About PENNY LAGRAVE
Having travelled a lot we felt that it was time to find a vacation home that we would like to return to again and again
PENNY LAGRAVE purchased this Condo in 2007
Why PENNY LAGRAVE chose Zona Hotelera
We fell in love with San Jose del Cabo (where the desert meets the sea)after driving up and down the West coast of mainland Mexico. We liked the charm of artsy 200 year old San Jose and the modern conveniences of a world class resort, Las Mananitas.
What makes this Condo unique
The condo we chose is just 5 steps up from the huge winding pool and hottub. We liked that fact that you could just step out onto the grounds to get to the BBQ and not have to go up the elevator with food getting cold. Being on the ground floor made the condo feel more like our home. The condo has a huge patio that is covered which makes it possible to have shade all day. For sunbathing, the chaises are just a few steps to the pool. Altho' you are on the ground floor, the condo is private as it is raised up 5 steps so that other vacationers cannot see into the condo.

Huge Balcony, very relaxing!
We really enjoyed our 6 days here. The grounds were safe, secure, and very well kept up. Upon arrival we had some unexpected challenges overcome, but the owner was easy to communicate with and we were able to make everything right! I would definitely stay here again!
Thanks you for your stay - you were a considerate and reasonable a guest.
Beautiful Grounds But.....
The unit was very spacious. There were quite a few things that we really liked about it: proximity of pool to unit, nice walk down the path to the beach, we could walk to the grocery store every day for food, and catching a bus into the downtown was very easy! We also found the beds comfortable which is very nice! The duvets on the queen beds is that scratchy-slippery fabric, but at least the sheets were soft and the bed comfortable.
The few things that were cons for us: You cannot see the beach or ocean from this unit/building in the Las Mananitas. It is close to the highway and you can hear the all the highway noise from the pool and outdoor seating. You cannot hear it inside the unit which is nice. If you walk to a different pool on the property, you can see the ocean and won't get the traffic noise - however with smaller kids that isn't always convenient. Also, the unit has nothing in terms of little extras for the beach (such as beach chairs to bring out, or a pail and shovel for kids - not a big deal, and not a deal breaker. You can get a taxi to Walmart and pick those things up yourself.) Plenty of towels and beach towels but the beach towels are fraying, some of them had huge holes in them.
Beautiful grounds, and the staff very friendly. It was very quiet when we were there too. However be careful, we had a pair of Oakleys stolen right off the table when we were swimming.
Upon arrival we felt that the cleaning wasn't what we would expect. There were a lot of large dust/hair balls on the floor, the furniture and rug in the living room are looking old, stained and grungy, and some of the towels smelled as though they hadn't been cleaned prior to our arrival. I looked past all this, we weren't overly concerned, and I would not have even mentioned this in a review. I do mention it however, because I was disappointed to receive a message from Penny after our departure. She accused us of having more people staying in the condo other than our family, she said that her cleaning lady reported all bedding had all been used on the floor and had to be dry-cleaned because it was smelly and dirty. We did not receive our full damage deposit because of this.
These accusations weren't delivered kindly, and it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, especially because we are a very clean and honest family. Due to that, I will be more honest in my review since these are things that can, and should, be improved upon.
In the 12 years that I have had this condo at Las Mananitas this is only the second problem that I have had. The other family was disappointed that there were not more services. This was their first stay at a condo and they expected hotel accommodations. My cleaners and property manager have been with me for the 12 years and they have never contacted me before after the guests left. I really do not have anything to go on except their opinions which were negative. I am sorry for this guests disappointment but I really feel that I was justified in making a claim on her security deposit for all the extra cleaning and dry cleaning. If you read my other reviews, you will see that they are very good. I guess you can't please everyone.
Very well kept
We had a wonderful holiday. The facilities are spotless and well maintained. We loved our condo. It had everything we needed and the location was perfect. Walking distance to the grocery store and restaurants. We will be back.
I look forward to hosting you and your family again in the future.
Comfortable and spacious
We loved this place. It was spacious, comfortable, clean, and worth the price. The unit is on the ground floor so it's right next to the pool and the hot tub with a big veranda and a table to enjoy meals outside. You can take a short walk through the condo complex to the beach and enjoy the ocean views. It is very conveniently located to restaurants and shopping, especially La Comer, where you can stock up on just about anything. The DVD player did not work but the wi-fi was strong and we could all stream Netflix . The owner was responsive and helpful with our questions. All in all, we had a great time at this lovely place.
Thanks for the kind words. It was a pleasure to have you.
Great location and excellent property
Loved it, nearby large supermarket and nearby excellent restaurants. Pools and Jacuzzis were numerous.
Clean, spacious and well kept condo in convent location
This condo was in a great location in the hotel zone right on the beach. Unlike many places in Mexico, there was no funkiness about it. Very high-end clean well-maintained well staffed and lots of personal care towards the complex. Great security, maintenance, and friendly staff. The unit itself is in a fantastic location steps from Jacuzzi and Pool as advertised, but also steps from the tennis court gym basketball etc. for those that are athletically inclined. Fully stocked kitchen, and walking distance again as advertised to the supermarket. As of Spring 2018, it is also walking distance to a fancier supermarket so you have options there as well. The only drawback to this unit its close proximity to the road. Once outside the unit you can hear traffic noise Albeit white noise in the background. So if you’re looking for that quiet tranquil sound of the waves crashing it will be combined with truck breaking and engine roar.
Las Mananitas is ideally situated - no car needed. $30 cab fare from airport and $7 ride into town or $1 on the public bus. You can walk your groceries back to the condo from the Walmart Style grocery store. There is a new 'swim with the Dolphins' venue across the road - just opened - I checked it out and its great. Also you can spend a day at the new Marina, having lunch at The Container and then go for a swim in the bay at Playalita and check out the new hotel there. San Jose itself has dozens of quaint little shops and a beautiful church in the town square.
