Overview

Ternes Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Events of September 11th and United's bankruptcy caused me to take an extended (five-year) furlough from United Airlines' Paris base so I went home to San Diego and started renting my Paris apartment. That was the beginning of my vacation rental business and I never returned to United but I do return to Paris!

This 650 square foot one-bedroom apartment has the privacy of two bedrooms at the cost of a Studio apartment! The living room door closes; and occupants of each room have access to the toilet, bathroom, and kitchen without disturbing the others (important for when you first arrive and jet-lag makes for irregular sleeping hours).

There are extra long twin beds in the bedroom and a very comfortable, double-size, fold-down couch in the living room. (that's where my husband and I always sleep). The bathroom has a big soaking tub and a shower. Like all Paris apartments, the WC is separate from the bathroom so if anyone is taking a long shower or bath, others can still use the toilet.

This fifth-floor condo apartment has a modern elevator big enough for several people and their luggage! The all-glass living room wall opens wide onto a private balcony overlooking center gardens. It sits way off the main street so it's a very quiet location!

The Paris Apartment: There is absolutely no city noise.

The apartment is light and sunny -- with a view of lovely Victorian buildings. There is lot of closet space (rare in Paris) to keep the apartment orderly. There is a full-sized washer and dryer for doing laundry so pack light!

Everything you'll need to cook your own gourmet meals is provided. 'Go French' -- and get fresh food at nearby 'Poncelet', one of the largest daily outdoor markets in Paris. Or if you prefer a US-style grocery store (with peanut butter, cereal, etc.), Galleries Gourmand is also nearby.

My quiet, nicely furnished apartment has everything you'll need for a comfortable vacation, including an extensive library of guide books and maps of the city, metro, and bus system as well as books on culture, language and fiction/non-fiction books centered on France.

The Local Neighborhood: Enjoy an excellent neighborhood and a prestige apartment building on safe, upscale Avenue des Ternes -- close to lots of shops, bakeries, grocery stores and restaurants. Get fresh croissants and baguettes at the excellent boulangerie just down the street. Owner is American with French pastry-chef husband. Shop at Poncillet outdoor market, daily like the French, for fresh fruits and veggies, seafood, roasted or fresh chickens. I provide wheeled grocery carts.

This apartment is conveniently located within five minutes' walking distance of the Arc de Triomphe Charles de Gaulle Metro station -- where metro lines #1, #2, #6, and the RER-A will whisk you quickly to anywhere in the city.

Metro line 1 is the main tourist line, #2 will take you up to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur, #6 goes directly to the Eiffel Tower in two stops/4 nimutes.

RER-A's first stop is the Opera House Garnier.

Nearby Port Maillot has RER-C to go directly to Versailles.

Bus route 43 stops right in front of the apartment and will take you to my favorite, Musee Andre-Jacquemart. The 92 route is just a short walk.

About Nancy's Vacation Rentals

I was based in Paris working as a Purser/Flight Attendant for United Airlines for 5 years. After 9/11 I took a voluntary furlough and came back to San Diego and started renting out my Paris apartment to vacationers. It was such fun interacting with people, especially those going to experience Paris for the very 1st time! But I enjoy talking to the most seasoned Francofiles, too. I was hooked and started my own Vacation Rental business in San Diego - NancysVacationRentals dot com. Now I have 50 rentals but still take the time to return to Paris once a year to 'check on my property.' Someone has to do it! I'm happy to share my local knowledge with you.

Nancy's Vacation Rentals purchased this apartment in 1998

Why Nancy's Vacation Rentals chose 17th Arrondissement Batignolles-Monceau

Describe why I bought a place in Paris? Are you kidding? It's the most beautiful city in the world and you would NEVER run out of things to see and do! Plus it's so fun to explore other parts of France after a week in Paris.

