4 Upper Fisher Row, Oxford, is a lovely terraced cottage in the heart of Historic Oxford, famed for its University and Dreaming Spires. The property is perfect for short lets, and longer stays by negotiation. I also own another property in the Jericho area sleeping 5, also very central so do enquire.
It is situated on a no-through road, off Hythe Bridge Street in the City centre, and everything of interest is within walking distance, including the University and its museums and libraries, the canal and the University Parks and Botanical Gardens. Oxford has a historic Covered market and an open air market which is held twice a week within 5 minutes of this house. No parking available unless very special circumstances as limited visitor permits.
There are 2 double bedrooms, with 4'6' beds each, and one twin room that can also sleep 3 as there is a spare trundle single bed under one of the beds. There is also a separate single room. The sofa bed in the living room is great for emergency extras also subject to surcharge. There is a bathroom with shower over on the first floor and a shower room on the ground floor as well, both with WC.
Castle Mill stream, a tributary of the River Thames flows in front of the house and also the 'cut' of the canal where narrow boats moor up, and to the rear is a stream, which is at the bottom of the garden. If you type the postcode (OX1 2EZ) into googlemaps 'my street view' you can see the area in detail and will recognise the view. It will also demonstrate how convenient the location is for the town centre, station and all amenities.
There are restaurants in Oxford serving food from around the world (Thai, Indian, Chinese, French, Italian, Mexican etc.) and to suit all price ranges, from bistros to Raymond Blanc's Brasserie, and Quod in the Old Bank Hotel. You can walk to one of 3 punting stations, ie the charming Cherwell Boathouse restaurant where, in the summer, students and visitors alike hire punts to drift up the Cherwell river, (Cherwell to rhyme with Harwell); Folly Bridge and also Magdalen bridge have punting hire points.
Blenheim Palace and Historic Woodstock can be reached by bus easily from the town centre, and Stratford-upon-Avon is an hour in a car. There are car rental companies fairly centrally located, in Osney Mead.
London is only an hour on a direct train service and the station is less than a 5 minute walk from the front door. Oxford boasts classical music concerts, theatre at the Playhouse and the New Theatre as well as the Literary Festival held in the spring and Art weeks held in May where local resident artists hold open studio sessions.
We hope you have a wonderful stay in this beautiful city, and can give any help and advice on things to see and getting around.
Babysitting may be arranged.
Arrive after 4.00pm on day of arrival, and departure by 10.30am please.

We rented the house for a 9-day stay in Oxford. It was in a perfect location to reach anything and everything we needed. The train station is a short walk and the town center as well. We had no issues whatsoever with the house. Pandora was in touch for any of our needs and for giving advice. Truly, we couldn't have had a better location for our group. We hope to stay again when we return to sing in Oxford. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home Pandora!
Had a very comfy and cosy stay in upper fisher row in Oxford. Property was a decent size for 7 adults, with room for all in the seating area and in the dining area. The galley kitchen got a little crowded at times but was functional and we were well able to cook decent meals with the equipment provided. The location is good for walking into the town centre and for access to the train station. A shame about the lack of parking but the park and ride really does work very well and is reasonably priced. We also found that dropping luggage off from the car and then driving to the park and ride to then get the bus back was straightforward enough.
This is the perfect place to stay for an easy visit to Oxford. The location couldn't be more convenient for travel and sightseeing. The house is nicely decorated and very livable. We were four adults and three children, and we had plenty of room and two bathrooms.
The price was a good bargain. One big plus was the very helpful, friendly and accommodating landlord whose written materials were extensive and very useful. We'd go back in a minute!
We had a delightful stay in this house on Upper Fisher Row. The location is superb, a short walk away from the train and bus stations and from Carfax, but the street itself borders on the canal, and the main bedroom has a lovely view of it. We are a family of five, and were very comfortable. The owner was extremely accommodating and flexible, and very responsible when we had a couple of mechanical problems. We would gladly stay there again.
This house was a wonderful place to stay during our visit to Oxford. The house was larger than expected, clean, comfortable, and walking distance to everything. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 young children and had plenty of space. The owner was very sweet and helpful when we were planning our trip and during our stay. We highly recommend this property and will stay there again should we ever get a chance to go back to Oxford.
This propery was even better than we expected and in a fabulous location so that no one missed having their car. It was a home away from home and had everything we needed. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and her local knowledge made booking restaurants and organising a birthday cake very easy. I would recommend the Ashmolean Museum, the Anchor pub and the Oxon Carts rickshaw tours. We will be back.
Finding a home away from home in the centre of Oxford is rare indeed, and this is one such house. You can walk to all the university colleges and departments as well as to the Museums and theatres. Depending on the time of year of your visit, there is a literary festival, folk music, much live music, university performances, in theatres and on the River Thames.
There are markets on Gloucester Green on Wednesday and Thursday every week, and that is about 200 yards from this property, as are the Rail and Bus stations making a car unnecessary. Little needs to be said about the attractions of Oxford's Dreaming Spires, and there are great places to eat out (independent restaurants and pubs which I recommend) and lovely places to walk, such as Port Meadow and the University Parks, or Christ Church Meadows.
