Enjoy this classic farmhouse as a weekend getaway from the hustle & bustle of the city. Or spend an entire vacation here, taking in the charm of old-fashion country living.
At Milky Way Farm you can enjoy vacation getaways, romantic escapes, and retreats. It is perfect for small weddings, family get-togethers, reunions, honeymoons and meetings.
The Milky Way Farm was homesteaded before Washington became a state. It has historically been a working dairy, and as the owners since 1982, we still keep dairy cows.
Spend private time sitting by the pond, listening to the melodic sounds from the stream as it gently passes the Guest House, enjoying the country scenery from the wrap around porch, or reading one of the many books from our well-stocked library.
Just a short trip from the city, yet a world away from daily stress.
We wanted a gathering place for Christmas this year. Milky Way Farm was the perfect fit. Not only did we have room for all of us under one roof but we could have our furry members of our family too. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen I have ever rented. Cyndi and Irv had every kitchen gadget, spices and dinnerware for all of us. Irv even cleaned up the old stove in the kitchen so that we could make lefsa like our Great Grandmother did. What a great experience and the lefsa was yummy too.
The house was really close to Point No Point where the family took a few walks to work off the Christmas cooking. Beautiful day on a great beach.
We would love to come back in the summer to experience the farm in a different season. I could only imagine what the grounds and beautiful porch would be like!
Thank you for a very memorable Christmas!
This was our first visit to Milky Way Farm Guest House and we found it to be the perfect place for making wonderful family memories! Our extended family of 11 (6 adults and 5 children, 5 years and under) spent 6 delightful days here enjoying farm life and exploring the gorgeous Kitsap Peninsula. The owners were very kind and helpful. The old farmhouse itself is a treasure...even more lovely than the photos on the website show, and with picture perfect views out every window. The house was clean, beautifully decorated, and well stocked with everything we needed. Each day for us started and ended on the large back porch, sitting in the swing or rockers, with coffee in hand, while we visited and watched kids and grandkids play out under the orchard trees and the cows graze in the pasture just beyond. The owners treated us to farm fresh eggs, and invited us to pick pears and plums from the fruit trees. Out front there was an old glider swing to play on and a little pond and stream to explore. Needless to say, our kids never wanted to leave the farm! Truly, Milky Way Farm is a child's heaven and an adult's oasis!
Away from the farm, we enjoyed a family wedding at beautiful Kitsap Memorial State Park. We also visited Point No Point Lighthouse, where we explored the beach and watched a whale playing just off shore. On another outing, we took a ferry boat ride to Edmonds, ate fish and chips at Spud Fish & Chips, and then stopped and had ice cream at Mora's Iced Creamery in Kingston.
This vacation will go in the books as one of our all time family favorites and Milky Way Farm will be a huge reason why! Can't wait to return!
My extended family just enjoyed a delightful 4 day stay at Milky Way Farm. All of us hated for it to end. My delight began as soon as I walked through the door of this authentic but beautifully updated farmhouse. It brought back so many memories of my visits to grandpa's farm. And the huge back porch proved the perfect place for our morning rendezvous and evening of fun.
During the day we explored the beach and swam in the nearby lake. We need to go back to explore the trails because we ran out of time for all there is to do. everyone--5 months through...Nana---had a great time.
This was our families second time staying at The Milky Way Farm and we hope it is not our last. Once again, we were there as an extended family group. We love everything about being at the farm. The spacious, beautiful living quarters inside and out, the garden full of produce, picnic table in the apple tree grove to eat meals under. Too much to list. Very well equipped country kitchen with farm fresh eggs, milk, and bread upon your arrival. The authenticity of this farm is matched by the owners. You'll wish you could move next door and never leave this special place and people.
We just returned from a few days' stay here for a family reunion. Our group turned out to be a bit larger than we expected, which did give the owners some concern initially. However, between the five bedrooms, the sleeper sofa on the *large* covered porch, and a bit of floor space for air mattresses for the kids, it worked out fabulously.
It's a beautiful setting, with easy access to many local points of interest and quaint, small towns and sights. Nearby, you have options for shopping, eating and sightseeing. Quick, easy access to historic towns such as Port Gamble or even Port Townsend. In season, there's a Saturday Market at the Kingston Marina. There are probably others in the area as well.
The farmhouse itself is a work of master craftsmanship. Much (all?) of the woodwork was custom built, right down to thick fir and mahogany counters in the kitchen and bathrooms. Two of the three bathrooms have claw-foot tubs. There are numerous areas to sit and visit, read a book from the well-stocked 'book wall' or watch TV.
While you'll obviously need to bring your own food, the cupboards are well stocked with spices, seasonings and condiments. They have virtually any utensil or small appliance you'll need, including a coffee maker and a fully functional hand-crank coffee grinder. Not to worry, however; they provide an electric one as well. Just outside the kitchen door on the covered porch, you'll also find a large, modern gas grill.
You seriously won't need to bring anything but yourselves and some food.
There's only one caveat I'd add for those who feel the need to be 'connected'. Mobile coverage is very iffy. They do have WiFi, but it works best when you're near the wireless router in the kitchen, or on the back porch.
The owners have done great job fixing up this beautiful old house. They maintained the farmhouse feel but updated major things like heating and plumbing. The interior has been renovated and decorated very tastefully. We had a blast playing games with the kids in the yard and watching the big trout. We hope to come back regularly.
Our farm is minutes away from the Olympic Peninsula. The Olympic National Park is two hours away. All forms of outdoor activities are available on the peninsula.
