About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-11)

This five bedroom log home is nicely handcrafted from 10" diameter Alaskan spruce logs. It has a cozy, in the wilderness feel, with large picture windows over looking Kachemak Bay. A center wood stove provides warmth and blends nicely with the surrounding hand carved notches and beams. The kitchen is large and accommodating.

The dining, living room area has many Alaskan books and games, and two couches to enjoy the glacier and mountain views. The large deck is available from the kitchen and dining room area and adds a fresh air, open view with table and gas bar-b-cue.

The upstairs has three bedrooms, one king, one double, and one with two single beds,

A full bath with double sink. The computer room is also on this top level and has Wi-Fi. There is a lovely hand made log queen bed on the main floor with the living area. It has a half bath. Downstairs there is another bedroom with a queen bed, view, and full bath with Jacuzzi. The down stairs level also has the TV room, pool table, and laundry facilities.

The yard has a fire pit in the center of a large lawn, with stumps to sit on while you watch the boats in the bay and the changing colors of the snowy mountains and glaciers tucked in the mountains across the bay. There is a tiny tree house with netting

all around for safety.

This home was so great, and easily accommodated our large group of family members.

The kitchen is well stocked with an island in the middle.

Our family had a nice yard and porch to enjoy and the incredible view

of the Homer spit and glacier was enjoyed from just about every room.

It has a good feeling and is natural gathering place. The log work is exquisitely

done by the owner. very clean and comfortable.

that porch!

Amazing views in spacious but cozy hillside home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Stier House and loved this home. The owner designed this house to take advantage of the beautiful views. First thing you see in the morning when waking up in the master bedroom are the mountains and glaciers across Kachemak Bay. The side of the house where the living room and breakfast area are located is a large expanse of windows looking out over the mountains and bay. There is a lovely deck with the same gorgeous view and with binoculars, mouse can be spotted in the fields below. The large kitchen was great and well stocked. The fresh coffee beans and grinder are examples of the extra niceties provided for guests. This log house is large but cozy with an Alaskan feel. Closets are spacious as is storage in the master bath. Children will love the large yard and tree house. The house was clean and comfortable.

We loved working with Connie at Island Watch, who manages this property. We’ve worked with lots of management companies over quite a few years of vacation home rental, and were very impressed with the personal service and helpfulness of these folks. We rented another home from them the following week since we planned a two week stay in Homer. They were very helpful in the transition between the two properties. We highly recommend them. Stier is a wonderful house if you’re looking for peacefulness and beauty and a comfortable home to enjoy it.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The ladies who take care of the property were great. They were willing to let us get into the house early giving us time to explore and relax before the beginning of a nonstop vacation. The view of the mountains and the spit were beautiful and the house was perfect for our family of 13. It was very interesting. It had everything we needed and more. I am nosey, so I was looking in every nook and cranny. Lots of stuff to explore. Kids had ample room to wrestle, (outside, rolling down hills, swinging from trees, fire pit for s'mores, ect. The beds were very comfortable. Everything was great.

Comfortable, private, with an awesome view!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 stayed 4 nights. We had easy access to shopping; gathered in the open dining/living area, cooked lots of meals in the kitchen (which had all the pans and utensils needed); had fun in Homer fishing, sightseeing and horseback riding.

Once we had our bug spray on, we enjoyed being together on the deck in the evenings.

Stier's House

  • 5 of 5

My extended family and I stayed in the Stier's house during our time in Homer. There was plenty of room for everyone, a full kitchen, and a yard for the kids to play in. With a log cabin feel (but much bigger) and incredible views, privacy, and everything we needed on site, this property is tough to beat. Would definitely rent again if we make it back to Alaska - Eileen and Connie were very helpful before and during our stay. I'd highly recommend staying with them.
