About Sally L Godard

Your hosts are Ron and Sally. We've raised our three children here since 1988, and they're now all young adults.

We're not yet retired, but able to do some of our work from home. We're friendly, casual introverts. It has been great to meet a wonderful variety of people from all over the country.

Why Sally L Godard chose Willamette Valley Oregon

Sally is a native Oregonian. She lived in Portland during her young adulthood, and hoped to raise the children in a more rural area.

McMinnville (pop. 33,000) has been perfect. And the countryside is beautiful!

One of our friends dubbed our place Low Heaven Farm. It stuck -- and we have to agree that it IS 'heaven on earth.' Three large black walnut trees frame the house, and we added evergreen trees to bring some winter color.

What makes this apartment unique

We love our country living, while still being close to town. Have a busy day, then return to relax.

Sally continues to expand the orchard -- it now has 34 varieties of apples, 8 plums, 5 pears, 4 cherries. Ron relishes his time on the tractor, and he just added 24 solar panels so the apartment's electricity needs are now supplied by solar energy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for another great stay! Enjoyed the garden and tree house. We didn't bring the sun with us this trip, but enjoyed the sun breaks. Will re-schedule our cancelled fishing trip and return to your paradise soon.

Lovely place

  • 5 of 5

One of the nicest VRBO rentals I've stayed in. The property is exactly as described -- if anything, it's a little bigger than it looks in the photos. Bright, well equipped, comfortable, and absolutely spotless. The views of the garden and the farm are beautiful. The location feels rural although it's only a few minutes' drive from shops and restaurants. The owners are thoughtful and respectful. Recommended without hesitation.

A little piece of Eden

  • 5 of 5

Sally and Ron,

Thank you for sharing your lovely little piece of heaven with us. Our 12 day stay was so peaceful and relaxing – the gardens were simply beautiful. The tree house was a real treat for us in the afternoon. The animals and birds helped make each day interesting and relaxing. The living accommodations were just so homey and comfortable we didn’t want to leave your little piece of heaven. But we did from time to time to explore McMinnville and the beautiful countryside. Thank you again for helping to make our anniversary special. When we return to visit the area, we would hope to be able to stay once again at “Low Heaven Farm”.

Better late than ever review!

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed this great property. Very private, quiet, and the breakfast foods provided made our days very relaxed. Enjoyed meeting Ron, however, never got to meet Sally. The animals were great. Pretty light rain came one am providing a lovely backdrop. A great location for wine tasting. Ron recommended some restaurants close by which we enjoyed. Don't hesitate and stay here. Thanks so much.

Delightful Visit

  • 5 of 5

We had the most enjoyable week long stay at this VRBO! The hospitality could not have been better--the breakfast treats were incredible, and the whole experience was one we hope to repeat often when we visit our son and his family in McMinnville. Our granddaughter squealed with laughter seeing the goats and alpacas and loved picking an apple off a tree. She was a little young to experience the tree house, but we have truly never seen anything like it and I'm sure she'll enjoy exploring it in years to come! We loved watching the birds outside our window, the fresh flowers which Sally provided for us and the bottle of wine. All in all, it was a wonderful experience-- very private while at the same time extremely welcoming.

Loved this place. Sometimes you never know even with the pictures but the pictures do not lie. It was like having our own apartment.

Sally and Ron were great although we only met them once. Very private accommodations. They have apple, plum, and pear trees on the property and shared their harvest with us. Also, having breakfast foods provided is a huge bonus. We never ate out for breakfast while we were there which saved us $$. Had cereal, yogurt, fruit, bread (Killer Dave's Good Seed bread is fantastic!), eggs, bacon, juice, and milk. Exceptional perk!

The place was clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable and provided us a good night sleep which we needed. We went up to the tree house a couple of times and that is a pretty cool experience.

We were close to McMinnville, and visited the town a few times, either for dinner or just to visit the historical district. The people in the town are great!

We visited a few wineries and made two trips to the coast, central cost one day and the northern coast another. It is about a hour's drive to the central coast and an hour and half to the north. And, the drives to the coast, especially to the north, are great as you drive thru the mountains.

And, of course, can't forget the goats! They are a neat attraction. Very friendly and curious. Fun to see them each day.

Can't say enough good things about this property and if I am ever fortunate enough to visit the area again, Sally and Ron's place will be the first I will check out!

You won't be disappointed!

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable and it was bigger in person then it looked in the pictures. The kids loved the tree house and the goats. The location is very rural and peaceful, yet still close to town. We stayed here 7 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We would stay here again if we ever come back to visit beautiful northern Oregon.
