Aloha and welcome to the Papakea Resort, a 13 acre oceanfront resort with a true feeling of aloha. The complex is comprised of two sets of low-rise buildings, each with its own oceanfront pool area including a spa, a covered cabana and multiple gas barbecues. The resort also has two large putting greens, two shuffleboard courts, three lighted tennis courts and a number of beautiful koi ponds.
For those of you who just can't leave work behind, Papakea offers wireless Internet access throughout the resort and has a Shakanet Internet kiosk in the front lobby. For the rest of you, the golf courses of Kapalua and Kaanapali are nearby, and great snorkeling and boogie-boarding beaches are within walking distance. In addition, Papakea has its own Activity Desk, staffed by professionals who can help you plan any of the great activities that await you on the island of Maui.
Our oceanview condo has been completely remodeled and includes top-of-the-line cabinets, tile, paint, carpet and appliances. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in 1200 square feet of space.
The living area has ample seating, as well as cable TV, DVD player, and a stereo with CD player and iPod dock. The dining table seats six, with additional seating on the ocean view lanai. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, cooking utensils, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. The unit also has its own washer and dryer.
The master bedroom has a pillow-top king size bed, plenty of dresser and closet space, and a new flat screen TV. It has a full ocean view and its own en suite bathroom. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, separate vanity area, and a hair dryer. The second bedroom on the main level has a queen and a twin bed, another TV and an adjacent bathroom. The loft overlooking the living area has a queen size bed, a queen sleeper sofa, and a TV, DVD and CD player in the sitting area. Great for the kids! There are air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and in the living room.
Sip a mai-tai on your private lanai and enjoy the beautiful views of the pool, the beach and the island of Molokai. Or, keep an eye on your husband as he cooks dinner on one of the poolside barbecues.
We went to Maui on our honeymoon 20 years ago and have gone at least once a year every year since. We always dreamed of having our own home on the island and were lucky enough to find Papakea a few years ago. Papakea is one of the few remaining resorts on Maui that still maintains the feel of old Hawaii. It's quiet, with beautiful landscaping, plenty of open areas and a magnificent ocean view. We have enjoyed many wonderful vacations here with friends and family over the years.

Our family of 6 arrived late, so we didn't see much, but went to sleep to the sound of the waves. We all woke up to find we were in paradise! What a wonderful, beautiful place. We had a wonderful time and, after 10 days, your condo felt like home. We'll be back!
This was our fourth time back to Carol's condo and we couldn't have been happier. Some very nice upgrades since our last visit such air conditioning in every room, including the loft and new full width sliding doors and window in the master. We have always thought this was one of the best condo locations in Papakea with great views of the ocean and pool/bbq area and quick access to the same plus parking right behind the unit. Grounds and pool area are impeccably kept and staff is always polite and helpful. We were staying here while the seawall was under repair but this work was a non issue for us. The actual drilling we did see and hear was never sustained for very long as they were often busy with other quieter work related to the project and making repairs to the drilling equipment. Can't recommend this condo enough, you will not be disappointed. Aloha!
Homeowner, Carol, was extremely helpful with every need and question. She was always available and prompt. The property is very spacious, comfortable and the location was great. The view from the condo is amazing, from the living room and master bedroom the ocean and pool view is spectacular. The beach is a short walk, the pool right below and groceries right across the street from complex. The complex is well maintained, peaceful, staff was friendly and knowledgable about the area and excursions, there is a concierge in lobby that arranges activities. Great complex for families and 55+. Highly recommended, mahalo Carol for everything and looking forward to our future stays.
Like many others I selected this condo based on the amazing reviews. It was still EVEN BETTER THAN I DREAMED! This condo literally has everything to make it a perfect vacation home. There were five of us in this beautiful place for eight--short short short--days. We had plenty of space, plenty of dishes and glasses and quality cookware and towels--plenty of everything we could have wanted. The view from the lanai is indescribable, brilliant blues of the ocean, Molokai in sharp detail beyond. The condo itself was immaculate and luxurious.
