ever stayed at ... will truly miss this place.

Girls are already asking when we can come back.

Having a car helped. All of the pictures are accurate. Owners were great.

Great place to unplug, unwind and relax

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable and homey. The premises was just as pictured and actually rooms were surprisingly larger than they appear in the pictures. The owner was fair and accomodating.

The house is well maintained and there are activities available in town such as scuba excursions and leisure boat rentals.

The house and cottage are relatively remote so you will need a car or, you can walk up the road to Santana's for an impromptu drink and bite to eat!

Visit Peace and Plenty bar or Two Turtles for after dinner drinks and dancing al fresco.

I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends looking for a low key, relaxing beach vacation. A great place to unplug and fall off the grid!

Car: recommended

In Little Exuma, The Lignum Vitae Property sits on the beautiful crescent beach, Tropic of Cancer. Probably the most gorgeous beach in the Exumas, it is frequented by modeling agencies and magazines in search of pristine, isolated, natural settings.
