Don't hesitate to book this perfect vacation villa located in paradise. Tropic of Cancer beach is absolutely breathtaking and the house is directly on it with a great deck and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the beach. The house has everything you need and more. The views are spectacular. The photos can't do them justice.
Alexis and her family were kind enough to rent us their beautiful home for us to have our wedding at. Alexis was so helpful with the planning and put us in touch with everyone we needed to be before we got there including Dee from Santana's who came to the house to cook her world famous Bahamian food for our wedding guests. (You must go to Santana's which is a short drive from the house. Her food is out of this world and she is wonderful lady.)
Be sure to check out Sugar Adventure Company for a day trip of the cays! Worth every penny. Sugar and his son Montel were the best guides we could ask for. We did a private tour because we had a large group, but I'm sure the other day trips they provide with groups would be just as memorable. A day trip with them is a must while in Exuma!
Everything about this vacation house, the cottage and the location is perfection. The beach is long and remote. We only saw a handful of people the entire week. The water is that gorgeous turquoise that the Bahamas are famous for. The kitchen is large and well equipped. There is a large grill outside which they provided propane for. Wade the groundskeeper stocked the fridge with food and beer for our arrival which was a huge help! There was a watercooler with lots of jugs at the house and lots of cleanings supplies, kitchen spices, bugs spray, ect. The couches and beds were very comfortable. There are very soft linens and extremely comfortable mattresses.
I can't say enough about this vacation property. Look no more, just book before someone else does. You have found heaven on earth!
We can't thank you enough Alexis! We had the most wonderful time. Can't wait for our next trip back :).
Thank you for staying at Lignum Vitae and for choosing it for your wedding! I was very happy to help! It is so gratifying to know that our efforts to make the house welcoming to guests are appreciated. The Tropic of Cancer beach is a rare and beautiful place. Being near it can bring such enormous tranquility and we hope that the house and everything we do to be hospitable to guests, adds to that sense of calm . Time with your family and friends in a secluded place- there is nothing better! Come back soon!
A perfect blend of adventure and relaxation away from it all...
If your perfect day starts with an early morning walk in the surf line, letting the ocean kiss your ankles while watching the sun rise, this house is for you. If you dream of kayaking out to small rocky cays and snorkeling in the surrounding reefs, witnessing the underwater gardens swaying with the tides illuminated with sunlight, this house is for you. If you can appreciate getting lost counting the thousands of shades of Exuma blue with which creation painted these waters, this house is for you. If you know the simple joy of watching the night time sky while feeling ocean breezes on your skin, this house is for you. If you know that island life means taking what the ocean gives you in any given day, this house is perfect for you.
The house is clean, spacious, well-appointed and perfectly set on the Tropic of Cancer beach, a short wooden walkway leading to a deck above the beach, engineered to always catch the gentle ocean breezes. The pictures do not lie, it is an amazing house. The beach is perfect Bahamian sugar sand, and the ocean is, well, the ocean, showing its varying personalities at any given time. On a given morning, it may churn as the tide comes in, mixed with stiff breezes – an invitation to play in the surf, adventure to flats of the other side of the island, or explore the coast. At other times, the ocean will be perfectly serene, an invitation snorkel on the reefs surrounding the cays just offshore, sit in the waters, or simply swim the coast. A short drive back towards Great Exuma has Forbes Hill beach, which deserves several hours of exploring as well. In mid-March, the ocean will change from morning to afternoon, so be flexible and run to what it gives you at any given time.
We ate at Peace N Plenty, Santana’s, and Blu, but made most of our meals using the gas grill and well equipped kitchen. Prime Island Meats has a great selection, including some fantastic strip steaks and red snapper. Next trip, we plan to reach out and buy some fresh island fish – the grouper and grunts we caught in the mangroves past William’s Town were returned to the waters to grow more, as was the small barracuda caught just outside of the cut before the Ferry Bridge (there is a cut that leads from the salt pond to the ocean which houses many fish). And, yes, Bonefish were caught on the fly in the channel leading to the flats.
It was perfectly our home for a week celebrating Spring Break.
Perfect villa and beach!!
This is a perfect place to stay. Tropic of Cancer is the nicest beach on the island and this villa is sitting on it. Amazing views from all over the villa, Lignum Vitae is literally perfect. Everything is in this villa one could want and with over 3500 sq feet - lots of room for a large group. The caretaker Wade is outstanding, from getting groceries for us when we arrived, to bringing us gas when we forgot to fuel up in George Town. The beach and water on TOC beach is incredible. Others have mentioned the lack of people on there and we can second that, as we never saw more than 6 or 8 people on our section of the beach all week. The water colour and pure white sand make this the nicest beach we have ever saw and we have travelled extensively in the Caribbean. We usually go to a different place each year, but everyone seems to want to return here.
Perfect house, perfect beach!
If you're looking to stay in Little Exuma, look no further as this is the place you want to stay. The house is very spacious and well appointed with modern conveniences and beautiful decor. It was very clean upon arrival, each room has an AC and their own bathroom and the beds are very comfortable. We had no problems during our stay and the caretaker, Wade, was always just a phone call away. The beach was fantastic and very private as the home is located near the end of the beach, away from the public entrance. And yes, it's directly on the Tropic of Cancer!
From the airport, the drive is approximately 45 mins. It's a 30 min drive from the house to Georgetown and you must visit Santanna's bar and grill which is a 5 min drive. You definitely need to rent a car as there isn't anything accessible by walking. Also, make sure you visit Sam's conch spot at the FishFry in Georgetown. Best conch salad you'll ever have!
We will definitely return to this property if we decide to stay in Little Exuma again. The house and beach are too perfect not to. It was very difficult for our group to leave as this was no doubt the best vacation we've all had! Thanks to Alexis and Jo for letting us stay at their property.
WOW! What an amazing trip! This house was spacious and cozy all at the same time, perfect for our group of seven people( with plenty of room to spare). The caretaker and the owner were so helpful, kind, and responsive to all of our needs. Not only was the house cozy but had AMAZING views of the breathtaking beach all throughout the house. The privacy of the beach was just what we needed for a relaxing trip. Nothing comes close to beauty of this beach which is steps away from the house. The white sands and crystal clear water was incredible. The house is equipped with everything; beach chairs, kayaks, floats, towels etc. We cannot wait to come back!
Wonderful time in Paradise
We had a great time. The beach was amazing, the house is well equipped and very comfortable, and Wade the caretaker is great. We look forward to returning for years to come.
Glad you had a good time David! We welcome you back anytime:)
In Little Exuma, The Lignum Vitae Property sits on the beautiful crescent beach, Tropic of Cancer. Probably the most gorgeous beach in the Exumas, it is frequented by modeling agencies and magazines in search of pristine, isolated, natural settings.
