This beautiful, three-bedroom/two-bath, custom home is the perfect retreat at gorgeous Anini Beach, on Kauai's lush northern shore. It comfortably accommodates six to eight persons. 'Hale La'Au Pohaku' has a distinct oriental feel, and offers 2,300 square feet of indoor floor space, plus almost 500 square feet of covered lanais. The large great room comes with Koa wood floors, doors, and cabinets, as well as a 24-foot-high, wood-paneled, cathedral ceiling, skylights, and marble and granite finishes. There are ceiling fans in every room, along with supplemental fans in each bedroom. And there's custom lighting throughout the home. Our address is 3663 Anini Road, Kilauea and we are TVNC-4255
Luxury home extras: The front and rear lanais have a beautiful, partial ocean and mountain view, respectively. Many beautiful, original Hawaiian art quilts (made by the owner) adorn the beds and walls. The landscaping features an abundance of tropical plantings and flowers. The large master suite has a king-size bed, and a marble bathroom with twin vanities and a luxurious shower (like 5-star hotels in the Orient). There is a separate marble Jacuzzi® room with a second entrance (from the back lanai). The other two over-sized bedrooms each have direct access to separate lanais through screened doors. They each have a queen-size bed; and they share a large marble bathroom and shower. The large, fully-equipped kitchen has koa wood cabinets, granite counter-tops, and many inset and fluorescent lights. There are three dining areas, including a large dining room on the front lanai with an ocean view.
More extra features and special location info.: The home offers complementary full sized washer/dryer facilities as well as outside hot/cold shower and foot rinse.
The home is well-equipped with games, sightseeing and other books, a stereo with CD/IPOD player, a VCR/DVD with selected videos, cable TV, and complementary broadband access for wired and wireless Internet/email connections.
Directly across a quiet street is a level beach access path. In about a 75-second stroll, you can be in the water on beautiful, secluded, sandy and serene Anini Lagoon. This lovely beach is known for its double reef, making it one of the safest beaches in Hawaii for swimming and snorkeling. The soothing sound of the surf from each bedroom is a reminder of its proximity to the home. Anini Beach also features sailboarding, kite-surfing, snorkeling, fishing, charters, sea kayaking -- and a lovely park with fresh water, electricity, and pavilions for picnickers. Bird watching is great here!
A 2-person, hard-shell kayak comes with the home.
Activities : Wonderful surfing, boogie-boarding, and river kayaking are just around the point. And it's only two to three miles to the Princeville Resort area, where there are world-renowned golf courses, many shops, a supermarket, restaurants, tennis courts, helicopter rides, wagon trail rides, hiking, and biking. 2-3 miles in the other direction is Kilauea -- with its famous lighthouse, bird sanctuary, Guava Plantation, and good restaurants.
A two-person kayak is provided for free use of clients on Anini Lagoon. Excellent Bogie/skim boarding is found 3/4 mile away at Kalihiwai Beach along with fresh water swimming and kayaking in the river. Very popular surfing spot is found about 300 yards from the house just east of the Anini Reefs. Snorkeling is also excellent at Tunnels and Ke'e beachs about 7-10 miles west of Anini on the north shore. Great hiking is found on the north shore including the world famous Napali Coast hike starting at Ke'e Beach.

We actually stayed in this home in 2008 and it was the site of our wedding. Dreaming of a getaway I went searching for this home as it was beyond our expectations in every way.
The home is across a small lane to the beach access. This beach is so remarkable for how calm the water is. The trees on either side of the path created a magical aisle for me to walk down to a secluded cove where we held our ceremony with 12 guests that all stayed on the property. We had rented both homes and another great home but those guests chose to stay in this home with us because it was not just beautiful but felt like home.
I still remember every detail of the home from the stunning master bath made of marble floor to ceiling to the wonderful veranda where we held relaxing happy dinners to the massive plumeria that scented the whole home.
You will not find a better home or better hosts than Leslie and Bob in Anini. The care they showed us is beyond anything we experienced and their slice of heaven left all of us wanting to stay forever.

This was a very relaxing home and met all of our needs just fine. Much better than staying in a hotel or a resort property. It is the perfect place for families with small children, however, there are some steep steps off the deck. It was a great home and very well located to several nearby towns.
