Guestbook comments from the manager

We have had a wonderful time here. We hope to come back again in the future. We will certainly recommend it to friends. From the first minute in Quepos, the people have been friendly, helpful and sincere. My command of Spanish has improved, but when we arrived in Quepos it was so difficult to ask for directions and understand the spoken word. We stopped at the pizza restaurant, and Ronald was kind enough to make a trip here to Manuel Antonio Estates to show us the way. Of course we returned to eat later and the Tex-Mex pizza was the best we had! Ronald also delivers pizza. Viva Ronald!

Yes, this is boring, but you must read on. For food, El Gran Escape is wonderful. The ceviche with fish and shrimp - muy bueno! Electricity was out most of the evening, but why complain? Enjoy the Pura Vida. The Airplane restaurant is cute and stimulates good lively conversations and the food is wonderful there too. Another feature that is not common at home (USA) is the fruit smoothies: so many flavors, so refreshing, especially in the morning.

Now it is time for you to stop reading and go experience Costa Rica, yet you are still reading. You might ask why, but in the spirit of La Pura Vida, one doesn´t ask why. One smiles and enjoys his surroundings. Even on the dirt road to Dominical, it is possible to stop, any number of times for snacks and cold drinks. That is where your trial by fire begins if you are learning Spanish. At the refugio, all the employees are well-spoken in English, and perhaps other languages. The zip-line tour is exhilarating and instills a new awareness of the wonders of nature. Ah! Some days we want to simply sit by the pool and sip a cool drink. We take our laundry to Cindy in town and pick it up clean, dried, and folded for a reasonable price. It´s a sweet little luxury to have clean clothes to put on after a shower. If you are still reading this, you need to get out more. But I thank-you for your time. I hope you enjoy your stay at villa Toucan as much as we have enjoyed ours. What´s not to love?

Great villa

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our 3 night stay very much. Lots of space. Well equipped kitchen. Great location. Safe/secure gated neighborhood. Very friendly staff. Only negative that I would point out is that the two floors are somewhat independent, meaning that there is no internal connection, and therefore require you to go outside to go from one floor to the next. With 2 bedrooms down and one bedroom up, our family of 5 had three of us downstairs and two upstairs. This arrangement is ok, but could be improved if the doors facing pool on each side could be opened by key or touch code from outside, but the latch mechanisms didn't allow that. Still give the place 5 stars anyway!

Awesome jungle house

  • 5 of 5

We lucky to find this beautiful home last minute... the staff accommodated us immediately the same day and were very nice and efficient! The house is situated in the lush jungle with a gorgeous view overlooking the pool and surrounding nature. Our stay was beautiful and peaceful, the house was spacious and clean, and we were happy to have a big bath tub. We would stay here again.

Absolutely perfect and gorgeous and amazing.

  • 5 of 5

The property was clean, beautiful and lovely. The house had all the amenities one would want in a home away from home. The regular cleaning lady helped maintain clean towels and kitchen and whatnot.

Make sure you go on the hike to the waterfall! So beautiful!

Make sure you are home in the afternoon once or twice to catch all the monkeys in the trees!

Dorit and Jessica attended to our every need and provided us with GREAT suggestions for activities and places to buy what we needed.

I would come back for sure and tell a friend to stay for sure!

Pura Vida in Manuel Antonio

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Toucan Villa. The house is about a 10-minute drive to Manuel Antonio Park with great restaurants and beaches along the way. The house was very comfortable and had plenty of room for our family of four. The main living area is upstairs and that is where we spent most of our time. The only drawback is we had to go outside to go to the lower level of the house. Loved spending time on the porch early in the morning to listen to the birds chirping and enjoying great Costa Rican coffee. We can't say enough about Dorit and Jessica. Thank you for all of your great tips and hospitality. We hope to back soon!

Absolutely PERFECT vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

How do you define PERFECT VACATION? For us it was a month at the Tucan Villa in Quepos. Everything was BETTER than we anticipated...the house, the pool, the surroundings. We slept well, played hard, and relaxed on the upper patio every day. There were 4-6 people living in the villa during the month. We never felt crowded...there was always another space in which to spread out. All the appliances were top notch...the villa was clean and well kept.

Walking to Quepos or taking the bus to the beach in Manuel Antonio was easy. We ate in cute little restaurants in Quepos or fancier ones in Manuel Antonio...all the food was incredible. And the tours/tour guides were knowledgable...we particularly liked the night jungle tours with Brian and the birding tours with Johan all arranged by our wonderful managers Dorit (MANY THANKS!) and Rolando (THANKS SO MUCH). The women who cleaned the villa and the gentleman who cleaned the pool area every day were so friendly and did a great job. We really can't say enough about the Costa Rican people who are ALWAYS helpful and friendly. Coming home was a real let down!! PURA VIDA!!!

The best vacation house ever!

  • 5 of 5

This housing was completely perfect. Me along with 5 of my friends stayed for 3 nights in this lovely house and everything was just perfect. Starting with the comunnication with the staff towards the reservation they were extremely efficient and answered every question that I had hours away, their responses quickly and fully detailed. They provided a lot of help and usefull tips about everything you can imagine, from transportation to supermarket choices and of course a variety of activities and sports they are willing to recomend. Upon the arrival they were extremely organized and quick to help you get installed right away, everyone so attentive to every question and full of recomendations, each day a member of a staff came along to see if we needed anything or to check if everything was ok. The house was clean, very big and with all the essentials and more, with all the linens, beds correctly made, we were surprised with the housekeeping service one day we were not home but they are clear about the days they require this service. The location is the best, so close to downtown and to the way to the beach as well, there is full security so don't need to worry about anything. There is privacy at the house however some houses are a little closer so you can see everything at the backyard so they could improve the lack of privacy in those points. There is privacy however sometimes there are some workers and staff hanging around the house, as secure and necessary this may be it's a little invasive but nothing that cannot be resolved by talking with the manager, everyone is kind and so comprehensive. Overal is the perfect house with the perfect spot and perfect attention. We were really please and have recommended it a lot, it was really worth it.
