If you have been looking for the perfect log cabin rental in the Hot Springs and Asheville area, YOU HAVE FOUND IT!!! Our mountain getaway is surrounded by the Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests. The French Broad River flows just below the small bluff upon which we perch overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, and you have private access to the river! (Paint Rock Cabin does NOT have an open view to the river. You can see the river in places, especially during Winter months, but we have chosen to keep hidden from the River Road traffic). We are a 6 mile, scenic, flat, straight drive along the river to the town of Hot Springs. (3 of the 6 miles along River Rd. are gravel). The drive to Asheville is an easy, 45 minutes of beautiful mountain farm land scenery. This is not a sterile vacation rental; this log cabin is filled with unique finishing touches designed to give you a true North Carolina mountain getaway experience.
Enjoy a sunny deck or a screened porch with fans as you relax in the privacy Paint Rock Cabin offers. Linens and kitchenware are provided, and well-behaved pets are welcome to enjoy the mountains. The master bedroom offers a Queen sized bed and a Jacuzzi Tub, while the downstairs room offers two daybeds with trundles that can be configured in multiple ways, including 4 twins or two kings or the kid favorite, Giant Super Bed. Terraced garden beds are landscaped with different flowers blooming throughout the growing season. A fire pit is located in the woods, and a hammock always begs for a breezy nap.
Our private access to the river includes 5 acres of shoreland where you can peacefully enjoy our calm French Broad river pool. This is the perfect location to bring your fishing rod and picnic, build a fire, and enjoy a slower pace everybody deserves. You can also easily launch a river vessel here to enjoy the casual flow of the river. Kayaks, rafts, tubes, and canoes all work well in the French Broad and make for perfect afternoon fun.
Paint Rock Cabin is THE place to enjoy the North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains. Pull out your calendar and find the time to book a truly unique and relaxing vacation cabin experience.
ADVENTURE DISCLAIMER- *****PLEASE NOTE*****: The French Broad River has flooded about 6 times in the last two years (2013 was a record flood year for this area/ NOT normal), and when it floods, River Road floods. Of course we have no control over this happening. Usually, guests can exit one of 2 back ways into Tennessee which adds an additional 45 minutes to the trip back to Asheville; however, if the river is exceptionally high, you will be flooded in both ways. Good news is the river recedes quickly, but this could mean an extra one or more unexpected days if you are already there, or it could mean you not being able to get to the cabin for check-in. We, of course, would be in touch with river gauges to notify you, but we just need to know our guests have a sense of adventure when they book our cabin! If this sounds like a nightmare to you, you probably should book something in town. We keep extra gallons of water at the cabin, wifi has never gone out during flooding, and there's a woodstove with firewood provided should it happen during the Winter along with a storm that knocks out power too! (Yes, it has happened!) We will help you rebook closer to town and apply your Paint Rock Cabin money towards a comparable rental or give you credit to come stay with us another time should flooding affect your arrival. Normal cancellation policies will apply if the road is not flooded and you simply decide not to come to Hot Springs.

Bryan & GeGe and Ava love the great outdoors and places that are not too 'developed'. Great locals here in Hot Springs and not a single red light in town.
GeGe Sinclair purchased this cabin in 2001
Awesome little town with natural hot springs, Appalachian Trail, French Broad River and convenient to Asheville.
Privacy, private river access, unlimited hiking trails just behind the cabin, dogs love it... Cabin full of personal touches- warm & inviting! No sterile rental cabin here!
We had a really great time and enjoyed your cabin. It was well stocked with all the things you needed to enjoy your stay. First night, we stayed in, cooked on the grill, played board games and watched movies. This was a much needed getaway. The cabin is far enough away from town, but close enough if you need anything. We also hiked to Lovers Leap and drove up to Max Patch. Max Patch was the best 360 degree view I have seen in awhile/ I wish we knew about the 5 mile gravel drive up, but it was well worth it. We ate at Iron Horse Station and one of the other Taverns in town- both great. Hot Springs is a cool little town. Overall, great stay."