What makes this apartment unique

This is a very quiet apartment in the middle of a bustling city. It's a great location near the Arc de Triomphe and allows you to experience Paris as a local rather than as a tourist

Guestbook Comment

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Nancy's place in Paris. My wife and I were in the bedroom and our oversized 15 year old was on the futon couch--all beds were quite comfy. We started each day early and returned back exhausted by 6 in the evening. We brought our favorite coffee and made a full breakfast in house, had lunches out and luxuriated in some sinful gourmet food items and the best french bread(imagine that!)picked up in the local shops for light dinners (we really couldn't handle the late dinner time in Paris). With the weak

dollar, Nancy's place was a godsend considering the price and size of european hotel rooms. The place is equipped with everything you might need, though I do recommend you bring the latest guidebook with you as those available in the apartment are dated. Overall, not a glamorous place, but incredibly practical and a true bargain for the budget conscious. I enjoy upscale stays too, however those interested in glamorous will be spending much, much more.

Location, amenities, A++ proprietress = what's not to love?

  • 5 of 5

I feel so fortunate to have "stumbled" upon this property online -- I was about to put in a reservation via AirBnB but I am certain I made the better choice. Nancy was so helpful from beginning to end, facilitating immediate payment by phone for our arrival within two days, sending crystal-clear instruction for apartment access as well as advice on transportation from the airport, directions and where to go shopping and which mass transit options to take nearby. So I couldn't be happier with Nancy's services. The apartment itself is delightful -- clean, bright, airy, well-maintained, safe (secure building), well appointed (full kitchen, plenty of dishes and cookware, even a full-sized washer and dryer!), great balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard, and comfy beds. It is perfectly located, with many walking options and easy access to the Metro (we chose weekly Metro cards for 20 Euro per Sunday-Saturday, well worth it if you plan to move around a lot). There was ample space and privacy for my family (me + wife + 2 teens) in the apartment. I highly recommend this apartment!

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice time staying in this Paris apartment for four nights. The owner/agency provided excellent instructions, recommendations and follow up which made locating the apartment, checking in and out very easy (very professional). The unit was just as described in the listing and the owner provided all linens and laundry detergent as well. The apartment is an easy downhill walk from the Arc de Triomphe and the neighborhood was excellent with many nice specialty stores and restaurants within a block as well as a nice little grocery store (Fanprix) around the corner. It is the perfect location for sightseeing, close to Metro and RER stations. After visiting many parts of Paris, we had more of appreciation for the family oriented area where the apartment is located as we always felt safe there.

Awesome Location and Wonderful Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This was my first experience with VBRO and I could not have chosen a better person to have dealt with. Nancy was great!! We spoke before I arrived in Paris and she shared great information. She was even gracious enough to push my arrival date because of an issue with our flight arriving in Paris. Once my daughter and I arrived at the apartment, there was this great binder of information. Not only excellent information regarding surrounding markets and shops; but, helpful numbers in case of an emergency and taxi, etc. As small of a gesture as it was, it eased my nerves when I blew a circuit and had to make that call. This location was extremely convenient to the Metro, bus, and walking to Champs Elysees. It was nice to have all of the necessities that you would have in your own home. I would definitely rent this apartment from Nancy should I come to Paris again.

A Welcoming Oasis in Paris

  • 5 of 5

We had a 12 night stay in Paris at the end of a 4 week cruise and Battlefields tour and found the apartment most welcoming. Directions and information on transport to the apartment were spot on. Little things like basic condiments, real coffee, cling wrap, foil and paper towel; umbrellas, torches, reams of information, free wi-fi and international phone calls that all worked were so very welcome. The location (7 minutes walk to Arc de Triomphe and Charles de Gaulle metro) made daily forays an easy start. We made full use of the comprehensive information regarding supermarkets, restaurants, day trips and things to see and do. Thank you Nancy for making exploring Paris such a delight and should we return, we will most certainly be in contact. Peter and Sue - Australia

Paris Apartment

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I had a wonderful stay in Paris. The apartment was just as we were told in VRBO and was a great location. It was so quiet and relaxing after sightseeing all day. We did use the Metro to travel all over the city and only used taxis occasionally. We took advantage of all the great shops and cafes close to the apartment, met locals and generally just felt like we were part of the neighborhood. Our scheduled departure was early Nov. 14 and we were not sure about leaving because of the terror attacks the night before. Nancy was so helpful during this stressful time and assured us we had a place to stay if we couldn't. We did fly out that morning but will certainly return to Paris and the apartment as soon as possible.
