We purchased this house 10 years ago. We wanted a quite and beautiful place to enjoy time with family and we found it!
Carla Rizzati purchased this house in 2003
This property is gulf front on a gated subdivision along the Fort Morgan peninsula. We love the location, low density, next door to a nature reserve.
The location, on the beach, across the street from the Gulf Shores Marina is fantastic!
We chose this Tropical Dunes house for our first vacation rental spring break experience. Our group included Grandma plus three families with five children ages 8 months to 7 years. Everyone loved the house with separate bedrooms but also a great common area for all to gather. The kitchen was equipped with anything we could have wanted. Porch and balcony provided beautiful ocean views.
Since we had young children we especially appreciated the chairs, bed rails, safety gates, plastic dishes, numerous beach toys and the cart we used for our numerous trips to the beach. The washer and dryer was handy for the wet towels and kids' clothes.
During our stay we didn't leave for additional entertainment since we spent all our time at the beach. It was a secluded beautiful beach area for swimming, playing in sand, watching dolphins, collecting shells and relaxing in general.
Our family enjoyed the vacation house stay and plan to consider this house for future trips.
This home is a perfect family vacation home. The bedrooms are large with private baths. There are two large decks which are great for eating, sunning, and hanging out and watching the ocean. The beachfrint location is fabulous!!! You are at the end of the beach and do not have to fight crowds for a spot in the sand!! We had 2 families and gramma and all had plenty of space. Thanks again for sharing this home with us!! Hopefully we will be back!!
This was the most wonderful home! It was perfect for my family of 7, my brother's family of 4 and our mother. We all had the "right" space (because of the king sized beds in 3 rooms) and the bunk room (with a queen/double combo) was amazing for a group of cousins! Everything about the house was as the owner describes and more. Her attention to detail was greatly appreciated and made the welcome so warm and our stay so comfortable. For example, there is a step stool in the "kids" bathroom for reaching the sink; she provides a rolling cart to get all the beach gear in and out of the beach easily; the bath towels are NICE--not cheap and flimsy but something that you might have in your own home; two coffee pots, plenty of pots and pans; the home is well decorated and nicely appointed, so that you feel like you are in a nice home, not just a half-way done rental. We appreciated all the details and it was SO close to the beach and the pool was a good change when we needed it. We would love to return and highly recommend this property.
For 16 years four couples have been going to the Colorado mountains to ski but with health issues that are affected by the high altitude we decided to go from 10,000 above sea level to sea level. This house is ideally suited to our needs/desires - 5 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, large well appointed kitchen and large dining room and the other amenities of this beautiful home adds to it's charm and appeal.
Location is great. It is a couple miles from the Dolphin Island Ferry that can take you across Mobile Bay Inlet to the west side of the bay. There you can visit Bellingrath Gardens to see beautify flowers, a large historic home and learn of history of the area or head on into Mobile proper for what is offered there. For shopping and some of the best sea food around there's Gulf Shores and the surrounding areas. For those that like quaint shopping venues there is Fairhope, AL, about an hour and a half away and on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay.
For the naturalist in you, you can walk one of many trails in the wildlife refugees and the sea shore where there is brown pelicans to admire, shells to seek and porpoises to watch swimming and feeding just off shore.
History buffs can explore Fort Morgan which can be seen from the house. The fort was built in the early 1800's and was strategic in the war of 1812 to defend the entrance to Mobile Bay and then played the same major roles in the Civil War.
Anyway, this house is ideal for those that need room for several. It would be outstanding for two or three families with kids. For kids there a very big sandbox, two swimming pools and a very big wave pool - all a short walk away.
My husband and I rented Tropical Dunes for our first ever family vacation with our grown children and their families. Ten adults and 5 grandsons (6 & under) were very well accommodated in this beautiful 5 bedroom home with 4 kings beds, 4 private baths, a sofa sleeper and bunk room complete with video games. Everyone had their own space and we spent every possible minute on the gorgeous beach or cooking and sharing meals in the great kitchen. The balconies provided great ocean views, the dunes community was very nice, just 5 minutes from the Ferry to Dauphin Island and historic Ft. Morgan. Location is far away from the touristy areas of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach. Quiet, Comfortable, Perfect. Our family would love to return. We highly recommend this property-Best vacation ever!
We spent our spring break here with two other families. We had 6 adults and 4 kids ranging in age from 4 months to 11 years. We had plenty of space to spread out and we weren't crowded at all. The location is fantastic! We usually stay in Orange Beach which gets very crowded on the beach. Here we were able to find a spot on the beach and spread out at any point if the day. There was no need to get out early just to secure a spot. We would go to the beach at our leisure and never had an issue. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well appointed, and the accommodations were pretty clean. We had a couple of little issues but the owner was easy to reach and the matters dealt with promptly. The only negative, which could be a positive, is that it is kind of secluded. We aren't good planners and didn't make a grocery list. We are the type of people who just like to run to the store and get one item. The owner did tell us in advance how far the nearest grocery store was but we didn't listen. I would definitely rent again but next time have my grocery list together and just make one trip to the store. It's not so secluded that you can't drive into Gulf Shores for a meal or entertainment, which we did often, but we definitely don't want to make a couple trips to the store in one day.
Thanks for renting to us. We really enjoyed it!
