Enjoy this classic farmhouse as a weekend getaway from the hustle & bustle of the city. Or spend an entire vacation here, taking in the charm of old-fashion country living.
At Milky Way Farm you can enjoy vacation getaways, romantic escapes, and retreats. It is perfect for small weddings, family get-togethers, reunions, honeymoons and meetings.
The Milky Way Farm was homesteaded before Washington became a state. It has historically been a working dairy, and as the owners since 1982, we still keep dairy cows.
Spend private time sitting by the pond, listening to the melodic sounds from the stream as it gently passes the Guest House, enjoying the country scenery from the wrap around porch, or reading one of the many books from our well-stocked library.
Just a short trip from the city, yet a world away from daily stress.
This was our families second time staying at The Milky Way Farm and we hope it is not our last. Once again, we were there as an extended family group. We love everything about being at the farm. The spacious, beautiful living quarters inside and out, the garden full of produce, picnic table in the apple tree grove to eat meals under. Too much to list. Very well equipped country kitchen with farm fresh eggs, milk, and bread upon your arrival. The authenticity of this farm is matched by the owners. You'll wish you could move next door and never leave this special place and people.
We just returned from a few days' stay here for a family reunion. Our group turned out to be a bit larger than we expected, which did give the owners some concern initially. However, between the five bedrooms, the sleeper sofa on the *large* covered porch, and a bit of floor space for air mattresses for the kids, it worked out fabulously.
It's a beautiful setting, with easy access to many local points of interest and quaint, small towns and sights. Nearby, you have options for shopping, eating and sightseeing. Quick, easy access to historic towns such as Port Gamble or even Port Townsend. In season, there's a Saturday Market at the Kingston Marina. There are probably others in the area as well.
The farmhouse itself is a work of master craftsmanship. Much (all?) of the woodwork was custom built, right down to thick fir and mahogany counters in the kitchen and bathrooms. Two of the three bathrooms have claw-foot tubs. There are numerous areas to sit and visit, read a book from the well-stocked 'book wall' or watch TV.
While you'll obviously need to bring your own food, the cupboards are well stocked with spices, seasonings and condiments. They have virtually any utensil or small appliance you'll need, including a coffee maker and a fully functional hand-crank coffee grinder. Not to worry, however; they provide an electric one as well. Just outside the kitchen door on the covered porch, you'll also find a large, modern gas grill.
You seriously won't need to bring anything but yourselves and some food.
There's only one caveat I'd add for those who feel the need to be 'connected'. Mobile coverage is very iffy. They do have WiFi, but it works best when you're near the wireless router in the kitchen, or on the back porch.
The owners have done great job fixing up this beautiful old house. They maintained the farmhouse feel but updated major things like heating and plumbing. The interior has been renovated and decorated very tastefully. We had a blast playing games with the kids in the yard and watching the big trout. We hope to come back regularly.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay at the farmhouse! Cinda greeted us and showed us around while sharing the history of the farm. The kitchen is equipped with absolutely everything you would need and there were farm-fresh eggs, bread and butter, juices and milk waiting for us in the refrigerator. The wraparound porch was a perfect place to savor a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. The dogs were able to run free and explore and they had a ball. I could go on, but it is a place you need to discover for yourself. I highly recommend this property and look forward to our next visit!
We were so glad to find The Milky Way Farm, when looking for our dream vacation. This is the first time I was able to bring my children to Washington, which is where I grew up. I could not have found a more perfect place. It was everything I could have hoped for. Great location, we popped over to Seattle for the day and then went to the Olympic National Forest another day. The best part was the wonderful home with a beautiful porch, I loved the porch swing and the rocking chairs. The view was like something out of a movie. The rolling farm land and the beautiful trees and the orchards, the animals grazing in the pastures, made it feel like I had traveled back in time. The beautifully cared for farmhouse was wonderful. I loved the wood craftsmanship. The beds were very comfortable and the home was very clean. This home is the perfect blend of modern conveniences and antique beauty. We had space for all our family to visit and be together. The cousins all got to play together and share this amazing experience. We took the kids to the beach within walking distance and tromped around the forest, fed the rainbow trout in the pond, picked black berries and ate cherries off the tree, fed the chickens and got fresh eggs for breakfast, the kids got to ride the horses and help with farm chores. We can’t wait to go back. My kids said that it was their favorite place in all world. Cinda and Erv were so kind and wonderful. I will always be grateful they decided to share their little bit of paradise with us.
Great farmhouse with 5 bedrooms is a wonderful place for a large extended family to stay. We found the place well stocked with little touches like condiments and staples already in the kitchen, and the farm fresh eggs were a nice touch. It also had a cozy family room with a great collection of books and games for the kids.
Our farm is minutes away from the Olympic Peninsula. The Olympic National Park is two hours away. All forms of outdoor activities are available on the peninsula.
