Hello, my wife and I have travelled with our children to various islands in the Caribbean, but we felt most at home on Grand Bahama Island. I have a contracting company in Ontario Canada and had been searching for the right property on which to build our vacation home.
Lesley/Alison purchased this House in 2003
Why Lesley/Alison chose East Grand Bahama
The Goodfellow family has vacationed on Grand Bahama for more than 15 years and enjoyed the area and local people so much that we built a home on Pelican Point in the late 1990's. The demands of the construction industry in Canada kept the Goodfellow family in the North a great deal of time and we decided to try share our vacation home by renting it out when not in residence. This proved successful and when we decided to build a larger home, we looked for the best beach we could find on the island of Grand Bahama. We located a large lot on Golden Beach and in 2003 completed work on this current home near Freetown.
What makes this House unique
From the spacious luxury of the interior to the whisper of the ocean out in front, this feels like our little slice of heaven on earth. It's a great place for a family get-together or a small wedding and we can recommend photographers, etc.

Everything was absolutely perfect! My family and I had the absolute best time. From the beautiful, private beach to the spacious house we couldn't have imagined the property any better. From the moment we booked the house the owners made everything so easy to ensure we had a great stay.
If you are looking for a relaxing trip with friends and family, this is definitely where you should stay!!
We are so happy that you had such a great time with your family and friends. We really love our bit of paradise too. We hope that you can come and stay again.
This is our 2nd stay here and both times were amazing! This house is the perfect place to get away, relax and have a good time. Everyone is super friendly and very welcoming! If you wanna get away from it all, this is the place. The private beach is great and has a great sand bar at low tide that is just picturesque, can’t be beat! We have recommended this place to many friends and will continue to do so! We will be back!
Beach is amazing, just like the pictures. Reef about 100’ off shore with angle fish and parrot fish. We had visits by rays each day at high tide. House is beautiful, each of the five bedrooms has its own bathroom. Set up is great, go from pier or airport to grocery store and then Grand Bahama highway to the house. Very easy.
Hey thanks for the details about the reef! We are at the house for a visit now and are going snorkelling tomorrow to check it out - so exciting!
(We have lots of family with us and really love the privacy the bedroom suites also.)
My wife and I recently returned from taking our family on a week long vacation here and what an experience it was. We weren't sure what to expect having never vacationed here before but the Goodfellow's were very great to deal with. From the initial contact we had to the end, I cant think of one detail which was left out. The directions from airport to the house were excellent considering we had never been to the island before, facing the challenge of driving on the wrong side (left) of the road and it was roughly 35 mins away.
Patricia met us at the home and gave us a very thorough rundown of things and even mentioned the Conch Cracking Festival they had going on in Mcleans Town that Monday. That was very interesting to take in!! My family and I felt like we definitely got a piece of Bahamian culture there which we will never forget. I would also highly recommend a kayak tour through Lucayan National Park and Paradise Cover. The snorkeling we did there is some of the best I have ever done!! Although the home is a good distance away the activities in Freeport , no one really minded just hanging on the beach all day and taking in the million dollar views and having the beach to ourselves....we only saw 2 people all week, Bob and his dog Cookie. It was definitely a week my family and I will never forget!!
The only thing I will reiterate from the reviews I read prior to going is take bug spray. They are really bad at night.
Hi! We are so glad you got the full Grand Bahama experience and truly enjoyed your time. Thank you so much for taking the time to write us! Yes, tropical locales do have sand flies, mostly just at dawn or dusk, so we have screened in two porches so you can still enjoy the outdoors at those times. We also leave bug spray for our guests in the closet, for those who are sensitive.
That's great that you were able to go to McLean's Town! It is one of our favourites and we really enjoy a private buffet supplied by one of the locals there. Sounds like you had a really great time. We'd love to have you come back again; and take advantage of our special repeat guest discount.
Everything you could want and more!
This is one of the most amazing places we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Please couples... it was just 2 of us and it was perfect.
Highly recommend and everyone associated with the rental were amazing.
K & S
Beautiful home in a beautiful area. Quit and secluded perfect for families or adults.
The overall experience was excellent. The only reason for the four and not five stars was the forest fire that drove us to leave the beech by the house and explore elsewhere. The east end of the island offered even a better beech experience than the house. The house is well and tastefully built very spacious and we felt very comfortable with 8 adults and one child.
If you go bring your own snorkeling gear.
We really enjoyed our trip both due to the house and warmth of her people.
