Perfect for a cozy rustic getaway in a beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Loon Cottage for a mid-October long weekend. The cabin was well equipped - the heaters worked great, and David was extremely responsive to the few questions we had. The setting could not be more beautiful - as seen in the photos this cabin is literally steps away from the lake. We were able to sit by the water and watch the sun set on one side of the lake, and the moon rise on the other - like being on the 50 yard line! We enjoyed several of the great restaurants in the area, and some nice hikes (eg Bald Mountain). Our dogs were very interested in the deer near the cabin. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful. Charming. Enchanted. Perfect.

  • 5 of 5

Words are hard to find. Couldn't ask for anything more. Cozy. Quaint. Quiet. Different wildlife each day. Peaceful. no stress. Relax and unwind. The songs of the loons. The roll of the waves. Fresh air and beautiful scents. Everything you could need provided. Clean. Extreme value. will return if possible again and again.

Exactly what we expected

  • 5 of 5

Cute little cabin that is perfect for two people. Very well maintained and affordable. Great spot for fishing off the dock. We had a lot of luck with brookies and land locked solomon. This 4 night getaway was exactly what we imagined. The owner David was also very accomodating and answered all our questions promptly. Thank you for an amazing time

A gorgeous and rustic retreat . . again!

  • 5 of 5

I returned for a second time to Loon Cottage this year and was not disappointed. The cottage was immaculately clean, the kitchen was even better equipped (I actually prepared a complete Greek meal for friends and had no problem doing so with the set up there). Turkeys, deer, moose, loons, sunny fall weather and a secluded cottage on the lakefront . . . the perfect getaway for a personal retreat or couple's vacation! This is my go-to place!

We didn't want to leave . . beautiful, cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed 4 nights at the Meardon cabin on Rangeley Lake. After much searching Home Away, I settled on the cabin because of the looks, positive reviews and reasonable price - I don't believe I could have done better. The owner is friendly and thorough, providing us with a good deal of information about the cabin and the Rangeley area - thanks David! The cabin itself is somewhat secluded (just what we wanted) and sits about dead center on the shore of the north side of the lake. The inside is pleasant & clean, with a covered porch with generous windows, a small couch and sitting area just inside, a small kitchen with just about everything you'd need (though we couldn't find a pizza cutter) & a bedroom with a high, wooden ceiling + one large bed and one smaller bed. The beach outside is clean with a rocky floor - perfect for swimming or just sitting beside in the provided double-chair. There are a couple picnic tables, an additional chair & a nice fire pit (all of which we used). If you do decide to rent the place (and you ought to) be sure to go to The Gingerbread House for breakfast - we went two days in a row & it was excellent. I can't say enough good things about the cabin and the experience - well worth it, we would certainly visit again!

PERFECT LAKESIDE GETAWAY FOR TWO

  • 5 of 5

Loon Cottage was everything we'd hoped. The property was immaculate, comfortable, and well-maintained, but rustic enough to feel like a real getaway. The fully-enclosed porch is the perfect place to start a chilly Maine morning gazing out over the lake and soaking in the quiet with a cup of hot coffee, and the perfect spot for a romantic sunset dinner. The small kitchen is functional and funky, just the way a camp kitchen should be. We wish we could have stayed much longer!

Thank you to the Meardons and to the various deer, fox, fireflies, and loons who kept us company during our stay.
