Nestled amongst the greenery and sitting thirty-five ft.above the turquoise waters with 'nobody' else around but you, sits the beautiful cottage aptly named ' Beside The Pointe'. The quietness is deafening, the ocean view in front of you is pure ecstasy, and the sunset embraces you as it disappears into the water.
You have no neighbors - only the birds -go nude if you wish. Between Palmetto Point and Savannah Sound, a mile off the main highway thru a greenery-lined track road sits your tranquil paradise- a perfect hideaway for honeymooners.
The beach and sea is 100+ feet down a staircase. Food stores and restaurants are 5 miles away, close, yet far enough away from your quietness.
One mile from Ten Bay beach; 18 miles to Governor's Harbour Airport. Relax in central air comfort with DirectTV. Enjoy the quietness and spectacular views.
My wife and I spent over 3 wonderful weeks at "Beside The Pointe". We were looking for an isolated get-away where we could celebrate my retirement and contemplate our next steps, and this was prefect! First of all, Keith and Sharon, the owners, were so kind and accommodating. Keith really went out of his way to make sure I had a well-functioning wifi which (unfortunately) was still a must for me. The cottage is small and clean and neat, with a great front porch looking over the wonderful bay. It was perfect! And wait till you see Keith's garden and fruit trees - his "labor of love"! Most important, the cottage itself is situated on a bluff which offers a spectacular view of Kemp's Bay. We had this bay entirely to ourselves! Our hosts have their own home next door, but we rarely saw them and other than that there is no one even close. The beach access is a bit rocky, but at low tide it is normally OK. But what was so special - apart from the seclusion - was that about 10 meters out from shore you were in about a meter or so of crystal clear water with a soft sandy bottom that stretched for over a mile to each side of the bay. Moreover, the cottage is on the Caribbean side, so it is normally very clam - sometimes almost like a sheet of glass. My wife and I love to explore, so the location of the cottage was another plus. It is close to the middle of this long island, convenient to go either direction. There was a brand new little grocery store just 2.5 miles to the South which made quick pick-ups convenient. And about 9 miles to the North is Governor's Harbor - a quaint little village with a couple good restaurants, especially (for us) Tippys and The Buccaneer. But here's the main point: we have traveled to most of the islands in the Caribbean and none - repeat, none - can compare to Eleuthera when it comes to BEAUTIFUL BEACHES. So most of the time we explored, and we could hardly believe our eyes. From North to South the beaches are absolutely stunning, and often not easy to reach. (You must have a car, preferably an SUV.) A guide, "The Beaches of Eleuthera", was left in the cottage as a gift by former grateful guests and was a big help. But even if you just try to visit all the beaches called out on the Eleuthera map, you will have your hands full.
The only negative was unrelated to the cottage - it was the scarcity and very high cost of quality food. You also must buy drinking water. Everything, even fruit, is imported, so expect high costs
Keith and Sharon are warm, lovely people who care deeply about their guests' experience. The cottage is quiet and the owners are close if there are problems. A little off the beaten path, this is perfect for a couple looking for privacy and stunning views. The cottage is a short drive from town and 15 minutes from some really spectacular beaches. No wifi but we had at times 4G through BTC (courtesy of our $10/day Verizon travel pass). A hot spot is also made available. Highly, highly recommended.
Brilliance can show itself in many ways. Mozart, Einstein, Hemingway, Picasso and Michelangelo gave us symphonies, formulas, novels, paintings and sculptures. All very well. But you have given us Beside the Pointe! This place is undoubtedly a product of genius!
We spent Christmas through New Year surrounded by breathtaking beauty, and marveled at the ever-changing panorama from our little home away from home, above the bay.
Keith, we can’t thank you enough for making this an unforgettable experience in secluded beauty, relaxation and simple... peace. You went far-and-above what anyone would even hope for, to make our Christmas a memorable one. Your knowledge of the island, the people and what was available, made for the most trouble-free vacation these two seasoned travelers have ever enjoyed.
Every sunset was as spectacular as it was different from the day before, and every excursion into the sea whether barefoot or by kayak or by fin was to plunge into an alien experience where you hate to blink, lest you miss something cool and exciting.
The cottage was spotless when we arrived, and everything we needed was provided. Nobody is surprised when reality is different than our expectations but this property consistently exceeded not only what one thinks likely, but our highest hopes, as well.
It’s really a little silly to expect a vacation destination to be incredibly better than promised, but that’s Beside The Pointe.
My husband and I spent 9 days at Beside the Pointe and it was absolute paradise. The cottage exceeded our expectations and the owner takes excellent care of the house and the property. The cottage was very clean and looked like it was brand new. The gardens were spectacular with papayas, mangos, bananas, pineapples and beautiful flowers everywhere. The owner was so nice and helpful in all aspects of planning our trip and he has really thought of everything. He provided snorkeling gear, kayaks, a fishing spear, fish traps and even a cell phone. We loved the secluded outdoor shower with a view of the Caribbean. The screened in porch was an excellent spot to relax and read after a day of playing. The snorkeling at the Pointe was unbelievable and my husband caught fish for dinner almost every night. We never saw another person in the bay. The location and seclusion of the cottage and the spectacular views of the bay make me wish I was still there. We will definitely stay here again!
My wife and I recently spent 2 weeks at 'Beside the Pointe", this was our 5th trip to the island and have to say that this cottage was our favorite of all our previous stays. The cottage is as described, and was very clean. The screen porch was a nice spot to sit after a day exploring the island. The kayaks were a wonderful surprise, we enjoyed exploring the coral walls, caves and cliffs. The location is very private and I would highly recommend renting a 4WD vehicle. Looking forward to our next trip!
Perfect for a couple, with maybe a small child. It is a like a studio apartment with a wonderful screened in porch as a living room. We saw two people in 11 days when sailboat anchored in "our" bay. Perfectly clean, with full bath and kitchen and outdoor shower as well. Kayaks on the beach with good snorkeling and boating. Beach is rocky with just enough to stretch out, but not so good walking. Miles of great sandy beaches nearby or with a half hour drive. For instance, go to Northside Beach Resort near Rock Sound for the day and have lunch with Rose. Our seventh, or eighth, visit to Eleuthera and our best. Met the owners, Keith and Sharon, and they are extraordinarily nice. Beautiful gardens filled with tropical plants.
