A Paradisiacal Refuge

  • 5 of 5

Make your reservation, pack your bags and leave your cares behind for this breathtaking refuge. A week won`t be enough to enjoy the spectacular setting of this location and the exceptional service you will receive from your unfailing and exceptional host Wolfgang. Our initial plans included daily outings to the nearby villages, towns and cities. You could do the same but, don`t be surprised if you are lulled by the magic of this awe-inspiring place into doing nothing at all but gaze at the views and sunsets. There really aren't enough superlatives to describe the beauty to be found here, it is a gorgeous setting and the design of the property itself is amazing, a real labour of love.

Everything is as described and pictured. Our unit, Studio 1, was very comfortable, well equipped, clean and well maintained. It has a nicely outfitted kitchen (especially loved having sharp knives), a comfortable dining area overlooking the gardens, a large walk-through shower, a generous sized bedroom (and comfy bed) with ample storage and an expansive outdoor area that includes both shaded and full sun options. The magnificent views present themselves from every corner.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, a couple within walking distance and beaches within easy reach as well. Wolfgang`s recommendations are spot on and he has a treasure trove of useful and well-informed suggestions on practical matters, day/evening excursions and how to make the most of your holiday.

We chose to spend most of our early mornings sipping coffee and watching the local fishermen heading out across the sea in search of their daily catch or spying on the divers just below us on their aquatic adventures. We did take a few very enjoyable jaunts to some of the lovely local towns and villages that dot the coastline and mountains inland. Siestas are recommended by Wolfgang (smart man) and we happily indulged ourselves in this local custom, usually after a refreshing swim in the pool. Our siestas were often followed by a glass of ice-cold Cava and some tasty and freshly prepared tapas pulled together from our daily market finds.

You won't be disappointed, you'll have everything you need and more and Wolfgang will be there to assist you with a ready solution to any problem you may encounter. Your only challenge will be in deciding on whether or not you want to leave this perfect bliss and go elsewhere for a few hours.

Thank you Wolfgang; we'll be back for another sunset or two....

An unforgettable week in paradise

  • 5 of 5

After spending four wonderful days in bustling Barcelona, my husband and I set out for Refugio Cerro Gordo for a week of relaxation. The stunning property is set upon a hilltop overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. Our week in paradise began as Wolfgang welcomed us with a delicious array of tapas in his beautiful home. We stayed in Studio 1, which has a private entrance, a private terrace with a dining table, and incredible views of the Mediterranean. We loved our romantic apartment, which was nicely appointed and had a fabulous glass enclosed shower. We could see the sea from every corner. Wolfgang is an attentive and enthusiastic host and is committed to making your stay the best it can be. We very much enjoyed our conversations with him, and appreciated his extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and its history. My husband and I joke that he is "the MOST interesting man in the world". He entertained us with many fascinating stories and a German poetry recital. Wolfgang offered spot-on recommendations for restaurants, nearby excursions, and local shopping. Our favorite excursions including hiking from Playa El Cañuelo to Playa de Cantarrijan, where we then enjoyed tapas and icy cold cerveza at La Bolla Marina, an afternoon in the white village of Frigiliana, and a day trip to Granada. Having only a week, we did not want to schedule too much time away from this beautiful place. I highly recommend Refugio Cerro Gordo to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in one of the most beautiful places on earth! Thank you Wolfgang - we will return!

The Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We visited the Refugio in Aug 2008 after visiting Granada and found it the perfect retreat for a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Upon arrival, the owner made us feel immediately welcome and showed us to our suitably equipped apartment which was spacious and bright.

The location of the property is high in the mountains of the Cerro Gordo National Park so a car is essential and benefits from spectaular views of the surrouding areas such as the mountains, coastline and beaches.

This property is highly recommended and is the perfect location for a truly relaxing retreat and the fantastic pool and many terraces make it an ideal place to escape to the Costa Tropical to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

So whenever pure nature, stunning views combined with absolute silence is a desire, guests are welcome at Refugio Cerro Gordo. They will enjoy the unique location at the southern spanish coastline.

Unglaublich aber wahr

  • 5 of 5

Refugio... Eine Oase !

  • 5 of 5
