Living room has 55 inch high def wide screen TV, surrounded by elegant entertainment center with CD, DVD, VCR and surround sound. Kitchen boasts all new granite counters, and stainless steel appliances. Master Bedroom has beautiful brand new dark wood 4 piece bedroom set. New 20-inch tile and upgraded flooring through out. On the rear patio enjoy the views while cooking on the stainless barbecue. The entrance patio has been beautifully landscaped with desert theme.

Monterey amenities include 36 pools and spas, 19 tennis courts, clubhouse with restaurant, and 27 seven holes of Golf. Entrance to Monterey is through one of the two security guard gates. Wireless high speed internet access and unlimited long distance phone calls to US and Canada.

'The River' shopping Mall is minutes away to fine dining such as Flemmings, P.F. Chang's, Cheesecake Factory, The Yard House and casual dining as well. Sit and enjoy coffee at Starbucks at The River early morning or grab a quick meal after golf at Baja Fresh.

I am an avid Mountainbiker, Hiker and outdoorsman. I also enjoy Tennis and Golf. I live in Santa Monica with my beautiful Fiancee, Sarah and our wonderful Shitzu/Yorkie named Zoe.

I grew up in Rancho Mirage when there were only 7 golf courses in the entire desert, and now there are over 100! My fiance Sarah and I like to get down to the Condo whenever it isn't booked.

Why Tony Marx chose California Desert

I purchased this condo because I loved it when I first walked inside. I also couldn't find anything wrong with it. It also came with beautiful plantation shutters. I was very cognizant that Snowbirds like a nice sunny Southern Exposure. It's also very quietly located away from Monterey Road, 3 doors from the pool, and a short walk to the clubhouse.

I chose Monterey Country Club because it's really in the heart of the desert, and away from the wind belt. You can get to El Paseo in 5 minutes or the Riverwalk in 7. Palm Springs is about 30 minutes away and La Quinta is only about 20 minutes.

What makes this condo unique

Recently Refurbished, Remodeled, and Landscaped. Wonderful relaxing desertscape as you walk in the court yard with relaxing fountain. I think I'm a great landlord and want my renters to have a fantastic experience.

My amazing property manager lives next door in case there are any problems that come up while you're there.

I also try every year to improve my Condo. I'm always open to my renters feedback to see how I can make their experience even better.

Awesome place

I all I can say is what a wonderful peaceful weekend. Very nice location, BBQ every night, watch the Dodgers every night on time warner which is awesome since I cannot get them on Verizon. Tony was very accommodating and called to ensure we made it safely. The master bedroom and bathroom is awesome as well. Kitchen is stocked, even though we brought more than we needed. And last but not least, location, location, location.... Close to everything you need. i have stayed at all the 4 and 5 star holes in this area and this is now my got to place. My only regret is sharing this information since I want it to be available always. Thanks Tony!

Beautiful house. Nice patio. Great grill. Very nice. Quiet.

The only problem was with VRBO. Available dates to properties were not up to date. Kept asking me to pay when I had. Also, communication between landlord and tenant was sketchy. My laptop wouldn't bring up my emails so the messages that were sent weren't received. However, the access was easy and the place was great.

Wow. What a find!

This is a very nice, very well located condo. And it is stocked with more than just the basics. So easy to feel at home here. Large rooms, comfortable beds, tvs everywhere! Front and back patios, walking distance to clubhouse. This is one of the nicest VRBO rentals I have used. I hope to be back next year.

WHAT A DISASTER! Pictures are deceiving.

We arrived to a strong odor, blood on our sheets, stained carpet and filth throughout the unit. After forwarding photos to VRBO the owner agreed to steam clean the carpet and supply us with new sheets and towels.

The television didn't work properly as the instructions in the welcome packet were different than any of the remote controls in the unit.

The guest bedroom was used as a storage area. The closet unusable with old and dirty pillows, waded up old sheets, a large metal cabinet that took up a third of the closet which was full of old paints, odds and ends.

Both bathroom sinks were broken--needed repair.

Kitchen was stocked with mismatched dishes and some unuseable accessories. The pantry was being used as storage for unrelated kitchen items. Throughout the home and garage you had a sense of complete disorganization and an owner who was a hoarder. Most of WEEK ONE was lost to cleaners and handyman.

WEEK TWO was worse. Awakened to the sound of scratching and gnawing to discover we had rats in the walls. Had two different pest companies in and out drilling holes in the interior walls, checking the roof, etc. and were told by both companies the rat problem could take 2-3 weeks to resolve.

We lost a great deal of sleep during this period. The owner suggested we purchase earplugs. He brought up the fact that there had been rat issues in the unit before.

Moving into WEEK THREE we came home to a flooded kitchen. We asked for a partial refund and started to look at options of renting elsewhere or returning home.

While working with Tony, the homeowner, we sensed a Jekyll-Hyde personality with no real empathy for our situation. We wanted out as he was becoming very verbally abusive on top of everything else.

Also, Tony uses his next-door neighbor as his manager/assistant to help watch over his unit. They have nothing nice to say about him. They said they have been telling Tony for a long time that he needed to take care of his unit! "Tell him to STOP saying we are the managers!" Such a strange situation.

VRBO moved us to a lovely new location. We are eternally grateful for the professionalism and kindness they extended to us.

We are extensive world travelers and found this encounter to be our worst travel experience.

Owner's Response: In 10+ years of renting my condo, this is the first extremely difficult tenant to please (I believe OCD) and first negative review I’ve had out of (19) 5 star reviews. Responses are in parenthesis below, and I’m limited on length. Arrived to a strong odor, blood on our sheets, stained carpet and filth throughout the unit. (I immediately ordered new high quality sheets/towels, and had my condo completely deep cleaned again and had all the carpets steam cleaned). (Purchased a new TV and instructions have been updated). Guest bedroom was used as a storage area. (I do like to have extra pillows and blankets, not old and dirty for my guests. At most storage locker took up ¼ of the closet. Have 2 large closets in the master). Both bathroom sinks needed repair. (Yes and fixed immediately.) Kitchen was stocked with mismatched dishes.(Yes, I do have two complete sets of dishes, since some of my renters like to entertain large parties). owner was a hoarder. (What? I do have some things organized and stored to the left of my garage.) rats in the walls. (Yes, and the small mouse like, roof rat problem was solved in less that 1 week). Owner suggested we purchase earplugs. (Yes, I did mention that to try if it could help them sleep, until the problem was resolved) Rat issues in the unit before. (Yes, I’m not sure these people have ever owned a property before, but from time to time issues come up).Flooded Kitchen (I’m taking their word on this, but after they left I had a plumber come in to test for any leaking from pipes or appliances.He found nothing). Jekyll-Hyde personality - no real empathy. (Not true, If I wasn’t empathetic, I wouldn’t have refunded them 1 week’s rent for any inconvenience) Becoming verbally abusive. (Not true. It’s not in my nature.). His property manager - nothing nice to say about him. (Highly doubt this. We have been friends for years and I pay them generously for property management. She also told me she didn’t want further contact these renters because they were so negative, and nitpicky). take care of his unit! (That’s strange because she always wants to know the name of the contractors that have done upgrades to my unit.) (There were some issues that came up and needed to be taken care of. They were all proactively dealt with. I’m not sure there is anything else I could have done to please these renters).

Very Nice Home

We enjoyed staying at this condo. It was very clean, well equipped and in a nice gated community. The "How To" booklet for wifi, tv, garbage, etc., was well written and the interaction with the owner was very pleasant and easy.
