(View virtual tour link at bottom of listing for more and larger photography) Blue Moon Cabin is located in the 'Lakes' log home neighborhood, in Seven Devils, conveniently situated off Hwy. 105 in the Heart of the High Country - just 15 minutes to Boone & App State University, Grandfather Mountain, Linville, Sugar Mountain & Banner Elk and a 25 minute drive to beautiful downtown Blowing Rock - via Shulls Mill Road - one of the most scenic local drives on the mountain. Just over one mile from Blue Moon is Hawksnest Resort where you can enjoy winter snow tubing, and the Hawksnest's zipline course in the spring-autumn months. There are several small lakes within Seven Devils for you to explore & hike to right from the cabin - and within a short distance - there are many hiking trails, fly fishing streams, golf courses, gem mining, and numerous outdoor activities for all seasons! A variety of local restaurants are within 10-20 minutes away.

Cabin Features

Blue Moon is situated on a quiet street and features a friendly rocking chair front porch where you will find yourself gravitating too. Enjoy the surrounding lush native woodlands and beautiful boulder rock formations across the street. There is a circular driveway for ease in parking & a safe (for children) and expansive yard to enjoy. The Town of Seven Devils provides winter snow plowing throughout the mountain for your convenience.

The main living area exemplifies mountain rustic elegance with plush, comfortable furnishings, a soaring 2-story wood-burning stone fireplace, exposed hand-hewn beams, custom-crafted wood shutters, beautiful wood floors with decorative area rugs and a pine farm table for casual dining. This cabin is newly appointed with brand new carpeting, linens and bedding and special mountain decorative touches throughout - all which are updated for the season. There is a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel sink if you choose to stay in - or feel free to fire up the gas grill on the back deck. The cozy back porch sun room features a comfortable sofa, television, and hand-painted bistro table for lingering with your morning coffee - and is the perfect spot for a quiet escape with your favorite book. After a long day of hiking, shopping or just relaxing, you'll love retreating to the charming first floor master bedroom.

About Mike and Marianne

Our family has been coming to the mountains for years - and have all enjoyed some of our fondest memories in the High Country. There is so much to do in each of the four seasons as far as outdoor activities - and we have also grown to appreciate the great music, concerts and plays, fun restaurants, shopping, ASU football games and the many festivals throughout the year. It is our favorite place to get away from city life and enjoy nature and breathe the beautiful mountain air as well as slow down and RELAX....spending quality time with our family and friends. We hope you cherish your time at Blue Moon Cabin as much as we do with our friends and family!

Mike and Marianne purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Mike and Marianne chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

They say you are either 'mountain' people or 'beach' people - and although we enjoy both - we love and adore the Blue Ridge Mountains. After renting for years all over the surrounding area, we narrowed our search down to the Seven Devils area of the High Country - specifically due to its central location to all the unique and quaint mountain towns close by. Boone and Appalachian State University are 15 minutes up Hwy 105, Sugar Mountain Banner Elk, and Beech are just 10-20 minutes away, Grandfather Mountain and Linville are 10-15 minutes away - and the charming town of Blowing Rock is 20-25 minutes away via Shulls Mill Drive - one of the most scenic mountain drives in the High Country! Since the ski slope has closed, Seven Devils is now home to one of the largest Snow Tubing Resorts and Zipline courses on the East Coast - which is located 1.5 miles away at Hawksnest. Many folks drive up and buy their tickets for a time slot - and then go back and relax at the cabin until then.

What makes this cabin unique

You will enjoy the mountain rustic elegance of the cabin which is updated for each season. Relax in big, overstuffed, comfortable furniture. The great room features a wood-burning, 2-story fireplace, exposed hand-hewn beams, custom crafted wood shutters and wood floors. The cabin has been appointed with brand new linens and Pottery Barn comforters, as well as new carpet in the bedrooms. The main great room is the perfect gathering spot for families and the sun room offers a quiet little escape to relax and renew. Everyone loves the large rocking chair front porch with comfy seating for six. The property sits in a picturesque wooded setting on a quiet circle culdesac of charming log homes. There is parkland across the street with huge boulder rock formations where children love to play while parents can watch from the front porch.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We can't thank you enough for sharing your beautiful cabin with us - especially since you had to change your own plans to accomodate us after our original date got "iced out". What family memories we have made - snow tubing at Hawksnest was a blast! Then it was on to Sugar Mountain for snow boarding - the kids couldn't wipe the smile off there faces! Sunday was spent by the fireplace playing board games - we nearly made our goal of playing every game in your cabinet! We've used VRBO for years, and have always had positive experiences, but this experience rises well above the rest! Blue Moon Cabin is in a fantastic location, is so beautifully decorated - and generously well-stocked. You have thought of everything to make your guests feel so welcome. We're already talking about our next trip back.

My family enjoyed the comfort of nicely decorated cabin which was in easy reach of Boone, Blowing Rock and other attractions near Grandfather Mountain. We were able to entertain our family and friends. Overall, the experience was very nice.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautifully designed and decorated, but also very cozy and comfortable. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. The porch was my favorite place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning overlooking the fantastic landscape and woods. Couldn't have asked for a better stay and weather. Even my 19 year old son who attends ASU said it was so nice he wished we lived in the cabin year round! He usually doesn't even notice my Christmas decorations!

I would highly recommend this clean, well-maintained, wonderful cabin to all! Thank you for a great experience!

Everything about this cabin was perfect from the warm cozy, homey feel inside to the flawless landscaping outside. We spent our mornings on the porch drinking coffee and watching the wildlife. It was the perfect anniversary getaway and we will definitely be booking again.

Beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very comfortable - cozy, yet private sleeping accommodations. We spent most of our time on the rockers and swing on the front porch.

If we have the opportunity to visit again, we would rebook this darling VRBO.

The cabin is in a very nice neighborhood in the Town of Seven Devils called The Lakes. It's about 3 miles from Banner Elk.

We thought the cabin was very nicely furnished and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much and would come back.

Labor Day Weekend in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to make a vacation out of a rare Appalachian State home football game on Labor Day weekend. This cabin allowed us to do just that. Loved sitting out on the front porch in the cool, crisp fall morning air. It's a bit outside of Boone, but in an overall good location for exploring the high country in general. Would definitely stay here again!