The grounds of the beautiful Papakea property are also incredible. Fabulous landscaping is meticulously cared for. Both pools and both hot tubs were always sparkling. The grills were cleaned every morning. We were here over a crazy spring break week and all the units appeared to be full yet the place was never crowded. We spent time at some of the other resorts which seemed to be bursting at the seams, but our little Papakea gem was serene and welcoming.
Across the street the Times Supermarket offers some of the best produce, meat and fish we found and at reasonable prices. Also walking distance are a dozen restaurants ranging from local food to gourmet cuisine. A cab to Black Rock for a luau cost us only $12 for five people!
We found a dozen great snorkeling beaches and stunning hikes within ten minutes of the condo as well.
We are already planning a return trip to the magical place. I would recommend it to anyone. Carol is amazing to work with, so helpful and offered so much information to make everything fun and smooth. Can't possibly say enough about our wonderful experience here.
We stayed for 2 weeks at this lovely condo. There were 5 adults - one couple and three single women. Reading other reviews, we were informed that everything we needed was there. That is an understatement. Everything and MORE!!! We have stayed at this resort many times in the past, but never in this conto. The outside screen door was great -- keeping the lanai glass doors open and the wooden door opened allowed the breezes to flow freely and keep everything comfortable. Only had to use the air conditioners a couple times. The kitchen was fabulous, too. So well stocked and new appliances that were very quiet. We also commented on all the clothes hangers. Just so many little things that made this stay so nice. Of course, the view from the lanai was great also and we enjoyed watching the whales during our morning cup of coffee. We are excited to return to this condo in the future
We stayed in the condo in January of this year.(I am a bit late writing this!) The condo is wonderful! There were six adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. We had everything that we needed for cooking and for going to the beach. The air conditioning was a plus for the back bedroom that didn't have the ocean breeze.(each room has individual air conditioners which is great when it's only needed in one room!) It wasn't needed in the master bedroom since we kept the window open and had the sound of the waves and the ocean breezes all night. Loved the master bedroom!!! The location is perfect. We saw whales from the lanai many times. The condo has a fantastic ocean view. Carol the owner is great to work with. Wish we could be there now!!!
The condo and view is just as the owners have pictured. Very comfortable, clean, and well appointed condo with a clear view of the ocean. Every bed was comfortable. There were 6 of us total, 3 couples, and we all felt that we had a private space of our own to retreat to. We were able to sit on the lanai and whale watch.
Best thing about this condo is how comfortable it is and how well they have stocked it. I also love this location on Maui. Little less crowded than Kaanapali area and I prefer West Maui over South Maui. Lahaina is a short drive away for dinners out or a little night life. Lahaina Harbor is also where you will catch most of the ocean excursions/whale watching from in West Maui. Papakea is a very large complex but they have it divided into 2 so it feels a bit more manageable, which also gives you 2 pool/hot tub areas to choose from as well as grassy areas, etc.
Worst thing about this condo is...elevator was sketchy and with condo being on 4th floor we took the stairs a lot. I also thought there was a slight bit of beach in front of condo but there is none, at least not while we were there. It was a crazy storm weekend though so maybe that had something to do with it. Hot tub next to our building was broken the whole time we were there. Parking lot was large but got full very quickly at the end of the day. We had to park a distance from condo and walk a bit at the end of some days. Neither of these being a big deal, we are all in good shape except one friend who has a knee injury. At check in, it did feel very time share resorty with the classes and so on offered, but no one is pressuring you to sign up anywhere.
Just a reminder about being hit with the additional $15 per day resort fee when you check in . It is clearly stated and I knew that, but it still came as a surprise upon check in when you feel like you have already paid in full up front.
All in all a really good condo and I would recommend it.
On-site yoga and aquaerobics classes; two 12-hole putting greens, two shuffleboard courts, three tennis courts plus plenty of open grassy areas where kids can run around.
