|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Mimosa is a superb 10-person villa in the exclusive Punta Estrada side of Puerto Ayora. This house is snugly positioned two-minutes walk away from the port, the beach and two of the best restaurants in town. Walking is the only way in the vicinity as there are no roads and hence, no traffic. The only way to reach this neighborhood is to take a 5-minute water taxi ride from the busier Puerto Ayora.
After four years of successfully letting out our home, ‘The Cactuspad’, we decided to move back in. This left us with a great demand for the renowned service we’ve provided, and the logical next step in taking on a new rental!
We are thrilled with Mimosa due to its superiority, comfort, attention to detail and fine housekeeper who keeps the place looking like new!
With a pleasant sea-breeze, views over the ocean, four huge, comfortable, on-suite rooms, this recently converted bed & breakfast is ideal for a couple of families looking for a beach vacation in the tourist capital of Galapagos!
With its dedicated housekeeper, you can relax and enjoy an idyllic, self-catering vacation without the hassles of house maintenance.
We have a weekly rate of $2,000 and you can start on any day of the week if there is availability. Please inquire after additional nights which are charged at $285/night. We also have a nightly rate, 3 nights minimum, charged at $400/night.
We have a travel agency called Galapex, and can help you sort out the flights from the mainland if you wish. This is sometimes tricky to organize from outside of Ecuador! We also work out tours in Galapagos and Ecuador with a great insight into the cruises, being naturalist guides ourselves.
In addition to Mimosa, we are also renting Orchidea: a 2-bedroom condo in the other part of town! Please ask for details.
We hope you enjoy Mimosa, an affordable, brilliant alternative to the traditional cruises of Galapagos.
As we've just listed this one on VRBO, we have no reviews.

I'm a naturalist guide in Galapagos. During my 20 years here, I decided to build my house and a couple of apartments next door. We spent a few years away recently and that resulted in us renting these properties to vacation renters. The service we provided not only proved to be a lot of fun but also turned many clients into our friends. After or return last June, we realized that we had to find a replacement vacation rental for our now re-settled home. Mimosa has become exactly that.
The Owner purchased this house in 2011
It is in the best part of Puerto Ayora for a vacation rental due to it's proximity to the beach.
For a one-week stay in Puerto Ayora, one should book up some day tours. Filling in the gaps with those day tours is where Mimosa comes in. From here, there is no thought or planning necessary to simply come down to the little beach and enjoy playing, snorkeling, kayaking or simply sun-bathing.
We arrived in Puerto Ayora and was met by Fernanda, Mimosa's property manager that escorted us to the property. Mimosa is a short pleasant boat ride across the bay, the property itself was clean and well maintained. The staff was wonderful and very helpful, Paul (owner) met us and answered all questions we had. From Mimosa we took hikes and loved visiting Las Grietas a small swimming hole where you can climb the rocks and jump in. It took us around 25 minutes to walk to the swimming hole from Mimosa. Traveling to and from Puerto Ayora was very easy and we did so several times a day. Lots of activities and sightseeing in the area and taxis are easily accessible and relatively cheap. Don't forget to visit the fresh fish market after 5pm for a fantastic meal.
Mimosa was a large comfortable house for our group. Paul provided great information to help us make the most of our stay. His excursions were a great value, and his knowledge and enthusiasm for the Galapagos made it very interesting and fun. We split the house 4 ways with our friends, and it was a good deal for a week. We saw many animals and got great photos. This was an adventure of a lifetime.
This house has plenty of room for a big family or several families. We were a group of 6 and only used 3 of the 5 bedrooms. Comfy beds, great bathrooms, daily cleaning. The living/dining room and kitchen are big and bright and take up a whole floor. Pretty decent roof-top deck. The house is basically equipped but the owner is happy to add whatever you request. It is a 2 minute water taxi ride from the main pier but it kind of made the whole stay more charming. There is lots of construction in this area as new guest houses are being built but nobody seemed to be working when we were there. Might have been the heat! It was stifling hot (early March). The bedrooms had great AC but the living area was unbearable and we either left the house for the beach or sat and sweated on the roof. I understand that March is a really hot month so if you're going any other time it's probably fine. Paul, the owner, is great to deal with.