Our family stayed in this cabin for 3 nights in July. It is located in a beautiful private area with very easy access and a scenic drive along French Broad river. Surrounded by woods there is no shortage of trails to hike. Our young children enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, climbing, building a fire and swimming in a nearby creek. The historic town of Hot Springs is only a few minutes away, with places to get a hearty meal, coffee or ice cream. The historic downtown Marshall is another gem worth driving 20 minutes for. We also enjoyed a very scenic drive on HWY 25/70 to Del Rio, TN to Strange Honey Farm. No tours are allowed but you can buy local mountain honey and handmade honey products at wholesale prices.
The cabin was clean, very functional and well stocked. Our family enjoyed spending time together cooking and reading. The owners had a wonderful selection of music CDs and kids had fun dancing around. A screened balcony was the perfect place to enjoy meals as a family.
Overall, it was a beautiful, very relaxing and peaceful place. We fell in love with the area and plan on coming back.
Our family was delighted to stay in this quiet, cozy cabin nestled near the French Broad river. The home is extremely clean and well-maintained, the scenery surrounding the cabin is beautiful, and the location is perfect for quick access to the river and hiking trails. Before our arrival, the owners provided detailed driving instructions and information about the area, which helped us have a very special trip! We most enjoyed tubing down the river (we bought tubes from Bluff Mountain Outfitters in Hot Springs), spending time together on the screened-in porch, and hiking to a lookout spot around Paint Rock. Great trip and wonderful cabin!
The cabin was most comfortable and we enjoyed it very much.
This is a quiet, secluded (but not far from town), well maintained cottage in a mountainous river wonderland. It is in close proximity to river access for swimming, tubing and fishing and is surrounded by scenic national forest areas. It is comfortable, clean and creatively decorated. Loved the large screened in back deck. Would love to stay here again sometime.
Paint Rock Cabin was amazing! We had a wonderful girls weekend away from our kids and we laughed and talked and hiked and ate and never put on any makeup! The cabin is well equipped for making meals, comfortable to sit inside or on the screened porch or outside in a hammock or by the fire. Everyone will be happy staying at this cabin. The bed upstairs was more comfortable than my bed at home. We never had to use the heat or the air conditioning - it was perfect weather. It was very quiet and beautiful and we saw a big black snake sunning itself one day. We walked the quiet dirt road next to the river for peaceful morning chats. We hiked up the steep hike where the hieroglyphs are. That was the most beautiful view! Having the cabin be dog friendly was great too. One of my friends brought her dog and we were all happy he was there. We think we want to make this a yearly trip to catch up with one another since we are scattered in different cities raising our families. I highly recommend this lovely, homey, comfortable, well-equipped cabin to anyone who wants some peace and quiet and nature!
Our stay in this cabin was spectacular. The owners take care of their space and make it comfy for their guests. We had everything we needed and the view of the French Broad River is amazing. The fire pit outside and the fire place inside are warm and cozy. Firewood was provided and ready to use. The kitchen is fully stocked and it was nice that it had coffee and all the things we needed to cook up a meal. The space is close to town but feels far away. Perfect get away. We will definitely return.
Hiking on AT which runs directly through town of Hot Springs, mineral bath soak at Hot Springs Spa, located in pristine Paint Rock Corridor offering swimming holes, fishing pond, stocked trout fishing, unlimited hiking in Cherokee National Forest.
WHERE ARE WE IN RELATION TO DOWNTOWN HOT SPRINGS? We are on the 'Marshall/Weaverville' side of the Hot Springs bridge- turn AT THE FRENCH BROAD RIVER BRIDGE onto RIVER ROAD and find us 6 miles downriver.
Downtown Hot Springs to Paint Rock Cabin is 6 miles downriver and will take you 10 minutes to drive. The drive is 3 miles of pavement and 3 miles of gravel through the protected bio-diverse section of River Rd. This is a flat, straight (a few slight curves) and scenic drive that follows the French Broad River downriver into TN. You will see our cabin sign on the right side of River Rd at the 6-mile point. Our shared river-access land is 1/4 mile beyond our driveway at the red park-like gate marked River Road Retreat Homeowners Association (on the left side of River Road). You are free to walk in or drive your car in with our gate access code and utilize the pavilion, fire circle, and outhouse there.