Mattresses are pretty soft and have toppers on them. Beautiful quilts that the owner has made are on the walls and the beds.
Kitchen is well stocked and it also has a nice new grill. I recommend going to the Blue Dolphin fish market and grilling fish one night for sure.
The house was great! IT was very spacious and had tons of beach toys to use (kayak, boogie boards, masks, snorkels, etc.). The beach was literally across the street, and the road is very quite after 7pm (when the sun goes down). The area is super safe, since its nothing more then a street with really nice homes on it that stretches a little over a mile.
The house it self is very nice, I wouldn't call it luxurious but it is very nice. The furniture is nice, the beds were soft (mattress toppers) but fine for me and my party. The kitchen had everything you would want or need (blenders, rice cooker, pots/pans, seasonings, bbq, everything!!!). The bathrooms were nice as well.
Our only complaint was due to the bizarre whether (never rained and no wind), which made the place pretty hot during the day. The owner and property manager addressed the issue the next day, with fans and a device to cover the sky light. The evenings, were cool so sleeping wasn't an issue, but during the day the place was hot until the sky light cover and the fans were brought.
Overall, we would return in a heart beat. The place was great and the owner/managing group addressed our issues immediately. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for an amazing place on an amazing beach on the north shore.
Walking into this beautiful tropical home made us feel as if we should be greeted with leis and a tropical drink. The skylights, beautiful Hawaiian quilts, Koa wood & marble, and tropical print furniture enhanced the feeling of "we're in Hawaii"
Each bedroom is very large and the seven of us never felt crowded.
Before arriving I had concerns that the last review was in 2012, but nearly everything was better than the photos and description the owners give. (The photo of the front of the home should be updated - as with any place that receives decent rain, the plants have grown as tall or taller than the house)
We enjoyed walking across the street for a sunrise walk on the beach before breakfast. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked, even a gourmet cook should appreciate it, but beware of the nuclear microwave.
With a baby and toddler in tow, we were grateful for the pack 'n play and highchair and appreciated the books and games, abundant sand toys, snorkels, boogie boards, and beach towels.
The owners were very helpful with all my questions and concerns.
We hope to return.
Favorite things: walking to the end of Anini beach spotting turtles, cardinals and flying fish; surf lessons at Titus Kinimaka's Surf School in Hanalei, The Garden Cafe in Kilauea for lunch, snorkeling at Ke'e, Kilauea's Saturday farmers market next to Banana Joes (try all the tropical fruit & raw honey), Pinks and the Health food store in Hanalei, Waimea Canyon, and whale watching trip to Na Pali.
This home provided a truly perfect vacation for my family and friends. Everything we needed was there: a fully equipped kitchen, lots of towels and linens, some water shoes and floatation boards and noodles for the beach, a washer and dryer. Our favorite part of every evening was relaxing on the lani, with a glass of wine, while listening to the comforting wind and rain.
The neighborhood was quiet, dark enough to see the stars, about a 15 minute drive to stores, shopping and restaurants. The beach is right across the street, a 30-second walk, just like Bob told us. It's private, good for snorkeling, or reading and walking. You might see 2 or 3 other people, but that's it. The lighthouse (a 10 minute drive) is gorgeous; we got some amazing photos.
We will definitely return to Kauai, and would definitely return to this house, if it were available. Go! You'll love it!
Anini Beach Lagoon is very protected by reefs so quite safe and great for small kids. It also has excellent snorkeling, wind surfing, fishing and kayaking. Next beach east at Kalihiwai (~1 mile) has great boogie and skim boarding and body surfing. Kalihiwai is located at river mouth for swimming to wash off salt and gorgeous rain forest kayaking. Between the beaches about 250 yards from house is excellent and locally popular surfing location.
Anini Beach is ideally located in the very middle of the north shore before the first one-lane bridge on the Kuhio Highway. This central location gives great access to Hanalei Bay, Tunnels and Ke'e Beaches and Napali Coast to the west, while still within very convenient and rapid access to mouths of Kalehewai and Kilauea Rivers and Beaches, Secret and Larsen's Beaches, Kilauea town and to the east side of Kauai for Kapa'a, Wailua River,and Lihue and further on to Poipu, Polihale Beach and Wiamea Canyon.
