This Victorian custom-built home is situated on a narrow peninsula, affording sunrise and sunset water views from the porches and the third-floor balcony. A small cobble beach can be accessed at low tide for wading, shelling, and sunning. An easy kayak launch from this location provides exploration of the near and distant islands as well as a close look at the seals, loons, and lobster boats which inhabit the surrounding waters.
The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the largest botanical garden in New England is just 1/2 mile from this home. The CMBG is a horticultural gem and is considered one of the Maine's premier natural attractions.
Beautifully appointed with vintage and antique furnishings, this seaside home comes equipped with every amenity anyone could want for a truly carefree and memorable vacation.
A new deep water dock, shared only with owners' other home next door is now in place! Relaxing on the float, feels just like being in a boat.
All of our guests have raved about the accommodations and the spectacular views at our cottage. We choose to inform all of our potential guests that our property is adjacent to a grass and gravel long term parking area. The area is for residents of a small off shore island community called the Isle of Springs. We have been renting Morning Star Cottage for twelve years and have never had a single complaint about it. Everyone who spends time at Morning Star Cottage loves it, and we are confident you will too!

About George and Kathy Hervochon
George left his job on Wall Street in 1975 after picking up a newspaper left on an empty seat of his commuter train. He read about "owner-built homes training" in midcoast Maine and decided to build our home and move there with our two young daughters. We purchased 130 acres and built our home in Newcastle, which is located about 20 miles from Boothbay Harbor. Just a few months after moving into our home, a nice young couple knocked on the door and asked George if he would build them a house just like ours. He agreed and continued to build homes, under the company name of "Hervochon Construction" for the next 39 years! We have remained in the Damariscotta/Newcastle area all this time, although we moved into different houses built by my husband. George has designed and built a variety of styles to suit many clients over the years. The project he is most proud of is St. Patrick's new church in Newcastle, of which he is a member. We give God the glory for that blessing! I am a retired elementary school teacher, and George has turned the building business over to our daughter AnniPat, and our son-in-law. We stay busy with our two summer rentals, and our three grandchildren. ~Kathy Hervochon

Staying at Morning Star was absolutely delightful! The minute we got to the house, our children described the cottage as a minature dollhouse. Everyday when we returned back to the cottage, from the many different activities there were to do in the area, it was just like coming home. Very relaxing! We would go back to stay in a heartbeat! Thank you Kathy and George.
Wonder fall getaway!
Beautiful home in a spectacular location! George and Kathy were wonderful hosts. Couldn't have wished for a better fall getaway. We'll be back!

Fantastic stay at Morning Star
Our stay was fantastic in Boothbay. The cottage is large, airy and very convenient to all the local spots. The fire pit and dock we used every day, with amazing views of the stars at night. We had 4 adults and 5 kids with us and the home provided plenty of space both indoors and out.
Strongly suggest renting kayaks as the area by the home is fantastic to explore islands, or catch the seals sunbathing every afternoon.
Thanks for a fantastic stay and vacation!
We just returned from a wonderful week at Morningstar Cottage. The house was charming with a great floorplan layout and exquisite decorations! The owners were so helpful and the house was clean and comfortable. It was perfect for our 2 grandchildren as well. We all loved having the use of the 2 kayaks and even saw a seal! We crabbed off the dock and managed to snag a small lobster, which was great for "show and tell" before heading back to its watery home! We would rank this cottage as our number "1" choice and we have been coming to Maine for vacation since 2005! Thank you so much for sharing your house with others.
This home is so clean, welcoming, and provides incredible views of the bay! The owners, Kathy and George, contacted us to make sure everything was in order for our visit. I would highly recommend this rental to any family. The outdoor grill was an added bonus for us as we prepared several dinners while we were there! We truly had a fantastic Maine experience!
We experienced Maine for the first time this year and we found the perfect Maine home to stay in. The home itself is lovely. The time, love and great decorating makes this house exceptional in every way. Also, spotlessly clean and comfortable beds.
The property is right on the water with a long dock to get your best views of islands and sun sets. Boothbay Harbor is just a few miles away for great restaurants and excursions on the water.
We enjoyed lobster everyday! There is a little store right down the road to buy fresh lobsters to cook.
Thanks to George &Cathy for making this home so special for us.
